Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET 2010)



IIT Bombay-Shailesh J Mehta School of Management,Master of Management (M. Mgt.)

Applications are invited for Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET 2010) , It is the first step in the process of admission to the TWO YEAR FULL TIME Postgraduate Degree Programmes in Management offered by the IITs. Currently IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee offer Programmes in Management.

Eligibility criteria to apply for the programmes at the various IITs are given below. Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria listed against the Management School/Department of each Institute can appear for the JMET examination


IIT Bombay: Shailesh J Mehta School of Management

Master of Management (M. Mgt.)

Eligibility
Students with a first class Bachelor's degree in engineering (or equivalent) or first class Master's degree in Science are eligible for admission to the M.Mgt. Programme. Students should have secured min. 60% aggregate marks / min. CGPI of 6.5 out of 10 at the qualifying examination. There is a relaxation of 5% in marks or equivalent in CGPI for SC/ST candidates. Work experience is desirable but not mandatory.
Candidates appearing for the final degree examination can also apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally, provided they complete all requirements for the qualifying degree at the time of joining the course.

IIT Delhi: Department of Management Studies

Master of Business Administration (MBA) with focus on Management Systems
Master of Business Administration (MBA) with focus on Telecommunication Systems Management

Eligibility
The candidates having the following qualifications are eligible to apply for admission to the MBA programmes:
Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy/ B.Sc. Agriculture Engineering (Minimum 4 years after 10+2)
Master's degree in any branch of Physical/Chemical/Mathematical Sciences like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Application, Electronic Science
Environmental Science, Operations Research, Computational/Information Science, Agriculture or Master's Degree in Commerce/ Economics

Those appearing in the final year examination may also apply.

IIT Kanpur: Department of Industrial & Management Engineering

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Eligibility
A Bachelor’s degree in any branch of engineering or technology (AICTE approved) from a University/Institute with at least 60% of marks or grade point average of 6.0 on a scale of 10.0 in aggregate based on average over whole programme. Candidates with AMIE or similar distance learning qualification are not eligible for this programme. Candidates with Architecture degree can apply provided they have taken Mathematics at 10+2 level.
Candidates from outside India (foreign nationals and non-resident Indians) will be selected on the basis of academic background and work experience.

IIT Kharagpur: Vinod Gupta School of Management

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Eligibility
A candidate who has either secured or is likely to secure a first class Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or a first class Master’s degree in Science (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level) or a first class Master’s degree in Economics or Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level) is eligible for admission. Selection is based strictly on performance in JMET, followed by group discussion and personal interview with the Selection Board. Post qualification work experience in industrial organizations will be given due weightage. The School follows Government of India norms regarding reservation of seats for qualified Scheduled Caste/Tribe candidates and persons with disability.

IIT Madras: Department of Management Studies

Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Eligibility
Candidates with Bachelor's degree in any discipline of Engineering/Technology or its equivalent or a Master's degree in any discipline from a recognized Institute/University with att least 60% marks for General and OBC category candidates and 55% marks for SC/ST category candidates in aggregate or CGPA of 6.00 on a 10 point scale for General & OBC category candidates and 5.50 on a 10 point scale for SC/ST category candidates are eligible to apply.

How to Apply?
JMET 2010 Application Form has to be submitted ONLINE. ONLINE submission of application can be done by accessing the website of any of the IITs or IISc. There are two modes of applying based on the method of fee payment that you choose.

core banking method
. Access the JMET 2010 website and register as a user. If already registered, then sign-in at the website.
. A challan with a unique challan number is generated for every registered user. Print the generated challan which has the bank account number and the fee amounts along with bank charges pre-printed on it.
. Write you name and address. Tick the appropriate fee amount according to your category and take the challan to any SBI bank branch within India and make the payment. Ensure that the bank notes down the unique challan number and the candidate name while making the payment at the bank.
. Access the online JMET 2010 application website and fill in the application form by core banking method.
. Make sure that you have digital images of your photo and signature in .jpg format and less that 150Kb in size. Upload both the photo and the signature throught the JMET 2010 website.
PHOTO aspect = width x height :: 4 x 5 (resolution = 200dpi)
SIGNATURE aspect = width x height :: 5 x 1 (resolution = 200dpi)
Applications with photos wherein the face is difficult to identify, will be rejected.
. The unique challan number will be used for checking with the bank data. The application will be confirmed within two working days if no other documents need to be sent by post.

