ADMISSION NOTIFICATION
School of Distance Education had been recognized by the Distance Education Council (DEC), New Delhi. The School of Distance Education (SDE) is located in the Bharathiar University campus which is about 15 kms away from the city of Coimbatore on the Maruthamalai Road. City bus routes 1, 1B, ID, 1E, S12, S13, S15, S26, 46, 70, 70A, 70B, 76, 92 stop at the University enroute to Maruthamalai. Route 1c touching the Coimbatore railway junction frequently plies upto Vadavalli, from where the above-mentioned route-buses can be boarded to reach the University. The bus-stop next to the main University stop is in-front of the SDE building (Hostel Bus Stop). The School of Distance Education functions from 9.45 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on all working days – Monday to Friday. The notice boards in the lobby, may be checked for current announcements. The reception counter may be contacted for further information. For information over the phone, SDE may be called on phone numbers:0422- 2422222 extensions 260, 262, 263, 314, 315,259 and also the Director in 0422-2425222.

Applications are issued round the year and filled in applications including downloaded softcopy accepted and enrolment is made a continuous ongoing process throughout the year.
Academic year batch : Filled applications received / spot admission done from 1st May to 30th November.
Calendar year batch : Filled in applications received / spot admission done from 1st Dec to 30th April.

Study Centres/Spot Admission Centres:
Bharathiar University has established unique and prestigious Study Centres/Spot Admission Centres to enroll students for various courses and Conduct Personal Contact Classes for both theory and practical in their premises by their experienced teachers. Personal Contact Class are arranged to cover the syllabus elaborately and to provide more and more computer oriented hands on training.
Theory Classes:
P.G. Courses - per paper - 60 hrs per year
U.G. Courses - per paper - 50 hrs per year

M.C.A. 10 Practicals - 72 hours - per practical and 1 project
M.Sc. (Computer Science) 3 Practicals - 48 hours - per practical and 1 project
M.Sc Applied Psychology 2 Practicals - 40 hours - per practical and 1 project
PGDCA 72 hours (2 practicals)
B.Sc (Computer Science) 5 practicals - 36 hours - per practical and 1 project
BCA 6 practical - 36 hours - per practical and 1 project
B.Sc. Physics 6 practical - 36 hours - per practical and 1 project
B.Sc. Visual Communication 6 practical - 36 hours - per practical and 1 project
B.Sc. Costume Design & Fashion 6 practical - 36 hours - per practical and 1 project

Attendance Requirement:
Attendance at Personal Contact Programmes (PCP) is not compulsory, however for practical classes 50% attendance is compulsory.

Admission Process:
On verification of the eligibility of the candidate for admission, the candidates will be intimated about the provisional selection. The provisional admission intimation letter shall indicate: i. The amount of fees payable by the candidate and the payment schedule. ii.The list of original documents to be submitted for verification and return.
When you receive the communication informing the provisional selection, you must send all the required documents and tuition fees. After checking the original certificates, the enrolment letter confirming the admission, will be sent to you.

Procedure for obtaining Application form and Prospectus
Spot Admission:
Spot Admission is going on at all Study Centres. Walk in with your original certificates with attested copies, fill in the application form, pay the fees in any one of the State Bank of India Branches and get admitted. Spot admission is also done at Bharathiar University.

Application by Post:
Send a Demand Draft for Rs. 75/- to the Director, School of Distance Education, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore-46 with a self-addressed envelope of size 30cmX24cm.

Application in person:
Pay Rs. 50/- (cost of the application) in any of the State Bank of India or Bank of India Challan without DD commission or a crossed Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Director, School of Distance Education, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore payable at Coimbatore and get the application form.

Application from Website:
Applications can be downloaded from the University website www.b-u.ac.in and enclose a SBI challan or Demand Draft or any Nationalized Bank for Rs.50/-bank to apply.

Filled in Application Forms have to be submitted to the Study Centres / Spot Admission Centres / City Centres / Bharathiar University or by post along with the Registration Fee Rs.100/- and xerox copies of Certificates.
