Applications for MBA in Finance (2010-2012) are invited in the prescribed form, available from University of Calcutta Sales Counter, Asutosh Building, Kolkata-700 073, till 5th December, 2009 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on payment of Rs.750 in cash (Excepting Saturdays & Sundays). Prospectus and application form can also be downloaded from the University Website (www.caluniv.ac.in) and submitted along with a draft of Rs.750 payable at Kolkata, in favour of Co-ordinator, MBA in Finance, Calcutta University. Banaras Hindu University, Institute of Medical Sciences has invited applications for admission to the MBBS/ BDS/ BAMS/ B.Pharm Courses, 2010. Admissions are regulated based on the performance in the All India Written Test to be conducted by the University.
All India Competitive Written Test for admission to the MBBS, will be held in two stages, the PMT-2010 Screening and PMT-2010 Main and that for BDS, BAMS and B. Pharm, in one stage, the PMT-2010 Screening. The PMT-2010 Screening will be held on 12th May 2010 (Wednesday) at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad, to screen candidates for eligibility to appear in PMT-2010 Main for MBBS course which will be held on 13th June 2010 (Sunday) at Varanasi Centre only. For BDS/BAMS/B.Pharm courses, selection will be on the basis of merit in PMT-2010 Screening.

Applicant should have passed Intermediate, 10+2 or equivalent examination in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany) taken together. For admission to MBBS/BDS/BAMS, applicant should have a minimum of 50% marks for General, OBC and respective PC candidates and 40% aggregate marks for SC/ST and respective PC candidates. For admission to B.Pharm, applicant should have a minimum of 60% marks for General, OBC and respective PC candidates and 55% aggregate marks for SC/ST and respective PC candidates. Candidates appearing in qualifying examination may also apply. Applicant should have completed 17 years but not crossed 25 years as on 31st December, 2010. So, those born after 1st January, 1994 and on or before 31st December, 1985 need not apply.

The distribution of seats for various courses will be as follows.

M.B.B.S (84 seats): General-42; OBC-23; SC-13 and ST-6; BDS (38 seats): General - 19; OBC-10; SC-6 and ST-3; BAMS (78 seats): General-36; Foreign National- 3; OBC-21; SC-12 and ST-6; B.Pharm (33 seats): General-17; OBC-9; SC-5 and ST-2. Three percent seats are reserved for Physically Challenged (PC) candidates in all the categories for all courses.

UNDER-GRADUATE PROGRAMME

Eligibility for CLAT 2010:
To be eligible for taking CLAT-2010, a candidate should have passed Higher Secondary School/Intermediate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in aggregate (45% in case of SC/ST/OBC* and persons with Disability*). Age of candidate should not be more than 20 years (in case of General/OBC candidates and 22 years in case of SC/ST* and persons with Disability* on 1st July, 2010.

*Subject to reservation at the University concerned.

Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination can also appear provisionally. However, they shall have to produce proof of having passed the qualifying examination before or at the time of admission with detailed mark sheet.

Note: Candidate with compartment/supplementary in any subject in the qualifying examination will not be eligible for admission.

POST-GRADUAT PROGRAMME Eligibility for CLAT 2010:

To be eligible for appearing in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) to the two year LL.M. Degree Course, a candidate should have passed the LL.B/B.L. Degree or an equivalent degree from a recognized University with not less than 55% marks in aggregate (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC* and persons with Disability*).

*Subject to reservation at the University concerned.

Candidates awaiting result of the qualifying examination can also appear for the test on the condition that they produce proof of having passed the qualifying examination with the prescribed marks before or at the time of admission.

ADMISSIONS OPEN FOR 2010-2012

Admissions for all degree courses begin by the first week of June. Admission form can be downloaded from this website or from the website www.fhrai.com. You can also get the Admission Form and Brochure from the Institute Office or Head Office of the FHRAI Education Trust after paying Rs.500 by DD drawn in favour of FHRAI, payable at Delhi.

Completed application with relevant documents should be submitted to the Institutre Office. In case of downloaded forms, DD of Rs.500 drawn in favour of FHRAI, payable at Delhi should also be submitted.

Successful admissions will be decided through an entrance test that includes a written test, a group discussion and a personal interview conducted by FHRAI / FHRAI Institute .

Scholarships

The FHRAI Education Trust awards selective scholarships based on merit cum means. In addition students should secure 60% marks in the admission test. The scholarship grant will continue so long as he / she successfully completes and obtains a minimum of 60% marks in examinations.