Demand draft method
. Obtain a Demand Draft(DD) corresponding to the application fee amount (Rs.350/- for SC/ST/PD candidates and Rs. 750/- for all other candidates) in favour of "IISc, Bangalore" payable at Bangalore.
. Access the online JMET 2010 application website and enter the requested 6 digit Demand Draft number and the 9 digit MICR number that is printed on the DD. Enter also the other relevant JMET 2010 related data.
. Make sure that you have digital images of your photo and signature in .jpg format and less that 150Kb in size. Upload both the photo and the signature throught the JMET 2010 website.

. After receipt of the application and DD by post, the application will be confirmed. This may take from 4 days to a week depending on postal delivery.

ELIGIBILITY
(a) A Bachelor's Degree of a minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the
10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other
pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education) from a recognised university, in any discipline.
OR
(b) Candidates who will complete all the requirements of their final year Bachelor's Degree examinations by Saturday, June 12, 2010 are also eligible to apply to all the programmes, except the programmes offered by the School of Health Systems Studies; and for M.A. in Education (Elementary) candidates, Saturday, May 15, 2010, provided they have successfully completed their first and second years, if the degree course is of 3 years; and the first, second and third years, if the degree course is of 4 years. In such cases, admission to any of the Master's Degree Programmes of the Institute will be provisional. If a provisionally admitted student fails in the final year examination, the offer of provisional admission automatically stands cancelled.

(c) Candidates applying for the Master of Public Health in Health Policy, Economics and Finance; and Master of Public Health in Social Epidemiology Programmes should have

(i) A Master's Degree in any discipline, or (ii) A Bachelor's Degree in medicine/para-medical courses.


(d) Candidates who are in their final year Bachelor's Degree Programme are not eligible to apply for admission to any of the Master's Degree programmes, conducted by School of Health Services Studies, i.e., Health Administration; Hospital Administration; Public Health in Social Epidemiology; and Public Health in Health Policy, Economics and Finance.

(e) Candidates applying for the Master in Habitat Policy and Practice should have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Management, Physical Sciences, Geography, Planning, Law, or Social Sciences, with some inclination towards habitat related issues/sectors.


Note: Medical graduates should complete their internship on or before Saturday, June 12, 2010. Otherwise, their candidature/ admission stands cancelled.

Instructions for Determining Eligibility to Apply
i) 'Pass Class' in the Bachelor's Degree pursued by the applicant will be taken for determining his/her eligibility.

ii) Candidates who are in the final year of their Bachelor's Degree programme, but
have not passed in all the courses (main/ major/ subsidiary, etc.) of first and
second years (if the Degree is of 3 years duration) and first, second and third
years (if the Degree is of 4 years duration) on the day of applying for the programme are not eligible to apply for any Master's Degree programme of the Institute.
iii) Candidates who have been declared as failed in the final year examination are not
eligible to apply for any of the Master's Degree Programme of the Institute, unless
they pass their Bachelor's Degree examination on the day of applying for any of the programmes.


iv) Eligibility, once determined on the basis of the information given by the candidate in the Application Form, shall be final for the purpose of test/interview/selection. However, in case it is found that the information furnished by a candidate is incorrect or misleading or ineligibility being detected before or after the test/ interview/ selection/ admission, his/her candidature will be cancelled.

