VI. School of computer and systems sciences

The school offers academic programmes leading to the degrees in computer science and technology

M.Phil/Ph.D and M.Tech/Ph.D

Eligibility: Master’s degree in computer science or mathematics or statistics or operational research or in any branch of science or bachelor’s degree in any branch of engineering or master of computer applications (MCA) with at least 55% marks

MCA (Master of computer applications): 3 year programme open to candidates with adequate competence in mathematics

Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with adequate competence in mathematics under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks

VII. School of Physical Sciences

Pre-Ph.D./Ph.D in physical sciences/chemical sciences/mathematical science, the emphasis is on topics of chemical physics, computational physics, disordered systems, granular materials, mathematical physics, non-equilibrium statistical mechanics, nonlinear dynamics, quantum chaos, quantum magnetism and strongly correlated systems, quantum optics, statistical nuclear physics; experimental areas include complex fluids, materials science, superconductivity, magnetism, nonlinear optics, semiconductors, polymers and nanoparticle physics

Eligibility

Physical sciences: M.Sc degree in Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics with at least 55% marks. Candidates having majored in Physics or Chemistry should have had mathematics at least up to the B.Sc level. Exceptions can be made in case of applicants with B.Tech (Electronics/Electrical) degrees provided they successfully qualify the entrance examination

Chemical sciences: M.Sc degree in chemistry or physics, with at least 55% marks. Candidates majoring in chemistry should have specialization in organic/inorganic/physical chemistry/chemical physics at the Master’s level

Mathematical sciences: M.Sc degree in mathematics, with at least 55% marks

M.Sc in Physics

Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree (with Physics as one of the subjects) under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with 55% marks in the aggregate (or in physics, chemistry and mathematics combined), or in physics honours

VIII. School of Arts and Aesthetics

M.Phil/Ph.D: The school offers M.Phil/Ph.D programme in three different streams – Visual studies, Theatre and Performance studies and cinema studies (admission to the M.Phil/Ph.D is through a separate entrance examination for each discipline followed by a viva-voce)

Eligibility: Master’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks

M.A. in Arts and Aesthetics: The school offers M.A. programme with cross disciplinary study of the Visual, Cinematic and Performing Arts

Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks

IX. School of Information Technology

Pre-Ph.D./Ph.D in computational biology and bioinformatics

Eligibility: (a) Master’s degree in any branch of sciences such as biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science/MCA (b) MBBS or BHMS or equivalent degree as recognized by govt council such as MCI (c) B.Tech or B.E. or equivalent degree in any branch of engineering, B.Pharm degree or equivalent. Common to all three categories is a minimum requirement of 55% marks

M.Tech in computational and systems biology

Eligibility: (a) Master’s degree in any branch of sciences including biological, chemical, mathematical, physical, statistics, computer sciences/MCA (b) MBBS or BHMS or equivalent degree as recognized by govt council such as MCI (c) B.Tech or B.E. or equivalent degree in any branch of engineering, B.Pharm degree or equivalent. Common to all three categories is a minimum requirement of 55% marks and mathematics till class XII is compulsory

X. School of Biotechnology

Pre-Ph.D./Ph.D in areas of Gene Transfer and expression in Eukaryotic system, Transcription control and Gene regulation, protein engineering, Molecular biology of infectious diseases, Molecular immunology, Protein folding and stability, Optimization of recombinant protein production, structural biology and molecular bioinformatics, and biochemical engineering, molecular virology, cancer biology, molecular cell biology

Eligibility: Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Biochemical engineering, Biochemistry, chemistry, Physics, mathematics or any branch of physical or biological or engineering sciences with at least 55% marks

XI. Centre for Sanskrit studies

M.Phil/Ph.D in Sanskrit

Eligibility: Master’s degree in Sanskrit or in an allied subject (with Sanskrit up to B.A. level) with at least 55% marks

M.A. in Sanskrit

Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in Sanskrit or in any other subject under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks

XII. Centre for Molecular Medicine

Pre-Ph.D/Ph.D in areas of Metobolic disorders, infectious and non-infectious diseases, diagnostics and molecular endocrinology

Eligibility: Master’s degree or equivalent of recognized university/institution in any branch of biological sciences/MBBS/BVSc./B.Pharm or equivalent with at least 55% marks

XIII. Centre for the study of Law and Governance

M.Phil/Ph.D in Law and Governance

Eligibility: Master’s degree in political science, public administration, economics, sociology, history, philosophy or Law with 55% marks, or 60% in any branch of natural science

Eligibility in Law may be read as LL.B (three year) degree after bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks or an LL.B (five year) degree with at least 55% marks in the aggregate or an LL.M degree with at least 50% marks in the aggregate

HOW TO APPLY
How to apply: Sets of application form and prospectus can be obtained either (i) through post by sending crossed bank draft (valid for six months) for Rs 300/- drawn in favour of Jawaharlal Nehru university payable at New Delhi along with a self addressed (unstamped) envelope of the minimum size of 30 cms x 25 cms clearly indicating the category for which the application form is required on the self-addressed envelope to the section officer (admissions), room no 28, administrative block, Jawaharlal Nehru university, New Delhi-110067.

