(a) Candidates who have qualified for Masters Degree with not less than a second class or as equivalent grade and in the case of examination where classification does not exist, a minimum of 50% of marks is needed in the qualifying examination in the subjects in the faculties of Arts, Science, Fine Arts, Indian and other languages, Management, Commerce, Engineering, Para Medical Sciences etc., and CA, CFA, ACS or ICWA are eligible to register for Ph.D in VELS University under this category. Their degrees must have been awarded by VELS University or any other University approved by UGC for the award of degree in the concerned discipline. 1.1. (b) Research fellows of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) / Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) / Babha Atomic Research Centre (BARC)/ Researchers / Scientists / Junior Research Fellows, Senior Research Fellows /Research Assistants/Technical Assistants etc., working in research projects funded by external agencies such as Department of Science & Technology (DST) / University Grants Commission (UGC) /Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) / Department of Biotechnology (DBT) / Department of Environment (DOE)/BRNS/AICTE and similar national and state level organizations are also eligible to register for Ph.D under full-time Research provided they fulfill the eligible educational qualification norms prescribed by the University. Research scholars within the definition of this category are those, who pursue their full-time doctoral research under the guidance of a Research Supervisor in the departments of VELS University. 1.2. Part-time Research Scholars Irrespective of his/her employment status, the candidate who wishes to pursue doctoral research in VELS University is eligible to register under part-time research provided he/she fulfills the eligible qualification norms prescribed by this University. Research scholar who comes within this category of his/her employment status can pursue his/her doctoral research under the guidance of a Research Supervisor on Part-time basis in VELS University. 1.3 Part-time External They shall pursue research in their place of employment and/ or in this University, such candidates shall spend atleast one full semester in this University within the minimum period as applicable from the date of registration. There shall be a co-guide / research co-ordinator from the Institution where he/ she is employed. 2. Registration 2.1. Ph.D in Management Admissions 2011

Applications have been invited by Nirma University, Ahmedabad, for admission to full-time Ph.D course in Management of Academic Session June 2011.

Eligibility :
Those aspiring to be admitted in the Ph.D. programme must hold a master's degree or equivalent (such as PGDM) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA. Candidates appearing for final examination can also apply, provided they satisfy the eligibility requirement by June 30, 2011.

Selection Process:
The selection procedure for admission consists of two steps :
(i) Written Test:
Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of their applications and supporting documents and those who are eligible will be called for a written test. The written test will be held atAhmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi and Jaipur.
(ii) Personal Interview:
Candidates short-listed on the basis of their performance in the written test will be called for personal interview on the same day of written test.
The final selection to the programme would be based on the candidate’s performance in the written test and personal interview. The personal interviews are normally held only at Ahmedabad.

MBBS, BDS and BAMS Admissions 2011

Amrita Entrance Examination (Medical) 2011, for admission to MBBS, BDS and BAMS (Ayurveda) courses under the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, will be held from 10 am to 12.30 pm on 22nd May 2011 (Sunday) at Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Kozhikode, Kochi, Amritapuri (Kollam) and Thiruvananthapuram and also at California, U.S.A.

Amrita Entrance Exam will be of objective type with approximately 25 questions from Physics, 35 from Chemistry, 70 from Biology/Biotechnology, 10 from English and 10 from General Knowledge. The syllabus for Amrita Entrance Examination will be as per the 10 + 2 examination (CBSE). Each correct response will be awarded three marks and for each incorrect response one mark will be deducted from the total score.

Applicant should have attained at least 17 years of age as on 31st December 2011, but should not have crossed the age of 23 years as on that date. Applicant must have passed plus two or equivalent Examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology /Biotechnology and English. They should have passed in these subjects individually and should have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in English and 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together, from any State Higher Secondary Board or equivalent (Biotechnology subject will be considered only for MBBS). For SC/ST Candidates, minimum marks required in plus two is 50% and 40% in the Amrita Entrance Examination.

Applicant must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination/equivalent in first attempt (Exemptions may be considered only on medical grounds and the decision of the Chairman-Admissions will be final and binding). The last two years of such study should include Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English (Biotechnology subject will be considered only for MBBS). Students studying in foreign countries following a syllabus other than any Indian syllabus should produce an Equivalence Certificate from The Association of Indian Universities, A.I.U House, 16 Comrade Indrajit Gupta Marg [Kotla Marg], New Delhi-110002.

Those awaiting results of the qualifying examination can also write the Amrita Entrance Examination subject to their producing the mark list of the qualifying examination on or before 6th June 2011. GROUP A: (Minimum qualification prescribed is an equivalent to 10+2 Higher Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years of study, the last two years of study comprising Physics, Chemistry and Biology with English; candidates should have been born on or before 31 Dec 1994)

1. MBBS: A candidate for admission to medical course "must have 60%@ marks at +2 level in each of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Botany and Zoology taken together) and have an aggregate of 140/200 in these subjects, both at qualifying and competitive examinations and should have passed in English" (@ 60% in each and 130/200 aggregate for BC, 55% in each and 120/200 aggregate for MBC, and 40% in each and 80/200 aggregate for SC/ST candidates).

2. BSc in (Nsg): Candidates should have a pass with 45% aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology).

3. BOT: Candidates should have a pass in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology

4. BPT: Same as above

5. BSc MLT: Same as above

6. Bsc optometry: Same as above

1. Dip in Nursing: (10+2) Plus two or its equivalent examination securing pass with aggregate 40% marks. Single men or women only; age between 17 & 22 years by 30 Sept 2011.

26. Fellowship in Hospital Admin: MBBS or a Master’s degree in any discipline.