iv) If a provisionally admitted student fails in the final year of his/her Bachelor's
Degree Examination and even if he/she has applied for re-evaluation at the university/ college, he/she will not be allowed to continue the programme as the offer of provisional admission stands automatically cancelled on his/her failure in the final year examination.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
How to Obtain the Application Form
The prescribed Application Form and Information Brochure can be obtained:
By sending a request letter to the Assistant Registrar (Academic) of the Institute along with a self-addressed (A4-Size) cloth-lined envelope and a Demand Draft for Rs. 750/- for each programme, drawn in favour of "Tata Institute of Social Sciences", and payable at SBI, Deonar Branch, Mumbai. If applying for more than one programme, only one draft for the requisite amount (Rs.1,500/- for any two programmes and Rs. 2,250/- for any three programmes), and self-addressed A4-Size cloth-lined envelope should accompany the request letter. The candidates should write on the envelope, in bold capital letters, "Application for Admission to the Master's Degree Programme (2010-2012)". OR

By downloading the Application Form from the TISS website (www.tiss.edu), please note that while submitting the downloaded Application Form either by post or in person to the Academic Section, it should be accompanied by a Demand Draft for the requisite amount, that is Rs. 750/-, if applying for any one programme; Rs. 1,500/-, if applying for any two programmes; and Rs. 2,250/-, if applying for any three programmes.
From the Cash Counter of TISS, against cash payment (Cash timings: Mondays to Fridays from 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. and on Saturdays, from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.).

Unemployed SC and ST candidates, whose parent's/guardian's income was more than Rs. 1 lakh (Rupees One Lakh) for the financial year 2008-09, can obtain the Application Form for (i) Rs. 700/- if applying for one programme; (ii) Rs. 1,000/- for two programmes; and (iii) Rs. 1,500/- for three programmes.

Important
1. A candidate can apply for a maximum of THREE programmes.
2. Use only ONE application form, even if applying for more than one programme.
3. If the form is downloaded from the TISS website, please mention the fee details and attach the DD for the required amount along with the completed form to consider it.
4. For speedy processing of applications, we recommend on-line filling of applications. Once you sent on-line application, print the application, attach DD and other documents and mail to TISS, Mumbai.

XLRI Jamshedpur will conduct Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT 2010) on 3rd January 2010. The XAT score is accepted by many Management Institutes in the country. A detailed list available here

Applicants desirous of joining XLRI or any other participating institutions have to appear for XAT 2010. How to Apply for XAT 2010


Procedure for XLRI Registration and obtaining XLRI Prospectus from Axis Bank

A candidate has to first register for XLRI at www.xlri.edu and then only he / she can obtain XLRI Prospectus from select branches of Axis Bank.

1. Register for XAT: Candidate desirous of taking admission to XLRI has to first register for XAT 2010 online. On successful completion of registration for XAT 2010, the candidate will get his XAT ID and password. With this the candidate can register for XLRI by opening the site www.xlri.edu and then clicking on the link "XLRI Registration Page". A page opens up where the candidate is required to furnish his/her XAT ID and password to proceed further.

2. Register for XLRI: If the XAT ID and password furnished are correct, the XLRI Registration page opens up wherein the candidate is required to fill-in the name of the nearest Axis Bank branch from where he/she intends to buy the prospectus, programme(s) he/she is opting and the requisite amount depending on the number of programme(s) opted.

3. Register for XLRI: The cost of the XLRI Prospectus 2010 depends on number of programme(s) applied for. The cost is as follows:

For General candidates
Rs 900/- for one programme or Rs 1500/- for more than one and maximum of three programme.

For SC/ST candidates
Rs 600/- for one programme or Rs 1100/- for more than one and maximum of three programmes. Candidate should take the SC/ST certificate with them to the bank.

4. Download XLRI Pay-in-slip: The candidate has to then download the XLRI Pay-in-slip. The XLRI Pay-in-slip will have the date of registration, XLRI Pay-in-slip No., name of the Axis Bank branch, name of the candidate, number of courses opted and the amount to be paid for the prospectus. The printed pay-in-slip is in three parts. You have to take all these three parts of the pay-in-slip to the Axis bank branch.
5. Go to Axis Bank Branch: The candidate has to take this downloaded XLRI Pay-in-slip to the Axis Bank branch to buy the XLRI Prospectus 2010. On tendering the requisite amount (cost of XLRI Prospectus depending on number of programs opted) along with the pay-in-slips, the bank will issue a XLRI Prospectus 2010 and enter the Prospectus Number, Bank Tran ID and put a bank seal on the pay-in-slips. The bank will retain the Bank’s copy of the pay-in-slip with them and return the rest of the pay-in-slip to the candidate.

