IIT - JEE 2009/2010 POSTAL GUIDANCE COURSE

IIT - JEE 2009/2010 POSTAL GUIDANCE COURSE from UNIVERSITY PUBLICATION - ROORKEE

UNIVERSITY PUBLICATION - ROORKEE - 247667
UTTARANCHAL - INDIA

IIT - JEE 2009/2010 POSTAL GUIDANCE COURSE

University Publication’s Postal Guidance Course is based on most scientifically designed study pattern. The Postal Guidance Cell has developed key study area. The Cell has a panel of experts, whose primary task is to exposes the students to carefully chosen sets of questions through a series of booklets, spread over a suitable time-frame. The topics covered are gently introduced, where a student moves up to advanced levels through ladders of problems set in an increased order of difficulty/complexity. They then motivate the students to solve the challenging questions on their own with various degree of support from our end through Solutions - the ultimate one being - to provide the actual solution to difficult problems. The student's self-assessment of the Test Series makes them a skilled player in the most effective way. The education plan is spread over a definite time span and accordingly the study material is sent to the students at regular intervals. The students are asked to complete the assignments within the given time-frame. Thereafter they are taken to the next topics.

Apart from providing effective postal guidance with particular attention to JEE/AIEEE with clear cut demarcation lines, they provide timely guidance to the students regarding how, when and whom to approach for these openings. They also advise their students on the text books, what should be studied by them with a view to covering the syllabi concerned.

STUDY PLAN:
The Postal Guidance Course teaches students the choicest text from the point of view of JEE/AIEEE. The programme includes questions and answers, a detailed review of each section of the course, practice exercises, different Interim Test Series and Final Test Series similar to actual entrance examinations conducted in past and expected to be followed this year. The Interim Test Series sharpen the skill, increase speed and improve scoring ability of the students. The Final Test Series will offer a real-time experience of the actual Entrance Examinations.

Analysis shows that students fail to recognise the importance of a well-planned examination strategy even in their second attempt. A booklet titled “51 Basic Tips on How to Prepare for Competitive Exams”, provided with the Course, helps students to evolve their own study plan, and review their relevant educational skills that they have developed through their earlier studies. The "51 Basic Tips" not only help you train yourself in effective self-learning, but also polish your personality and life-style.

STUDY MATERIAL:
The subjects involved in JEE and AIEEE are Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each subject is rigorously treated according to the latest syllabus. Every attempt has been made to treat all topics involved a particular subject in a thorough yet simple and concise manner. The entire study material is divided into 4-volumes, 4-supplement volumes and Test Series.

Volumes:
The Volumes comprise of various easy-to-understand, short and simple booklets having brief text followed by solved examples. The solved examples are intended to guide you to adopt a step-wise approach. These booklets are prepared strictly according to authoritative syllabus of each subject, i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, prescribed by JEE/AIEEE in their respective Information Brochures.

Supplement Volumes:
Each volume of study material is followed by a Supplement Volume having 2 types of unsolved exercises called Self-Test Series (objective type) and Self Test Series (subjective type) to enable the students to review the major and important points and evaluate their grasp on the application of the concepts discussed. This is not strictly a time-bound exercise. This part is very important: It will not only reinforce one's impression about facts and figures but also their use in various situations. Should they feel any difficulty in solving any of the problem, they may consult Solutions (Hints & Guidelines) provided by us alongwith respective Self-Test Series .

Test Series:
During the Course they conduct Postal Test Series, which includes Interim Test Series and Final Test Series are earmarked for JEE/AIEEE. The Interim Test Series are designed to judge a students’ grasp on the topics covered. Since the Test Papers are objective-type and set on pattern and standard of the JEE/AIEEE, these will give you an opportunity to familiarise yourself with the type of questions you are likely to face in the ensuing JEE/AIEEE. Apart from building your confidence, performance at these Test Series, this will also help you to realise your weaknesses in areas where you must exert more concentration.

