The filled in application form with the following documents should be sent to the University.
a. Demand Draft for Rs. 1000/-, for General / OBC and Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/DA candidates (for downloaded application only) drawn in favour of “INDIAN MARITIME UNIVERSITY”, payable at ‘CHENNAI’. B.Sc. SHIP BUILDING & REPAIR

Aim and Objectives
The programme is designed to educate and train the students in ship building technology with a view to perform shop floor work at ship building or ship repair industries.
The programme is designed as a combination of Lectures, Practicals and workshop and apprenticeship at a shipyard. The lectures and practicals are equally divided in the whole duration of the programme.
The programme will have six semesters of which two semesters of lectures will be conducted by IMU. The remaining four semesters will be conducted by the Institute of which one semester will be theory (lectures) and the remaining three semesters will be practicals with a major focus towards practicals.
Duration
The programme of three years comprises of six semesters. A student is expected to complete the programme in 3 years period and those who could not do so can complete in within 5 years (not more than 10 semesters).
Location
The programme will be conducted jointly by IMU Cochin campus and College of Ship Technology, Poonjamthodi, Kannanora Pattola, Puthucode, Palakkad district, Kerala having the requisite facilities of workshop and a tie up with TEBMA ship yeard Ltd. for apprenticeship of students.
Entry Requirements
A pass in 10+2 or its equivalent examination with minimum 60% aggregate in the Physics, Chemistry and mathematics group, and at least 50% in English at 10th or 12th Standard.
Age
17 to 25 years as on August 2011
SC/ST : relaxable as per Government guidelines.
Physical Fitness
All qualified candidates will have to submit a Physical Fitness certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner in a prescribed format that will be made available to them at an appropriate time.
Eligibility
Unmarried (male/female) Indian Citizens, limited foreign nationals may be admitted.

It involves 2 stages

HOW TO APPLY
The IMU – CET application form will be made available through the following channels:
1. The application form along with the information brochure and admission procedure can be availed at selected branches of Indian Bank by paying Rs. 800/- (Rs. 450/- for SC/ST Candidates).
2. Download the application form, Information Brochure & Payment Challan through online at
http://www.imu.tn.nic.in/ , fee viz. Rs. 800/- (Rs. 450/- for SC/ST Candidates) can be paid through Challan payable at any of the SBI/Indian Bank branches all over India.
3. Through Post by sending a demand draft valued Rs. 800/- (Rs. 450/- for SC/ST Candidates) in favor of “Indian Maritime University” payable at Chennai to the university.
4. Direct Visit to our University Offices at Chennai / Mumbai / Kolkata / Vizag and Cochin by submitting a Demand Draft valued Rs. 800/- (Rs. 450/- for SC/ST Candidates) in favor of “Indian Maritime University” payable at Chennai.
Admission Procedure
1. The admission for this programme is offered in August. IMU invites applications from prospective learners through advertisements in national and regional dailies detailing all the relevant information and criteria for admission.
2. It is mandatory for all the candidates to qualify in the Common Entrance Test conducted by IMU to seek admission in B.Sc., (Ship Buildings & Repairs) and B.Tech Marine Engineering programme of IMU irrespective of whether their candidature is sponsored by a Shipping Company/DGS approved (RPS registered) manning agent or not.
3. The eligible candidates in all respects i.e. educational qualifications, age, physical and medical standards and eye-sight is advised to apply for the Common Entrance Test conducted by IMU. Those appearing for qualifying examination (i.e. 10+2/ B.Sc./ B.Tech.) are also eligible to apply provided they meet all the eligibility criteria and produce the certificates to that effect to the IMU authorities for verification at the time of counseling and submit to the respective Institute at the time of joining the course.
4. Various employing shipping companies/ their manning agents registered with the Directorate General of Shipping, Mumbai may also advertise for the programme for selection of candidates for sponsorship clearly mandating that all such candidates will have to appear in the Entrance Examination to be conducted by IMU, for which the candidates shall make separate application to IMU. In case of Sponsored candidates, the companies are free to select IMU-CET qualified candidates of their choice and to set their own ‘addon’ criteria of selection (Psychometric test / Written test/ Interviews/ Higher passing percentage in eligibility educational qualification examination etc.) provided they meet the minimum eligibility as prescribed in “Eligibility” given. All such aspirants must qualify in the IMU-CET. Thus, they need to additionally apply for the Common Entrance Test of IMU. For the Sponsored candidates it would be sufficient that they are declared qualified in the Common Entrance Test and are sponsored by the Shipping Companies / DGS approved (RPS registered) Manning Agents. All such Sponsored candidates who qualify in the Common Entrance Test conducted by IMU shall be selected by the Shipping Companies / DGS approved manning agents who sponsor such candidates for admission to be made at the respective Training Institute having tie-up with such companies. Thus, in case of sponsored candidates, this allocation of Training Institutes is directly done by the sponsoring shipping companies / registered manning agents and accordingly these sponsoring shipping companies / registered manning agents shall communicate to the Sponsored candidates as well as IMU the name of Training Institute allotted to them as per the tie up between the sponsoring shipping companies /registered manning agents and the Training Institutes.
5. The Common Entrance Examination shall have 150 objective type multiple choice questions each carrying one mark distributed in six subjects which are to be attempted in 3 hours duration. The standard of this Common Entrance Test will generally be that of 10+2 level.

