The focus of Australian Federation of University Women (AFUW) is to identify and implement practical ways of ensuring gender equity at all levels of education, with special emphasis on supporting girls and women in accessing and completing higher education. The AFUW Northern Territory Branch is delighted to be able to offer scholarships to women students in the Northern Territory and aims to encourage academic excellence in women undertaking tertiary study. The AFUW-NT branch focuses on fundraising for three annual scholarships worth $1000 each for women students in the NT – one for an undergraduate, one for an Indigenous scholar and one for postgraduate research.
Eligibility: The successful applicant will:
• be enrolled or intending to enrol full time study at either Charles Darwin University (CDU) or Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education, who have completed their first year of undergraduate study;
• give an oral presentation to AFUW (NT) one year after receipt of the scholarship;
• have demonstrated community service and involvement; and
• have an appropriate academic record.
• provide a written statement in support of the application from their Postgraduate Supervisor if applying for the Postgraduate Scholarship.
Specific Eligibility:
• One Postgraduate research scholarship is open to all women studying full time at either CDU or Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education.
• One Indigenous scholarship is open to all Indigenous women studying full time at either CDU or Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education who have completed their first year of undergraduate study.
• One Undergraduate scholarship is open to all women studying full time at either CDU or Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education who have completed their first year of undergraduate study.