Candidates seeking application form and prospectus from Nepal are required to send a bank draft of Indian Rs 400/- or equivalent in US dollars. Money orders and cheques are not accepted. Do not send your request through private courier services; or (ii) in person from the counter in the administrative block of the university on cash payment of Rs 200/- per set from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and from 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. on all working days (Monday to Friday). BPL card holders will be issued a set of application form and prospectus free of cost on submission of a copy of the BPL card issued by the competent authority showing their name in the card

PGDM (Financial Markets) Admission 2010

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management is ITM’s Flagship Management Program.. It is a two-year, full time, fully residential program approved by AICTE.

Eligibility Criteria: Graduates in any discipline with 50% minimum marks from any university recognized by the Association of Indian Universities are eligible. Candidates in their final year of graduation may also apply.

Having Work Experience is not a requirement for admission to the program, however candidates with work experience are welcome.

Entrance Test Score Submission: ITM uses standardized management entrance test scores as a part of its overall selection process. Candidates are not selected/disqualified on the basis of their test scores only. The test score is just one part of an overall candidate profile. The following test scores are accepted:

National IT Aptitude Test (NITAT)



The National IT Aptitude Test (NITAT), which enables students and graduates to gauge their aptitude and potential for a career in the booming IT industry, will be conducted in 160 cities across the country on 21th February, 2010

The country's largest aptitude test is conducted by NIIT, country's largest trainer. NITAT 2010 (IT aptitude test) will be simultaneously conducted by NIIT in over 160 cities in the country on 21th February, 2010

Those desirous of taking the test should register online on or at the nearest NIIT centres.

The test will comprise of objective type test of reasoning, comprehension, data interpretation skills and behavioral traits. Every student who takes the test will receive a scorecard with their interpretation, along with his nationwide and zonal ranking. The assessment is expected to be of particular benefit to graduating engineers in deciding the careers that they should take up. The test is aimed at enabling students to gauge their aptitude for a career in the IT sector, identify skills further required, if any, and thus systematically charter their career into the IT industry.


According to an NIIT press release, special recognition certificates to toppers will be invited to attend a special placement fair at several locations across the country.

It's a 100-minute objective-type examination specially designed by NIIT to evaluate IT aptitude


It is India's largest and most widely recognized IT Aptitude Test conducted simultaneously across 180+ cities

M.Phil Programme 2010

The National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA), established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, is a premier organization dealing with capacity building and research in planning and management of education not only in India but also in South Asia. In recognition of the pioneering work done by the organization in the field of educational planning and administration, the Government of India have empowered it to award its own degrees by way of conferring it the status of Deemed to be University in August, 2006. Like any Central University, NUEPA is fully maintained by the Government of India.

Eligibility: (a) A candidate seeking admission to the M.Phil. And Ph.D. programmes shall have a minimum of 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST candidates and Persons with Disabilities) or its equivalent grade in Master’s Degree in education, social sciences and allied disciplines from a recognized university. Candidates possessing Master’s degree in other areas may also be considered if he/she has proven record of work/publication in the area of educational policy, planning and administration.
* A candidate seeking admission to Ph.D. programme shall have an M.Phil. Degree in an area closely related to educational planning and administration and/or exceptionally brilliant academic record coupled with publications of high quality.

* M.Phil. Graduates of NUEPA will be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. Programme after due scrutiny by a Selection/Admission Committee, if they obtain a FGPA of 6 or above on the ten point scale. This will be applicable for all admissions from 2008 onwards.

Application Procedure: Candidates may apply in the prescribed form for admission to M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes of the University along with three copies of the brief write-up (in the prescribed format) on the proposed research topic of a contemporary issue within the broad framework of educational policy, planning and administration. For further details, please refer to the M.Phil.-Ph.D. Prospectus, 2010–11 of the University.
The application form can be obtained from NUEPA by remitting a sum of Rs. 200/- ( Rs.100/- for SC/ST candidates) by demand draft in favour of Registrar, NUEPA, payable at New Delhi if required by Post or purchased in
person. The Prospectus can be downloaded from our website: www.nuepa.org and demand draft of Rs.200/- (Rs.100/- for SC/STcandidates) should be attached with the application at the time of submission toNUEPA.

