M.Phil. Course in Learning Disability (Two Semester Full-Time)
As part of the UGC grant under Innovative Programmes Teaching & Research in Interdisciplinary and Emerging Areas, the Department offers a Two Semester Full-Time M.Phil. Course in Learning Disability.
The course covers neurological, psychological, cognitive and linguistic aspects of Learning Disabilities and Remedial Teaching. In addition, students will have actual practical experience and training in working with children with LD. Successful completion of the course will enable a student to take up jobs such as Remedial Teacher, School Psychologist, Learning Specialist in government and nongovernmental establishments or to practice consultancy and remediation independently. There are also ample opportunities for taking up further research in the field.
Duration of the course: Two semesters. The first semester will have three theory papers, one field practical and one lab practical. The second semester will have placement, case studies, and dissertation.
Eligibility for Admission--
Master’s degree in Psychology/Special Education/Education/Speech & Language/ Speech & Hearing/Linguistics/Medicine/Neurology/Human-Development/Beavioral-Science/Master’s degree in any subject with B.Ed./Master’s degree in any subject with one year diploma or certificate course in Clinical Linguistics/Dyslexia/Learning Disability from recognized institutions.
Student intake: Eight (as approved by UGC under the programme).
Mode of Admission--
Marks obtained in Master’s degree as well as candidate’s performance in Admission Test will be criteria for the admission. The % weightage will be as follows:
. Percentage of Marks in Master’s Degree: 50%
. Performance in written Test: 30%
. Performance in Interview: 20%
The written test of Forty-five minutes in English will have 30 objective type questions. The questions will be related to general awareness of the field of Learning Disabilities.
