JNCASR provides multidisciplinary research and teaching Programmes in Pure and Applied Sciences.

Ph.D is offered in the following Units

* Chemistry and Physics of Materials Unit (CPMU)
* Engineering Mechanics Unit (EMU)
* Evolutionary and Organismal Biology Unit (EOBU)
* International Centre for Materials Science (ICMS)
* Molecular Biology and Genetics Unit (MBGU)
* New Chemistry Unit (NCU) and
* Theoretical Sciences Unit (TSU).

M.S(Engg. by Research) is offered at Chemistry and Physics of Materials Unit, Engineering Mehanics Unit and Theoretical Sciences Unit.