Selection Procedure: The University reserves the right to decide the number of seats to be filled in the year 2010-11; the criteria for screening
of applications; and the selection procedure of candidates for admission to its M.Phil. and Ph.D.programmes. The mode of selection of candidates will be as under:
* Initial short-listing of applications will be carried out on the basis of relevance and quality of the brief write-up (in the prescribed format) in the proposed area of research to be submitted along with the application form;

* Short-listed candidates will be subjected to second level of screening through which the University will assess their motivation and potential.

Fee Details:
Course Fee: There is no course fee for the candidates sponsored by the State/Central Government Departments/Armed forces. For the non-sponsored government/private candidates and the sponsored candidates from private institutions, the course fee is Rs.1, 00,000/- (Rupees One lakh only) (non-refundable), payable at the rate of Rs.50, 000/= (Rupees Fifty thousand only) per year, at the beginning of each academic year.
Application Fee Applications should be submitted along with the application fee of Rs.600/- (Rupees Six hundred only) by means of a Demand Draft drawn on any nationalized bank in favour of “SCTIMST” payable at Thiruvananthapuram. Applications without the application fee will not be considered.

Application Procedure: Candidates should submit an advance copy of the application in the prescribed form with the Application Fee of Rs.600/= (original Demand Draft) and other enclosures by Registered/Speed Post, to reach NIE, directly, on or before the last date. They should send a copy of the Demand Draft along with their original application through proper channel.

On behalf of the participating Universities, the Jawaharlal Nehru University will hold Combined Biotechnology Entrance Examination on Thursday, the 20th May, 2010, for admission to (1) M.Sc. Candidates with Bachelor degree in Biology (3 Years duration) will have to spend 3 years in M.Sc. programme.

Only those candidates who have passed the qualifying examinations in 2008 or thereafter including those who are appearing in 2010 are eligible to apply. In other words, those who have passed the qualifying examination prior to 2008, are not eligible to apply.

M.Tech in Biotechnology
M.Tech (Biotechnology) programme at Anna University, Chennai; Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi, Kerala; and West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata

Eligibility: Minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade in any one B.Tech/B.E. in Chemical Engineering/Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, Leather Technology, Chemistry/Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, B. Pharma, Chemical Technology, or M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Biophysics, Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics.

For Anna University, candidates with B.Tech/B.E in Electrochemistry, Bioengineering and M.Sc. in Chemistry and Physics are also eligible.

For West Bengal University of Technology, candidates with M.Sc. in Bioengineering are also eligible.

For Cochin University of Science and Technology, candidates with M.Sc in Marine Biotechnology, Marine Biology/Aquatic Biology and Fisheries, Environmental Biotechnology are also eligible.

Only those candidates who have passed the qualifying examinations in 2008 or thereafter including those who are appearing in 2010 are eligible to apply. In other words, those who have passed the qualifying examination prior to 2008, are not eligible to apply.

Reservation/concession

Reservation:15%, 7½% and 3% of seats shall be reserved for SC/ST/PH candidates respectively. All the SC/ST and PH candidates who have passed the qualifying examination are eligible to apply irrespective of their percentage of marks in the qualifying degree examination. OBC reservation, wherever applicable, will be implemented as per the policy of each participating University.

Concession for Kashmiri Migrants: 10% marks will be added to the overall marks scored by a Kashmiri Migrant candidate in the entrance examination. After adding 10% marks, in case he/she is covered in the cut-off point in the merit list, he/she will be offered admission strictly in accordance with his/her inter-se merit along with other candidates subject to his/her meeting the minimum prescribed eligibility requirements and also subject to his/her producing valid registration documents issued by the notified authorities certifying the candidate’s Kashmiri Migrant status.

Tuition fee/scholarship

Fee shall be charged from the admitted candidates as per the fee structure of the concerned university. Candidates selected for admission are generally eligible for scholarship at the rates prescribed by the Dept. of Biotechnology.

Procedure for getting the form
By Post: To receive the application form by post candidates should send their request only to the section officer (Admissions), room no 28, Administrative block, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-110067, along with a bank draft (valid for six months) of Rs.260/- (for one set of application form and prospectus). The bank draft should be drawn in favour of Jawaharlal Nehru University payable at New Delhi. The request should accompany a self-addressed unstamped envelope of the size of 30 x 25 cms indicating clearly on the top of the self addressed envelope the programme for which application form is required, i.e., M.Sc. Biotechnology or M.Sc. (Agri.)/ M.V.Sc. Biotechnology or M.Tech. Biotechnology.

In Person: Sets of application form and prospectus can be obtained personally on cash payment of Rs.200/- per set from any of the participating University as shown above. Please do not send your request through private courier services.