ADMISSIONS CRITERIA:
The minimum requirement to qualify for application for the graduation courses is the basic
10 + 2 high school education with Certification from any recognized board such as CBSE, ICSE or the State Education Board. Other equivalent qualification such as International Baccalaureate is also acceptable.

There is no age restriction or minimum marks required at the 12th grade examination. Application will be accepted even if the student has appeared for the exam and is awaiting results. However, a passing certificate will have to be submitted at the time of admission.

Another essential requirement is good communication skills in written and spoken English.

NRI and Foreign students have to fulfill the same requirements.

Entrance Test

Admissions will be decided through an entrance test conducted by FHRAI/FHRAI Institute.

The Entrance Test consists of a written test, a group discussion and a personal interview.

. Written Test will be in 2 parts and will carry 100 marks.
i. An essay in English of 30 minutes and 25 marks.
ii. Objective test on the following subjects of 1 hour and 75 marks.
A. Proficiency in English Language
B. Quantitative and Numerical Ability
C. Data Analysis and Interpretation
D. Reasoning and General Intelligence
E. Awareness of Socio-Economic Environment
. All applicants will also appear in a group discussion, which will carry 25 marks.
. The personal interview will carry 75 marks.

50% marks must be obtained in both written test and verbal test (G.D. & Interview). Applicants will be evaluated on the merit of both these tests and will be selected for admission from the merit list.
The written test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview will be held on the same day.

Seats for NRI/ Foreign Students
A few seats not exceeding 16 are reserved for NRI/foreigners. Applicants for these seats will not be required to appear for admission test, unless they wish to do so. They will pay the fee for foreiners/NRIs. Their admission will be decided on the evaluation of responses received through the application form, which is different from the Indian application form

Preferential quota for FHRAI members

Based on a request made by a number of FHRAI members, the Executive Committee of the Federation has decided to allocate a quota of seats for FHRAI members. A weightage of 10% in the marks will be given to such applicants and the number of seats filled from this concession will not exceed 10% of the approved seats or 16 in number.
To qualify, the applicant must be the son or daughter of a person working in a FHRAI member-establishment, or an owner of it. All categories of members, organization members, hotels, restaurants & associates are entitled to this privilege. The member establishment must be a current member and its annual membership fee for the current financial year should have been paid at the time when the application is submitted, as also its annual membership fees to the concerned regional association. Allocation of a successful OCES trainee to a DAE unit is done based on the merit at the end of the OCES programme. DAE reserves the right to place a small number of selected candidates/ trainees to any other unit under the Atomic Energy Commission or Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) apart from those listed above.

Successful completion of course work at the Training School will entitle trainees to Post-Graduate Diploma of Homi Bhabha National Institute(HBNI), a Deemed to be University. This could also earn them credits towards MTech/MPhil/PhD of HBNI provided their performance is above a specified threshold.

DGFS 2010
Two-year DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme for Engineering Graduates and Physics Post-Graduates for the term beginning in 2010 (DGFS-2010). Under this scheme, Engineering Graduates and Physics Post-Graduates who are selected for the Training School programme and who also have secured admission for MTech in select institutes in specializations, are paid stipend and tuition fee to study for MTech degree. After successful completion of one-year course work at select institute, fellows undertake project work, which is assigned and supervised jointly by a DAE and institute guide. On successful completion of MTech, they are posted as Scientific Officers in DAE. On joining, they are required to first undertake a four-month Orientation Course (OCDF) at the BARC Training School, which is meant to introduce them to specific academic requirements of the DAE programmes. The DGFS fellows are enrolled and posted in one of the following units of DAE:
a) BARC, Mumbai
b) RRCAT, Indore
c)IGCAR, Kalpakkam
d) NPCIL, Mumbai .

Allocation of a DGFS fellow to a DAE unit is done at the beginning of the MTech programme.

Selected candidates are required to execute an agreement and a personal Indemnity Bond to serve DAE or AERB for at least three years after completion of training. Indemnity Bond is for Rs.2,45,000/- for OCES trainees and Rs.5,05,000/- for DGFS fellows. No third party surety is required .

During Training: (i) Stipend and Allowances : OCES trainees as well as DGFS fellows are paid stipend of Rs.20,000/- per month during the period of their training and a one-time book allowance of Rs.5,000/-.

(ii) Boarding and Lodging in DAE/select institute Hostel/Guest House is mandatory .

On Appointment: Appointment in BHAVINI and NPCIL is governed by the service rules of Corporations, whereas appointment in other units shall be as a Group A ‘Gazetted Officer’ of the Government of India.

