However Karnataka State Women's University, will conduct the entrance test to fill the unfilled seats. Application Form 

Filled in application with relevant documents and University pay-in-slip  Rs.250/- (Rupees Two hundred and  fifty only) or  a single DD for Rs.260/- (Rupees Two hundred and  sixty only)  towards Registration Fee and cost  of  application, in favour of the Finance Officer, University of Kerala from SBT/State District Co-operative Bank at Thiruvananthapuram should be sent to the  PRINCIPAL of the concerned college.

SC/ST  candidates must pay fees of Rs.100/- (Rupees Hundred only), and   Rs110/-( Rupees One Hundred and Ten only) if paid  by DD.


Separate applications and pay-in-slip/DD are necessary for applying in different districts.

The last date for receiving the filled in application will be 25.07.2012.

  Creamylayer Certificate will not be accepted instead of Caste and                                         Income Certificate.

National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health, Mumbai, a premier institute of the Indian Council of Medical Research, conducts basic, clinical and operational research in different areas of reproductive health. The thrust areas of research include: Fertility Regulation, Infertility and Reproductive Disorders, Reproductive Tract Infections, Maternal and Child Health, Osteoporosis, Genetic Disorders, Stem Cell Biology, Structural Biology, Bioinformatics and Reproductive Toxicology. Institute is affiliated to the University of Mumbai for the award of Ph.D. degree in Applied Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences and Biotechnology. The institute invites applications from young and bright students for enrollment in Ph.D. programme.

Who can apply:
Candidates with M.Sc. in Biological Sciences/ M.Pharm./ M.V.Sc. or M.B.B.S. (securing not less than 60% marks for general category candidates and not less than 55% for SC/ST candidates in all major examinations from higher secondary (10 + 2) onwards), and willing to take up challenges in modern biology through Ph.D. programme of the Institute may submit their application in the prescribed format. Candidates who have qualified in the Ph.D. entrance test conducted by the University of Mumbai OR qualified in the fellowship examination conducted by CSIR/UGC/ICAR/ICMR/DBT only are eligible to apply.

Upper age limit is 28 years as on 10 th August 2012 (the deadline for submission of application) and it is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC/Physically handicapped persons as well as women candidates as per Government of India rules in this regard.

How to apply:
Application form available at the NIRRH website (www.nirrh.res.in)http://www.bicnirrh.res.in/phd2012 should be duly filled and submitted online. Printed copy of the filled application form should be submitted alongwith a Demand Draft for Rs 300/- (no application fee for SC/ST/PH candidates provided they submit supporting document) drawn in favour of “Director, NIRRH Mumbai” to In-charge, Post Graduate Studies, National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health, Jehangir Merwanji Street, Parel, Mumbai 400012so as to reach on or before 10 th August 2012. Envelope should be marked as “NIRRH Ph.D. 2012”. Incomplete applications and applications received after the closing date will be disqualified.

Selection Procedure:
The names of the short listed candidates to be called for interview will be displayed on the NIRRH website along with Date and Time of interview (candidates have to note that individual letters regarding date and time of interview will not be sent).

The selected candidates, who have passed CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT examination will be preferred and avail fellowship as per the rules of these agencies. Other selected candidates will initially be paid Rs 8000/- per month for two years and encouraged to seek fellowship from other funding agencies. Reservation for various category candidates will be as per University of Mumbai guidelines.

NIRRH reserves the right to change the minimum eligibility requirements in case of receipt of large number of applications. The decision of the Admission Committee will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence will be treated as disqualification. No traveling allowance shall be provided by the Institute and outstation candidates appearing for interview should make their own arrangements for their stay in Mumbai.

Limited Hostel facility is available for outstation women candidates selected for the Ph.D. programme.

Eligibility
A student seeking an admission to Ph.D. Programme of the University is required to have minimum educational qualification as mentioned hereunder:

For research in an area of Engg./Technology/Sciences
(i) Master Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in an appropriate area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks.
OR
(ii) Master Degree in Science or equivalent in an appropriate area with first class or a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks, where class is not awarded.

For research in an area of Management
(a) M.B.A./M.Tech./M.E. with at least 60 percent marks or equivalent, or
(b) A professional qualification like A.C.A, A.I.C.W.A., A.C.S. with at least 60 percent marks or equivalent.

For research in an area related to Liberal Studies i.e.English Language & Literature, Public Administration and Public Policy 
M. A. with minimum 55% or its equivalent in an appropriate area

Selection procedure: 
A discipline wise (e.g. Civil Engg./Management) written Aptitude Test will be conducted on 4 August 2012 in SPT-1 building of the University campus from 9-30 a.m. to 11-30 a.m..This will be followed by Personal Interview on the same day from 12 noon onward. The list of the selected candidates will be announced on the website 8 August 2012.
