(Physics)(Candidates who have appeared for their final examinations are also eligible to apply provided they complete all their examination including practical/viva-voce on the date of interview but should produce original qualifying degree before the commencement of the session).In respect sponsored candidates, they are required to submit a sponsorship certificate from their employers stating that the candidate shall be treated on duty with his/her usual salary and allowances and that yet he/she will be pursuing his/her studies on full-time basis.OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONSAll Students admitted in to the P.G. Diploma will have to give the following undertakings:• He/She would not leave the course midway and would abide by the rules conditions of the Institute.RESERVATION OF SEATSAt present there are only 18 seats, out of which 5 seats will be reserved for the sponsored candidates. If seats are vacant in sponsored quota, the same will be filled by other general candidates. Reservation of seats for SC/ST and other candidates will be made as per rules prescribed by the Government of NCT of Delhi . Equal no. of seats will be distributed among various disciplinesADMISSION PROCEDUREApplication Form and information Brochure can be obtained from the Institute by sending application fee of Rs. 200/- by a crossed Bank Draft drawn in favour of MGIIREPD payable at Delhi along with a self-addressed envelope (27 cm X 12 cm) affixing postage stamps worth Rs. 35/-. These forms can also be had from the Institute’s Counter against Bank draft/cash payment for Rs. 200/- . The Number and Date of the bank draft should be mentioned by the candidate in the application form. AWARD OF JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS
Applications are invited for three positions of Junior Research Fellow from Candidates holding a master's degree in Meteorology/ Atmospheric Science to work on IGCAR-ISRO collaborative projects related to "Numerical Modeling Studies" in Safety Group, under "Megha-Tropiques Mission" and "PROWONAM - Mesoscale Program".
TENURE:
Project 1: Assimilation of Megha Tropiques Satellite Data in Meso-scale Meteorological and Dispersion models for Studies at South East coast of India
1 JRF, Tenure: 3 years
Project 2: Verification of Similarity relations for surface transports in Boundary Layer/ Land Surface Parameterization Schemes in MM5/WRF models and DWR data assimilation for short range forecasting for Kalpakkam emergency response system
1 JRF, Tenure: 2 years
Project 3: Atmospheric Boundary Layer Measurements with Lidar
1 JRF, Tenure: 2 years
FELLOWSHIP
The selected candidates will be initially taken as Junior Research Fellows (JRF) and will be paid a stipend of RS.12,00/- per month (consolidated). The fellowship will be provided initially for a period of two years. Continuation of the fellowship is subject to satisfactory performance and review at the end of each year. On satisfactory performance, the tenure of Fellowship will be further extended and upgraded to Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) from the third year onwards with a stipend of Rs.14000/- per month (consolidated) wherever applicable. Subsidised furnished bachelor accommodation will be provided during the tenure. Candidates recruited for JRF can register for pursing Ph.D programme.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
I. Educational Qualifications:
Discipline: Meteorology / Atmospheric Science / Physical Oceanography
Essential : First class Master’s degree in M.Sc / M.Tech from a recognized University or Institute.
Desirable: Preference will be given to the candidates having experience in
Exposure to numerical modeling, satellite data analysis and GIS
Programming skills with Fortran / C, Unix/ Linux operating systems
II. Age limit :
30 years as on 1 July, 2008 (Date of birth 1 July 1978 or later).
A relaxation of up to 5 years in age can be given in the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe, Physically Challenged applicants. A relaxation of up to 3 years in age can be given in the case of Other Backward Class applicants.
III. Nationality: Indian