6. Fill Detachable Form: The candidate has to fill-up the detachable form given at the end of the prospectus. All entries are to be filled-up correctly and should be same as that filled in the online form.

7. Attach Pay-in-slip: The candidate has to then attach the XLRI’s copy of the pay-in-slip in the space provided on the form. The Candidate’s copy of the pay-in-slip is to be carefully retained by the candidate for future reference, if any.

8. Send Certificate along with Form: The candidate has to then carefully detach the form from the prospectus and send it to XLRI Office, Jamshedpur along with the photo copies of 10th, 12th, graduation certificates (or latest mark sheet of papers/years completed till date) and SC/ST certificate (for SC/ST candidates only) through registered post/speed post/courier in the special envelope given inside the prospectus. This form along with pay-in-slip and photo copies of the educational certificates should reach the Admission Office, XLRI, Circuit House Area (East), Jamshedpur-831001 within seven days from date of purchase of prospectus.

9. Declaring Shortlisted Candidates: The list of the short listed candidates for XLRI GD / PI will be declared on the website www.xlri.ac.in by January 31, 2010. The names of the candidates who subsequently succeed in the selection interviews and/or group discussions for admission to XLRI will be intimated individually and also will be declared at the same website.



Procedure for obtaining XLRI Prospectus from the Admissions Office, XLRI Jamshedpur and the XLRI Registration
1. Register for XAT: A candidate interested in XLRI, has to first register for XAT. The XAT ID and password so obtained are required for applying to XLRI.

2. Cost of XLRI Prospectus: The cost of XLRI Prospectus 2010 depends on the number of programme(s) applied for. A candidate intending to apply for one programme or more than one but maximum of three programmes has to make a demand draft (DD) for an amount as given below.

For General candidates
A demand draft of Rs 950/- is to be made for one programme or for Rs 1550/- if applying for more than one but maximum of three programmes.

For SC/ST candidates
A demand draft of Rs 650/- is to be made for one programme or for Rs 1150/- if applying for more than one but maximum of three programmes.

3. Issue of Demand Draft (DD): The DD has to be drawn in favour of "XLRI Jamshedpur A/c Prospectus", payable at Jamshedpur

4. Register for XLRI: The candidate has to then log on to the website www.xlri.edu and open XLRI Registration. Here he/she has to fill in the XLRI form and opt for the programmes(s) he/she intends to apply for. The candidate has to provide the payment particulars of the demand draft number, amount, date and submit the form online. The candidate has to mention their XAT ID and name on the reverse of the draft.

5. Download XLRI PA Form: Once the candidate provides the demand draft details he/she can proceed to take printout of XLRI Payment Advise Form (XLRI PA Form).

6. Send the DD and Form: The candidate has to enclose the demand draft along with the duly completed XLRI PA Form and photo copies of 10th, 12th and graduation certificates (or latest mark sheet of papers/years completed till date) and SC/ST certificate (for SC/ST candidates only) through registered post/speed post/courier in the special envelope given inside the prospectus. XLRI PA Form along with DD and photo copies of the educational certificate should reach the Admissions Office, XLRI, Circuit House Area (East), Jamshedpur-831001 within seven days from date of purchase of prospectus. Candidates are advised to keep a photo copy of the DD and all the forms
that they send to XLRI for future reference. .

7. Mailing of XLRI Prospectus to candidates: XLRI Prospectus will be sent to the candidates after receiving the request complete in all respects. Candidates are not required to send the detachable form given inside the prospectus.

