N O T I F I C A T I O N

1. Applications are invited for the Entrance Examination for admission to Three Year LL.B Course-2009-10 in the Government Law Colleges at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode.
2. Eligibility for Admission
(i) Nativity: Applicant should be an Indian citizen of Kerala Origin.
(ii) Academic qualifications: Applicant should be a Graduate in any faculty of any University in Kerala or of any other Universities, recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala as equivalent thereto, with a minimum of 40% marks in aggregate (for all parts of the Degree examination taken together).
Candidates seeking admission under SC/ST category should have passed the qualifying examination with 35% marks. Candidates who are appearing /have appeared for the qualifying examination (regular) this year are also eligible to apply for the Entrance Examination subject to the condition that they should produce the original Mark lists of all parts and Provisional Degree/Degree certificate of the qualifying examination at the time of Centralized Allotment Process.
(iii) Age: There is no upper age limit for admission to the 3 year LL.B Course.
3. Entrance Examination: The Entrance Examination will be conducted at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikkode on 30-08-2009 (Sunday). It will be of 3 hours duration and will consist of 200 Multiple Choice Questions. The Questions will cover General Knowledge, English and Aptitude for Legal Studies.

5. Last date and time for receipt of filled-in application forms Completed applications with all the documents should be forwarded to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Buildings, 5th Floor, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram– 695 001 either by Registered post or by hand delivery so as to reach him before 5 pm on 14.08.2009.
Late applications will not be accepted. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will not be responsible for any postal delay. Incomplete, defective and wrongly addressed applications will be summarily rejected and no correspondence will be undertaken in this regard.
6. Application Fee: For General candidates, the application fee is Rs.600/- (Rupees Six Hundred Only) and for SC/ST Candidates the application fee is Rs.300/- (Rupees Three Hundred Only).Keralites residing inside Kerala State, can remit the Application fee in any branch of the State bank of Travancore using the Challan provided on page No.7 of the application form. The original Challan contained in page No.7 shall be attached with the application form duly signed and authorized by Bank authorities on remittance of application fees. Keralites residing outside Kerala State, can remit the application fee by attaching a Demand Draft for the requisite amount drawn on a Nationalized Bank in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, payable at Thiruvananthapuram.
7. Candidates will not be allowed to include any information in the application form after the submission of the application under any circumstances.
8. Candidates must note that they have to obtain the required certificates in the body of the application form itself, wherever necessary. The certificates that are attached separately in the application form will not be considered under any circumstances.
9. The admission to the course will be through a Centralized Allotment Process (CAP) after the publication of the results of the Entrance examination. The date, time and place of CAP will be announced later. Individual memos will not be sent to candidates in this regard. All original certificates in support of various claims preferred in the application form will have to be submitted at the time of Centralized Allotment Process. No extension of time will be granted for this.
10. The Entrance Examination and subsequent allotments will be based on the various provisions laid down in the prospectus, approved by Government. Candidates are directed to go through the various provisions in the Prospectus available in the Official website of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations “cee-kerala.org” before submitting their applications.

Evaluation and Award of Degree
The candidates performance will be evaluated as follows:

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
The objective of the programme is to develop trained professionals for the increasing demand in the growing Indian Retail sector. The programme aims to develop an understanding of the retail market and introduce the basic retailing concepts.

The course focuses on acquiring the fundamental retail operational knowledge and skill sets required for an effective service and management in retail organizations. The course prepares aspirant who want to enter the world of retailing through front line sales and operations. National Defence Academy (NDA)

The National Defence Academy of India located in Khadakwasla, Pune, is a joint services academy where cadets of the three wings Army, Navy and Air Force are trained together before they go for their pre-commission training to their respective academies. It covers an area of roughly 8,300 acres.

The NDA is one way of building a strong foundation for a career in the Indian military services. The academy moulds out the young pliable minds into men, who lead their men by example. The academic part of the three-year course includes all subjects typical of a University Degree (B.Sc.,B.A.,B.Sc.Comp Sc.) and more importantly, basic training of fundamental military sciences. In the first two years, all cadets are trained on the tri-services and in the final year,the cadet is further trained on the service (Army, Air Force or Navy)that he was selected for. Cadets are trained for overall development, right from academic training, military strategies, outdoor activities like para gliding, sailing, horsemanship, rock climbing, etc. to physical training, firing and other such activities.