6. There are two distinct forms in this Prospectus for the IMU- CET. The Application Form ‘A’ is to be filled in by the candidate to get qualified in the IMU-Common Entrance Test. The same has to be submitted at the time of certificate verification in the case of sponsored candidates.
7. Completed Application Form should be sent to “Controller of Examinations; Indian Maritime University; East Coast Road; Uthandi; Chennai-600119” in an envelope super-scribed “Application form for B.Tech Marine Engineering / B.Sc Ship Building & Repair for Common Entrance Test along with proof of payment or payment challan or demand draft for Rs.800/- (Rs.450/- for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of “Indian Maritime University” payable at Chennai. The applicants are advised to write their name, address and Phone No. on the reverse of the D.D. Incomplete Application Forms or those received after the due date (27th May 2011) will be summarily rejected and no enquiries will be entertained in this regard. The students are, therefore, advised to fill the relevant information carefully in the Application Form. The University will not accept any statement from the students about their ignorance in meeting these requirements.

For deputed in-service candidates (i.e. trained physical education teachers/coaches), Graduation with 45% marks and at least three years of teaching experience;

B.Pharm. 2nd year (Direct admission through lateral entry): D.Pharm. with 45% marks in aggregate.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR SPONSORED CANDIDATES:
M.Sc./M.C.A./B.P. Ed.: The admission for sponsored candiates/ NRI sponsored candidates to M.Sc. (all subject)/MCA shall be made on the basis of educational merit. The entrance merit comprising 30% of total marks secured in High School, 30% of total marks secured in Intermediate (10+2) and 40% of the total marks secured in Graduation shall be added and admission shall be made on merit list prepared on the basis of the above criterian. The Sponsored/N.R.I. Sponsored candidates of B.P.Ed. will have to undergo the physical fitness test, sports skill test and interview in addition to above mentioned educational merit.
B.Pharm. I year: For B.Pharm. I year the admission for Sponsored/NRI sponsored candidates shall be given on the basis of merit list based on the percentage of marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics/Biology/Biotechnology/Computer Science at intermediate (10+2) examination.

Those who are seeking admission for PG Diploma in Game Development should have completed B.E / B.Tech / MCA / M.Sc or Any Under Graduate Degree with Computer Science as the specialization or Any Under Graduate Degree with proficiency in C or C++ along with understanding of Mathematics and Physics.

Eligibility for admission:
1. BASLP : Students who have passed with minimum of 50% in II PUC in the PCMB group or any other examination
(10+2) considered as equivalent thereto by the University of Mysore with at least three subjects from among
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology, who have not completed 21 years, as on
1st July of the academic year in which admission is sought, are eligible for admission.
Entrance Examination will be conducted at Mysore, Mumbai, Delhi , Kolkata, Chennai, Bhopal for admission to the
BASLP programme on 4 June 2011 (Saturday) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.
2. B. S. Ed. (Hearing Impairment): Students who have passed B. Ed. degree examination of the University of
Mysore or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the University of Mysore with minimum of
50% of the aggregate and who have not completed 30 years of age as on the 1st July of the academic year in
which admission is sought are eligible for admission. Relaxation of age (up to 10 years) shall be considered for
candidates on deputation/ in-service with the approval of the University.
3. P. G. Diploma in Clinical Linguistics for Speech-language Pathology: Candidates with B. Sc. (Sp. & Hg) or
equivalent from any recognized university and approved by RCI with 50% marks.
4. P. G. Diploma in Forensic Speech Sciences and Technology: Candidates having B. Sc. with Physics/
Mathematics/Electronics/Computer Science/Forensic Science/Speech and Hearing as major

Admission to Ph.D. Programme

The CSIR-CDRI invites applications for admission to its Ph.D. programmes:


1. Conditions for eligibility:

M.Sc or equivalent in Life sciences/Biotechnology/Chemical/

Pharmaceutical sciences and qualified in CSIR-UGC-NET, ICMR, DBT examination for Junior Research Fellowship. The fellowship should be valid as on the date of joining.