Grade and Pay Scale: Appointment in all the units shall be as a Scientific Officer (C) in the pay band 15600-39100 with a grade pay of Rs.5400. Appointment will be at the beginning of the pay scale with OCES trainees getting two or three increments depending on their performance during the OCES programme and the DGFS fellows getting three or four increments depending on their performance in MTech and four-month Orientation Course. Emoluments (with three increments) at the time of joining including Dearness Allowance at the present rate will be approximately Rs. 24000. In addition, other Allowances are also payable such as House Rent, Transport and Professional Update Allowances, & Leave Travel Concession. A comprehensive Contributory Health Service Scheme for employees and their dependent family members is also available at all DAE Units .

Selection Process
Selection to OCES/DGFS is a two-step process: screening to short-list candidates followed by interview of the short-listed candidates. Except for RSE discipline (code 44), there is a separate selection process for each of the other disciplines listed in Table-1. RSE is available only as an additional option to applicants for Physics and Chemistry disciplines (codes 41 and 42).

Screening for the Engineering disciplines (codes 21-29) is based on two alternative methods :

(a) Cut-off GATE Score for short-listing candidates for interview will be declared on the website.

(b) Written Test: It is conducted in each of the seven Engineering disciplines (codes 21-27) except Civil Engineering (Code-29) at the centers listed in Table-4 (along with their codes) for short-listing candidates for interview. Candidates who do not opt for GATE or who do not qualify on the basis of GATE Score may take the Written Test. Travel Allowance is not paid for appearing in it. The written test is scheduled on Sunday, May 23, 2010.

Screening for the Science disciplines (codes 41-43 & 45-46) is based on two alternative methods:

(a) Written Test: It is conducted in each of the five Science disciplines (codes 41-43 & 45-46) at the centers listed in Table-4 along with their codes for short-listing candidates for interview. Travel Allowance is not paid for appearing in the written test. Written test is scheduled on Sunday, February 28, 2010.

(b) GATE Score: In this case, merit list in each of the Science disciplines (codes 41-43 & 45-46) is prepared on the basis of valid GATE Score of the applicants.
Cut-off GATE score and Written test marks for short-listing candidates for interview in each discipline are decided after the last date of receipt of applications. A candidate applying for Science disciplines (codes 41-43 & 45-46) can (i) opt to appear for the written test, or (ii) apply on the basis of valid GATE Score, or (iii) may opt to appear for written test and also apply for selection on the basis of valid GATE Score .

Selection Interviews of short-listed candidates are conducted in BARC Training Schools at any of their location. Outstation applicants are paid to and fro second-class sleeper train fare by shortest route or actual fare whichever is less. Probable period of selection interviews is during June-July, 2010. List of short-listed candidates and Interview schedule will be declared on our website from May 25, 2010 onwards. Interview call letters will also be posted to those short-listed for interview.

Final Selection is solely on the basis of performance in interview subject to medical fitness.

This selection process would also be used for selecting candidates for research based academic programmes of HBNI and for Diploma in Radiological Physics programme of HBNI. Eligibility criteria and associated details will be available in the advertisements of respective programmes to be released separately.

Eligibility Criteria

Valid GATE score means score of GATE-2009/ GATE-2010

A. Qualifying Degrees and Other Academic Requirements for OCES/DGFS
(a) For Engineering Disciplines (codes 21-29): BE/BTech/BSc (Engineering) with a minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in any of the engineering disciplines mentioned in Table-1 and valid GATE Score in the same engineering discipline as the qualifying degree discipline. Those having qualifying degree in branches like Aerospace, Automobile, Industrial Production, Reliability, Ceramics, Architecture, Geology, Mining, Bio-Medical Electronics/ Instruments, Communication, Information Technology, Master of Computer applications, Dyes & Dye Intermediates, Electrochemical, Energy Systems, Oils & Fats, Paints & Varnishes, Petrochemicals, Plastics, Paper, Sugar Technology, Textiles, etc, are not eligible.

(b) For Physics Discipline (code 41): MSc in Physics/ Applied Physics/ Electronics or BE/ BTech in Engineering Physics with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks. MSc applicants should have Physics and Mathematics up to BSc or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated MSc, with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc. Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Physics. For applicants having BE (Engineering Physics) or MSc (Electronics) as qualifying degree, valid GATE Score in Engineering Science is also acceptable.

(c) For Chemistry Discipline (code 42): MSc in Chemistry with Physics up to BSc or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated MSc and Mathematics up to Std. XII, with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc. Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Chemistry.

