IPR Course for women


Scholarship programme for training in Intellectual Property Rights

Many women qualified in science and technology did not pursue the field further due to various reasons. In an attempt to bring back such qualified women to the field of science and technology, the Department of Science and Technology has created a scholarship programme for training In Intellectual Property Rights.

This scholarship is being offered by the Dept.of Science and Technology in collaboration with centre for cooperation in science and technology among developing societies. A stipend of Rs.10000 and Rs.15000 per month would be provided to postgraduates and doctorates respectively. For details, visit www.ccstds.tn.nic.in

Eligibility:

MBBS/BDS- Applicant should have completed the 2 year Intermediate/ HSC/equivalent course with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, from a recognized Indian University or Pre- University, securing not less than 60% marks in aggregate in the above subjects and a minimum of 50% in the All India Common Entrance Examination.

B.E/ B.Tech- Applicant should have completed the 2 year Intermediate/ HSC/equivalent course with English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized Indian University or Pre- University, securing not less than 50% of marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination and at the All India Common Entrance Examination.

Courses are offered in Electronics and Communication, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication

B.P.T. & B.Sc (Nursing): Applicant should have completed the 2 year intermediate/ HSC or equivalent course with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognized Indian University or Pre- University securing not less than 50% of marks in aggregate in the above subjects in the qualifying examination and in the All India Common Entrance Examination.

For all courses, Applicant should complete the age of 17 years as on 31st December, 2009 and should be medically fit. Admission will be based on merit depending on the performance in the All India Common Entrance Examination to be held on 30.05.2009 at Chennai, New Delhi, Kolkatta, Hyderabad, Madurai, Coimbatore, Kanpur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Vijayawada, Vishakapatnam, Nellore.

Questions will be based on Plus two and CBSE syllabus.
There will be 150-200 multiple-choice questions. All questions carry equal mark. Each right answer carries one mark. There is no negative marking. The mark distributions in the various subjects differ for Medical and Engineering streams.

In Stream A applicable to those appearing for Medical & Engineering Streams (MBBS/BDS/BE/B.Tech/BPT/B.Sc-Nursing), the duration of the examination will be 3 hours (10 am to 1 pm). There will be 200 multiple choice questions from Physics (40 questions), Chemistry (40), Analytical (20), Biology (50), Mathematics (50). Under Stream B, for those appearing for Medical courses only, (MBBS/BDS/BPT/B.Sc-Nursing), the duration of the examination will be 2 hours and 15 minutes (10 am to 12.15 pm), with 150 multiple choice questions from Physics (40), Chemistry (40), Analytical (20) and Biology (50). Under Stream C, for those appearing for Engineering only (BE/B.Tech), the duration of the examination will be 2 hours and 15 minutes with 150 multiple choice questions from Physics (40), Chemistry (40), Analytical (20) and Mathematics (50).

Application form and the admission procedure is common to MBBS, BDS, BE/ B.Tech, B.Sc(Nursing) and BPT courses. Those applying for Medical/ Engineering/Both streams should submit a single application form on which they should indicate their choice of course clearly.

Applications can be obtained in person on payment of Rs 1000/- by cash or D.D. taken in favor of 'Saveetha University', payable at Chennai. Applications can be obtained by Post by sending a DD for Rs. 1050/-.

Applications can also be downloaded from www.saveetha.com and the completed application forms submitted with a DD for Rs.1000 /- taken in favor of 'Saveetha University', payable at Chennai. Completed Application form with self-addressed envelope with stamps worth Rs.50/- affixed should reach The Director of Admissions, Saveetha University, Chennai on or before 23.05.09.

The annual Tuition Fee for the various courses are as follows: (i) MBBS- Rs. 4,00,000/- (ii) BDS- Rs. 2,50,000/- (iii) BE/B.Tech- Rs. 1,00,000/- (iv) B.Sc Nursing-Rs. 75,000/- (v) BPT- Rs. 45,000. ADMISSIONS 2009-2010 /Advanced Course in Bioinformatics (ACB)

Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Tarnaka, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh -500607, is conducting an Advanced Course in Bioinformatics (ACB).
ACB is a six months, fulltime course consisting of thirteen modules and an industry relevant project. Continuous evaluation is a part of the course structure where in day to day work of the students would be evaluated based on the performance through assignments and tests. Daily session comprises of 3 hours of classroom lecture followed by 4 hours of lab work.

The fee for the course which includes course material, computer facility & High Performance Computing facility is Rs.40,000/- for General candidates (18 seats) and Rs.50,000/- for Industry sponsored candidates (6 seats).

Applicant should be a B.Tech/BE in Computer Science/Chemical Technology / Biotechnology/ Pharmacy/ MBBS/ BDS/ B.VSc/ M.V.Sc/ Post Graduation (M.Sc) in Computer Science/ Biological Science (Any branch of Life Science)/ Environmental Science / Biotechnology / Chemistry/Agricultural Science / Mathematics /Statistics/Physics and should have Good Knowledge in Bioinformatics, which requires exposure in Biology, Computer Fundamentals and Programming concepts in C Language.