After a thorough exercise of all study material and Interim Test Series, the candidate is given a chance to write Final Test Series to adjudge his/her capability. To a large extent, the result of Final Test Series is the true indicator of the candidate's performance and preparedness for the real-life entrance examinations. A set of Model Papers consisting of important questions for the practice will be sent to every candidate enrolled with the Publication about 15 days before the respective scheduled dates of entrance examination.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTIONS:
The Course is conducted in English medium only, written in simple and easy to understand style to enable the students of any other medium to develop a concrete foundation on which they are supposed to build a superstructure during their study in IITs, because in engineering courses the medium of instruction is invariably English only.

COMMENCEMENT OF COURSES:
A fresh batch of regular Postal Guidance Course and other Courses are scheduled to commence 15th day of every month.

In case the enrolment exceeds the limit of seats available in a month, the remaining applicants are automatically transferred to the next month batch without seeking concurrence of the student. So, it will go in the long way to the benefit of the student to get himself/herself enrolled at the earliest to be able to avail maximum time for study. The study material for all monthly batches is absolutely same. The only difference among batches is only in their despatch schedule.

APPLICATION FORM:
Application may be made in the prescribed format given at the end of this prospectus. The Application may either be typed or neatly hand written. No form will be entertained without course fee. Incomplete or illegible applications shall not be considered for enrolment with University Publication.

All applications must be sent in the enclosed printed envelope and sent under Registered Post / Courier Service, failing which neither acknowledgement will be issued, nor responsibility for any loss or delay in receipt of application form shall be assumed. Registrations remain open at all times, and student may send their Application Form on any date.
STUDY PROGRAMME:
A detailed study programme will be issued immediately after enrolment, according to which the study material will be despatched to the students. Normally, the first volume of study material will be sent to the candidate within a week's time after enrolment, and the subsequent study material will be despatched at regular intervals (as per study programme). These intervals depend upon the basis of time span available. Thus, it is recommended that the students who wish to study at normal pace, should join the course at the earliest. Study material will be despatched under Express Parcel Post / Courier Service.

Post Graduate Program in Management - PGPM

Post Graduate Program in Management - PGPM

PGPM at SMOT

Background of the program
Postgraduate Program in Management, popularly called PGPM, is generally offered by Business Schools, not affiliated to any university. These programs have a very strong corporate recognition which is evident from the placement records hese schools have and the kind of salary the students are offered. SMOT has taken a policy decision of being a non-affiliated B School to enjoy absolute academic freedom in designing its own curriculum and administer the academic affairs on a scale that would make the students internationally competitive. Such an objective is achieved by liberally drawing faculty from the corporate, industry, professional bodies and well known B Schools across the world apart from the faculty from reputed schools from within India.

Highlights of the program
A rigorous course PGPM in SMOT is completed by doing 24 course credits which is the same as (or more than) the credits earned by MBAs in India and abroad. Each course is of three credits (36 hours) offered over a period of 12 course weeks. This is the international norm and SMOT exactly follows this norm.

A result oriented course
PGPM in SMOT is orientated to the needs of both industry and the students. The number 1 need is better fitment leading to better stability leading to greater productivity. In order to fulfill this requirement, SMOT is delivering a new offering in the management education space called a Career Track Vertical. A Career Track Vertical is a systematic track of education that prepares a candidate for a career in a particular domain. One such track is the Management Consulting Track where SMOT is currently the only institution in India to offer such an option to both students and industry. This course is delivered in collaboration with CAMC (Canadian association of management consultants). With this sort of systematic and unique education, SMOT’s candidates stand well equipped to deliver outstanding results on their jobs.

Extraordinary academic standards
Recognizing that excellence in management requires not just knowledge but also skills to use that knowledge, domain and personality skills and a set of values that improve the credibility of the candidate, SMOT insists on its candidates satisfy more than just academic criteria. In addition to the 24 course credits, SMOT students undergo a number of other programs which need to be passed even though they carry no credit. These programs are aimed at improving the skills, personal effectiveness and the exposure of the candidates to global best practices. Not only that, SMOT students are expected to clear third party certifications mandatorily. These certifications are SMOT’s way of guaranteeing certain attributes to Industry.

Research driven learning
SMOT’s PGPM is learning oriented not teaching oriented. To keep pace with fast changing and evolving trends in business, SMOT students are expected to learn by conducting research in collaboration with the faculty and an appropriate industry guide. Students are expected to publish their findings in appropriate third party journals and this is a necessary step in obtaining SMOT’s PGPM.