Candidates appearing in final exams in 2011 and who have cleared the above exams for JRF can also apply.





2. How to apply:

Candidates need to fill up the on-line application form that is available at the institute’s website (till 18 May 2011). After submitting the online application form, print out the ID ticket generated and mail it along with photograph, photocopies of certificates of date of birth, educational qualifications and proof for qualifying JRF to Scientist-in-Charge, Academy Affairs Unit, Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR), Chattar Manzil, Lucknow-226 001 latest by 25th May, 2011.


Applications without hard copy submission of documents will not be considered.


3. Selection process: All applications will be screened by a committee and only those candidates who are found suitable will be called for interview/counselling at CDRI, Lucknow on 27 and 28 June, 2011. The committee can set their own criteria for short listing the candidates. No TA will be paid by CDRI and candidates will have to make their own arrangements for 2-3 days stay at Lucknow. The number of students to be selected will depend on the vacancies available with scientists at CDRI.

Eligibility for Enrolment of Ph.D. 1.1. Full-time Research Scholars High Level Research Advisory Board M.Phil Admission Procedure 1.1. (a) Candidates who have qualified for Masters Degree with not less than a second class or as equivalent grade and in the case of examination where classification does not exist, a minimum of 50% of marks is needed in the qualifying examination in the subjects in the faculties of Arts, Science, Fine Arts, Indian and other languages, Management, Commerce, Engineering, Para Medical Sciences etc., and CA, CFA, ACS or ICWA are eligible to register for Ph.D in VELS University under this category. Their degrees must have been awarded by VELS University or any other University approved by UGC for the award of degree in the concerned discipline. 1.1. (b) Research fellows of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) / Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) / Babha Atomic Research Centre (BARC)/ Researchers / Scientists / Junior Research Fellows, Senior Research Fellows /Research Assistants/Technical Assistants etc., working in research projects funded by external agencies such as Department of Science & Technology (DST) / University Grants Commission (UGC) /Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) / Department of Biotechnology (DBT) / Department of Environment (DOE)/BRNS/AICTE and similar national and state level organizations are also eligible to register for Ph.D under full-time Research provided they fulfill the eligible educational qualification norms prescribed by the University. Research scholars within the definition of this category are those, who pursue their full-time doctoral research under the guidance of a Research Supervisor in the departments of VELS University. 1.2. Part-time Research Scholars Irrespective of his/her employment status, the candidate who wishes to pursue doctoral research in VELS University is eligible to register under part-time research provided he/she fulfills the eligible qualification norms prescribed by this University. Research scholar who comes within this category of his/her employment status can pursue his/her doctoral research under the guidance of a Research Supervisor on Part-time basis in VELS University. 1.3 Part-time External They shall pursue research in their place of employment and/ or in this University, such candidates shall spend atleast one full semester in this University within the minimum period as applicable from the date of registration. There shall be a co-guide / research co-ordinator from the Institution where he/ she is employed. 2. Registration 2.1. Application Application form for Ph.D will be issued by the University office on payment of Rs.- 500/-. The last two years of study shall comprise of Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) with English as a compulsory subject. 2) The General Merit Candidate should have passed in the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English individually and must have obtained at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together and should have also passed in English language in the qualifying examinations i.e. PUC II / 10+2 / HSC or equivalent. As per the Dental Council of India (DCI) norms the candidates must have passed these subjects individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks taken together in PCB, Further must secure not less than 50% marks in PCB in the Common Entrance Test (JSS University Entrance Test - 2011.) 3) The SC, ST , OBC and CAT – I Candidate of Karnataka should have passed in the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English individually and must have obtained at least 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology taken together and should have also passed in English language in the qualifying examinations i.e. PUC II / 10+2 / HSC or equivalent. As per the Dental Council of India (DCI) norms the candidates must have passed these subjects individually and must have obtained a minimum of 40% of marks taken together in PCB, Further must secure not less than 40% marks in PCB in the Common Entrance Test (JSS University Entrance Test - 2011.) 4) Age: The candidate should complete 17 years of age on or before 31st December 2011 for admission to BDS programme. Application Procedure: A candidate desirous of appearing in the JSS University Entrance Test – 2011 for Undergraduate Dental Course is required to complete the prescribed application form and submit to the University in the following ways: • A candidate is required to download the prescribed application form from the University website: www.jssuni.edu.in and submit the completed form to the University on or before the scheduled date (A copy of the application form is given at ANNEXURE – I).
