The Civil Services - 2008 examination has been notified with 671 vacancies and half of these vacancies are expected to fall in the IAS, IPS and IRS categories This is the highest number of vacancies that have been notified in this era. There have been no changes in the scheme of examination and it continues to be a two tier examinatin comprising the Preliminary and the Main examination with the compulsory General Studies paper and the optionals. The syllabus for the most of the ubjects for the Main examination bas been revised.