(d) For Biosciences Discipline (code 43): MSc in Agriculture,
Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology,Biotechnology, Genetics, Botany, Zoology, Plant Science, Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Food Technology, Animal Science, Life Sciences and Biosciences; or BE/BTech/BSc (Tech) only in Food Technology with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks .
MSc applicants should have Physics or Chemistry or Biochemistry or Agriculture Chemistry up to BSc or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated MSc with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc. Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Life Sciences. Those having MSc with specialization in subjects like Fisheries, Horticulture, Forestry, Agronomy, Animal Husbandry, Marine Biology and HomeScience etc and BE/BTech/MTech in Biotechnology/Genetic Engineering are not eligible .

(d) For Radiological Safety Engineering (RSE, code 44): MSc in Physics or Chemistry with Physics and Chemistry up to BSc or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of integrated MSc, and Mathematics up to Std. XII, with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc. Those having MSc in Environmental Science are not eligible.

(e) For Geology Discipline (Code 45): MSc in Geology/ Applied Geology with Mathematics upto BSc. or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated MSc , with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc. Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Geology / Geophysics.

(g) For Geophysics Discipline (Code 46): MSc in Geophysics/ Applied Geophysics with Mathematics up to BSc or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated MSc , with minimum of 60%* aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc. Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Geology / Geophysics.

(h) Those having MSc (by research) or PhD are not eligible.

• A minimum of 60% marks means that 60% minimum marks in the qualifying degree/ P.G. degree as per the ordinance of the respective university in the respective disciplines mentioned in Table- 1.

B. Admission to DGFS: Candidates having qualifying degree in disciplines 21-29 or 41 and who meet the corresponding eligibility criteria listed above are eligible to apply for DGFS provided they secure admission for MTech starting in the academic year 2010 in select institutes in specializations listed in Table-3. Confirmation of MTech admission should be communicated by July 20, 2010, failing which offer of DGFS will be withdrawn retaining their options for OCES schemes if any .

C. Age Limit ( Age as on September 1, 2010 ) a) General Category - 26 years , b) OBC-29 years , c) SC/ST–31 years , d) Dependents of those who died in the riots of 1984 (Dep1984) -31 years e) Persons domiciled in Kashmir division of Jammu and Kashmir State from 01/01/1980 to 31/12/1989 (DomKashmir) – 31 years.
Physically Challenged persons are eligible for age relaxation of maximum up to 10 years.

D. Nationality: Applicant should be an Indian citizen.

E. Applicant working in Central/ State Government Units/ PSUs/ Aided Institutes: Apply through proper channel

F. Application Fee: A non-refundable application-processing fee of Rs. 100/- (Rs. one hundred) for an online application and Rs.200/- (Rs. two hundred) for a postal application is chargeable from the applicants in General and OBC categories. The application fee is to be paid by crossed Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of Accounts Officer, BARC, and payable at Mumbai.

SC/ST applicants and Dependents of Defense Personnel Killed in Action (DODPKIA) are exempted from payment of application fee. Women candidates and physically challenged candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.

Those, whose final results for qualifying degree are awaited and/or are appearing for GATE in 2010, but are otherwise eligible, can also apply. If selected, the mark-sheet of final result should be submitted by November 30, 2010 in case of OCES and as per the requirement of the concerned institute in case of DGFS.
The application fee is to be paid by crossed Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of Accounts Officer, BARC, and payable at Mumbai. The applicant should write his/her name and address at the back of the DD and retain the bank receipt and photocopy of the DD. Do not staple DD.

How to Apply
There are two modes of application: (1) Online, and (2) By Post.

(1) Online Application: Keep the DD in hand for the amount of the Application Fee. Log on to the website www.hrdbarc.gov.in, and follow the instruction there for filling and submitting the Net-form .

(2) Application by Post can be made by taking two photocopies on an A4 size (~8.3"x11.7") paper of the accompanying format as Application Form. No separate application form is issued. Fill in all the relevant information, paste photographs on both the copies and mail both copies along with one set of enclosures and DD towards the application fee to the address given in the application form. One copy shall be returned to the applicant indicating the application number. That copy should be brought along at the time of appearing for Written Test and/ or Interview .

The Entrance Test for admission to Post-graduate Degree Course in Unani Medicines in Mahir-e-Tib (MD) (Moalejet) will be held on Saturday the 16th January, 2010 at Delhi. Interested candidates may apply on the prescribed form.
