Request for application should have a chalan receipt for Rs. 100/- as fee for application. This should be remitted to Kannur University Fund in Treasury (No. 8658-00-102-96 (27) KUS) or Pay in slip of SBT.For remittance outside the state to the University fund ,DDs should be drawn in favour of Finance Officer , Kannur University payable at SBT, Kannur University Campus Branch. DDs drawn from banks other than SBT should be payable at Kannur. If application is required by post a self addressed envelope (23x12 cm. size) affixed with postal stamp for Rs. 10/- should also be enclosed. The fee for entrance test is Rs. 250/- . Candidates who download the application form from the University website may remit the application fee as well as the fee for entrance test and forward the chalan receipt with the filled in applications. Fee for application for NRI/payment seat is Rs. 1,000/-. Students who are awaiting results can also apply for the courses for which admission is made through entrance test, but they shall produce their qualifying certificates at the time of interview. Others may submit their applications within 10 days from the date of publication of the results of the qualifying degree exams by this University. Applications along with all necessary documents should reach the Departments concerned on or before 31st May 2008.

SC/ST/OBC/OEC candidates are eligible for relaxation from the prescribed minimum marks as per rules. OBC/SEBC candidates are also eligible for reservation as per the Supreme Court directive. ASSOCIATESHIP IN INFORMATION SCIENCE (AIS) COURSE

NISCAIR conducts a two-year course, Associateship in Information Science (AIS) which is equivalent to Master's degree in Library & Information Science and is recognized by Government of India and many Universities.

Applications are invited for admission to the AIS 2008-2010 batch of the course commencing on September 01, 2008.

Eligibility: Applicant should have minimum of 50% aggregate marks in :
(i) Master’s degree; or
(ii) Four-year plus degree like B.E./M.B.B.S.; or
(iii) Bachelor’s degree plus B.Lib.Sc. plus one year of relevant experience after B.Lib.Sc.
(iv) Students who have appeared in the final year examination of (i) and (ii) above are also eligible for applying for admission to the Course. However, their cases will be considered only in the event of their final results being declared before the final selection and their obtaining a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.

Selection: A total of twenty-five candidates would be selected based on Admission Test (June 19, 2008) and Interview (Last week of July, 2008).

The Admission Test will be of two-hour duration and is intended to test the candidates’ skills in English language, general knowledge, basic mathematics and logic to ascertain their aptitude towards information science.

Candidates found successful in the admission test will be called for final selection only at New Delhi. Shortlisted outstation candidates appearing for interview will be paid 2nd class sleeper return rail fare or equivalent as per the shortest route.


Scholarships: Provision for scholarship to non-sponsored meritorious students @ Rs. 2000/- per month for a period of 9 months exists.