8. Declaring Shortlisted Candidates: The list of the short listed candidates for XLRI GD / PI will be declared on the websitewww.xlri.ac.in by January 31, 2010. The names of the candidates who subsequently succeed in the selection interviews and/or group discussions for admission to XLRI will be intimated individually and also will be declared on www.xlri.ac.in .

The Indian Institutes of Management will conduct Common Admission Test (CAT) during Saturday, 28 November 2009 - Monday, 7 December 2009. CAT is conducted by IIMs as a pre-requisite for admission to various management programmes of IIMs.These programmes are:

A. Post Graduate Programmes in Management
• IIM Ahmedabad PGP, PGP-ABM and PGP-PMP
• IIM Bangalore PGP, PGSEM and PGPPM
• IIM Calcutta PGP-PGDM and PGP-PGDCM
• IIM Indore PGP and EPGP
• IIM Kozhikode PGP
• IIM Lucknow PGP and PGP-ABM
• RGIIM Shillong PGP

B. Fellow Programmes in Management (FPM)

Each IIM follows its own admission process independent of other IIMs. Before a prospective candidate makes a decision to appear for CAT, he/she must visit the websites and/or read programme advertisements of the concerned IIMs to ensure which programmes they want to apply for and what are the eligibility requirements and admission processes. List of non-IIM member institutions that have registered to avail the CAT 2009 scores is provided at www.catiim.in. CAT score use is restricted only for admission to IIMs and non-IIM member institutions. A candidate can appear for CAT 2009 only once during the 10-day testing window.

CAT ELIGIBILITY
The candidate must hold a Bachelor's Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) / Persons with Disability (PWD) categories], awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor's degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree. In case the candidates are awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of grades/CGPA to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the university/ institution from where they have obtained the bachelor's degree. In case the university/ institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate's CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100. Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. SALE OF CAT 2009 VOUCHERS:
The CAT 2009 Vouchers can be obtained from branches of Axis Bank and their associated outlets during the period from Wednesday, 9 September 2009 to Thursday, 1 October 2009 for Rs. 1400/- (Rs. 700/- for SC/ST candidates). Please note that a candidate needs to buy only one CAT 2009 Voucher irrespective of the number of institutes he/she is applying to. Note that the Voucher must be bought only in the name of the candidate as it appears in the school leaving certificate. If the name has been changed due to events such as marriage, the candidate must show the relevant document such as a marriage certificate and submit a photocopy at the time of the test, interview and at the time of joining a programme. SC and ST candidates must show a copy of their SC/ST Certificates at the time of obtaining the CAT 2009 Voucher from the Axis Bank branches. Voucher once sold cannot be refunded under any circumstance including but not limited to loss of voucher, inability to read voucher number due to mishandling of the voucher by candidate, candidate being ineligible for taking CAT, CAT not being a pre-requisite for a programme, and rejection of candidate registration due to incomplete and/or wrong information. If the voucher is lost, voucher number is not readable due to mishandling of the voucher by candidate, and/or candidate thinks he/she has made mistake(s) in filling-out information during the online registration, then the candidate can purchase a new voucher and re-register online.

REGISTRATION FOR CAT:
On purchasing the CAT 2009 Voucher, prospective candidates must log on to the website www.catiim.in to register for CAT 2009. The registration window starts on Wednesday, 9 September 2009 and will close on Thursday, 1 October 2009. Details of the registration process are provided at the website www.catiim.in.

TEST CENTRES:
The test will be conducted in venues across many centres. These centres are Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Durgapur, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Noida, Patna, Pune, Ranchi, Siliguri, and Varanasi. IIMs reserve the right to change or cancel any test venue/centre and/or change the test window time and dates at their own discretion.

CAT SCORE:
A candidate's CAT score card will be available to the candidate at the website www.catiim.in from 22 January 2010. Candidates must retain a print-out of their score card.

DISCLAIMER
Instances of incorrect information and process violation detected at any stage of the selection process will lead to disqualification of the candidate from the selection process and he/she will not be allowed to appear for CAT in future. If such instances go undetected during the current selection process but are detected in subsequent years, such disqualification will take place with retrospective effect