On successful completion of the three-year course, the cadet is given a University Degree (affiliated to the JNU, New Delhi) and goes on to the training establishments of the Service he has opted for. Army cadets go to the IMA at Dehra Dun, Air Force cadets to the Air Force Academy at Hyderabad and the Naval cadets to training ships. Navy has the least number of vacancies (about 40) followed by Airforce (about 50), while the rest of the 300 odd seats are for the Army. Indian Army is the biggest and the oldest of the three branches of Indian Defence Services.

Admission to NDA

Admission to the NDA is conducted twice a year via an entrance examination held every six months by the UPSC, and a multiple-round interview including psychology tests and group tasks conducted by SSB (Service Selection Board).

Applications on prescribed format are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the B.Ed regular course.

Eligibility:
The candidates must have passed their Bachelor’s degree examination in the Faculties of Arts, Science, Social Sciences, Commerce, BCA, BBA (under 10+2+3 or 10+2+2/10+1+3 pattern), Engineering, Medicine, Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Forestry, Music and Fine Arts from the Universities and have secured at least 45% of the aggregate marks in the qualifying examination in case of General Category and 40% in case of disadvantaged sections like SCs/STs/OBC/Actual line of control/RBA/Disabled categories (the principle of rounding of 1/2 mark and above into one whole mark shall also be applicable, meaning thereby that a candidate having secured 44.50% in case of general category and 39.50% in case of disadvantaged sections like SCs/STs/OBC classes/Actual line of control/RBA/Disabled categories in the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply). However, one sitting B.A. Degree (External Examination) conducted by any University in the country is not recognized for the purpose of Admission to the B.Ed Course

ADMISSION PROCEDURE:
. Prospectus and Application for various courses may be obtained either from The Registrar, Vels University or the City Centre office of Vels University by Paying Rs.350/- in cash in person or by sending DD for Rs.400/- favoring The Registrar, Vels University, payable at Chennai or by simply downloading from the website. The downloaded application must be accompanied by a DD for Rs.400/-.
. The last date for receipt of completed application forms at the University Office is the tenth day from the date of publication of the results of the qualifying examinations for UG Courses (Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Examinations) and 15 days after the publication of the results of under graduate course examinations for PG Courses. The dates will be published in National dailies.

. Application forms will be received even after the stipulated last date. Such applications will be registered as "Late Applications" and will be considered only after all the applications received in time have been exhausted.
. All the applications duly filled in along with Registration Fee should be sent either by Registered Post or can be handed over in person at the office of University and should be enclosed with:
a. Three Passport Size photographs of the applicant.
b. Two self addressed stamped (Rs.10/-) envelope along with photocopy of:
i. Mark Sheet of the qualifying examination or equivalent.
ii. Provisional Pass Certificate / Degree Certificate of the qualifying examination.
iii. Transfer Certificate and Conduct Certificate from the Institute last studied.
iv. Community Certificate.
v. Applicants who have passed from other Universities, should get Eligibility Certificate.

c. Any other document / certificate required by this University / Commissioner of Technical Education / Govt. of Tamilnadu.

Foreign students must also submit (i) No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, New Delhi. (ii) Eligibility Certificate from the respective University. (iii) Appropriate Student Visa.
. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
. Interview Cards will be sent to those applicants who have registered and are provisionally selected. Failure to attend the interview on the specified date will result in the cancellation of the provisional selection.
. Admission for all the courses is based on merit and personal interview by the selection committee of the Institution.
. The selected candidates should report to the Directors of Schools / Heads of the Department on the specified date and time with all the original certificates.
. Candidate and his / her parent / guardian should submit a declaration in the prescribed form at the time of admission.
. The original certificates submitted at the time of admission will be returned only after the completion of the course as per current University / Government guide lines.
. Candidates are advised to take enough number of
photocopies of mark sheets and other Certificates before submitting them to the University at the time of admission.
. After admission, if any student wishes to discontinue the course, he / she shall pay the entire fee payable for the complete course of study, before being relieved from the University.
