Applications are invited from highly motivated students to pursue doctoral research in the following areas: Planetary Exploration, astronomy,Astrophysics, Solar Physics, Planetary and Geosciences, space and Atmospheric in the prescribed form should be submitted online ast our website: http://www.prl.res.in. Those unable to do so may download the form and send the completed form by email or post. Those with no access to internet may obtain a printed application form by post by sending a self-addressed envelope with postal stamps of Rs.10/-affixed on it, to the address given below:

Eligibility:

M.Sc. in one of the following subjects: Physics, Space Sciences, Atmospheric sciences, chemistry(physics nuclear/analytical),Geology, Geophysics,ocean sciences. Engineering students with M.E/M.Tech (in Electronics and Communication or computer Engineering or Information Technology or Mechanical Engineering) are also eligible to pursue the Ph.D. programme in physical sciences. They must have physics and mathematics at the B.Sc.level. A minimum of 60% marks ast the Masters level is required for all candidates. Those appearing for Masters Degree examination in 2009 may also to apply. Those who applied earlier and were not selected need not apply again. Age limit: Not more than 25 years as on 31.12.2008.

Selection procedure: Written test, followed by personal interview for those who qualify in the written test. These will be held at the PRL main campus at Ahemedabad. Written test may be waived for candidates who have qualified with exceptionally good rank in any of the following I) JEST-2009 ii) GATE(IN PHYSICS)2008-09 iii) UGC-CSIR NET in 2007-08 in subject code-1, chemical sciences, or subject code-2, Earth, Atmospheric, ocean and planetary sciences, or subject code-5, physical sciences.

A Photocopy of the GATE/NET result must accompany the application, if applicable. If the NET certificate is not available a copy of the admit card and a print-out of the online results with the candidates roll number circled should be sent. Candidates who have qualified JEST2009 should mention their roll number rank and percentage.

Stipend and Facilities:

Rs.12000/- per month, raised to Rs.14000/- per month after two years, subject to satisfactory review, a book grant of Rs.5000/-per year, and accommodation at a nominal charge. Students may also be partially supported for attending conferences abroad during their tenure.

PRL invites applications from highly motivated students to pursue doctoral research in the following areas : Theoretical Physics; Space and Atmospheric Sciences; Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Solar Physics; Planetary and Geosciences; and Experimental Laser and Atomic Physics.
Applications are to be made in the prescribed form which should be submitted online at their website http://www.prl.res.in/ If you are unable to submit the form online, you may download the form and send it by email or post. In case you have no access to internet, printed application form may be obtained on request by post by enclosing a self-addressed envelope with postal stamps of Rs. 10/- affixed on it.
Eligibility: (i) M. Sc. in Physics/Space Sciences/Atmospheric Sciences, or (ii) M. Sc. in Chemistry (Physical, Nuclear or Analytical)/ Geology/Geo-physics/Oceanography/Marine Sciences. Candidates with M.Sc. in subjects covered in (ii) will only be eligible to pursue research in the field of Planetary and Geosciences. They must have Physics and Mathematics at the B.Sc. level. A photocopy of result of the GATE/NET certificate must accompany the application, if applicable. If the NET certificate is not available a copy of the admit card and a print-out of the online results with the candidate’s roll number circled should be sent. Candidates who have qualified JEST-2008 should mention their roll number, rank and percentile.
