Delhi University medical Dental Entrance Test (DUMET) – 2008 for MBBS / BDS Courses will be held on 18th May, 2008 (Sunday).

The Delhi University Medical-Dental Entrance Test (DUMET-2007) for admission to Under-Graduate courses, i.e. MBBS and BDS will be held on Sunday, 18th May 2008 at Delhi . Interested candidates may apply on the prescribed application form.

The application form along with Bulletin of Information (BOI) is obtainable from the office of the Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Medical Sciences, 6th Floor, V. P. Chest Institute Building , University of Delhi , Delhi-110007, against a Bank Draft/ Banker’s Cheque drawn on any Nationalised Bank in favour of ‘Registrar, University of Delhi ’ payable at Delhi , in the following manner:

(i) By hand for Rs. 550.00 (Rupees Five Hundred Fifty only) between 09:30 A.M. to 01:00 P.M. on all working days from 27th February 2008 to 3rd April, 2008
(ii) By Post for Rs. 600.00 (Rupees Six hundred only) along with a self addressed envelope of 10” x 8” upto 17th March 2008.
(iii) BOI is not available agist "Cash Payment"

The application form along with BOI can also be obtained, by hand only, from Lady Hardinge Medical College, Maulana Azad Medical College and University College of Medical Sciences.

Educational Qualification for admission to MBBS/BDS course: The candidates must have passed 12th class examination under 10+2 system with required subjects, i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English from a recognised school conducting regular classes and situated within the National Capital Territory of Delhi . The candidates must have passed in the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks (40% marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST category) taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The candidates must have studied 11 th and 12 th classes regularly from a recognised school situated within the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

Female candidates belonging to Schedule Caste (SC)/Schedule Tribe (ST)/Children, Widows & Wives of Armed & Para Military Personnel (CWWAPP) category who have passed qualifying examination from Indian Boards/Universities or Foreign Boards/Universities may also apply for admission to Lady Hardinge Medical College . The condition of studying 11 th and 12 th class from a school situated with the National Capital Territory of Delhi shall not be applicable to these candidates.
Note:
(i) The Physically Handicapped candidates having disability of lower limbs from 50% to 70% are eligible and may apply as per the guidelines of the Medical Council of India.
(ii) In the event of all the seats reserved for PH category not being filled up from among the Physically Handicapped candidates with above stipulated physical disability then the seats will be offered to the candidates with the physically diability of 40% to 50%.

Applications duly filled in and complete in all respect, should reach to the Assistant Registrar, Faculty of Medical Sciences, 6 th Floor, V. P. Chest Institute Building, University of Delhi , Delhi- 110007 on or before 03rd April, 2008 upto 03.00 P.M.

1. The last date for receipt of request for supply of the application form along with BOI by POST is 17th March, 2008.
2. The candidate should mention his/ her name and address at the back of the Bank Draft/ Banker’s Cheque. The candidates are advised to retain a photocopy of the Bank Draft/ Banker’s Cheque.

THE INSTITUTE
The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) is one of the seven higher Institutes of Technology in the country set up with the objectives of making available facilities for higher education, research and training in various fields of Science and Technology. IIT Bombay established in 1958. The Institute is located at Powai in a campus extending over 220 hectares amidst picturesque surroundings with Vihar and Powai lakes on either side. At present, Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral programmes are offered in Aerospace, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science and Engineering offers regular M.Tech., PGDIIT (only IT) and Ph.D. programmes, Earth Sciences, Electrical, Mechanical and Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science Departments as well as by certain Interdisciplinary groups i.e. Corrosion Science & Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering & Operations Research,Reliability Engineering and Systems & Control Engineering. The Shailesh J. Mehta, School of Management offers a 2 years Master Management programme and also a Doctoral programme. The School of Management also conducts a wide range of courses for the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes. The School of Biosciences and Bioengineering offers M.Sc. (Biotechnology), M.Tech (Biomedical Engineering) and Ph.D. programme
The DIIT Programme (Post Graduate Diploma of IIT) contains courses that are a subset of the M.Tech. Programme with a provision for a mini project. The duration of the DIIT program is of one year. Now, this programme is also offered through Distance Education mode.
The Institute on an average admits 650 candidates for the Undergraduate programmes and 1050 candidates for different Ph.D / Postgraduate programmes every year. Students from Bangladesh, Egypt, Ethiopia, Fiji, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Mauritius, Malaysia, Nepal, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Yemen are also undergoing training in various programmes. Apart from these students from developed countries such as France, Germany and USA are also coming to IIT Bombay for doing some courses / projects. In addition to these academic programmes, the Continuing Education Programme (CEP Cell) organizes short, intensive courses in specialized topics both for practicing engineers as well as for teachers from engineering colleges; and also conducts seminar and conferences on current scientific and technological developments. Further, under Quality Improvement programme (QIP), teachers from various engineering colleges also join Institute for the postgraduate and doctoral programmes.

M.Sc. EPIDEMIOLOGY
This course is aimed at health professionals interested in clinical or population based research and in the practice of community health. This course will also benefit teachers in various health related disciplines. Epidemiology is basically a quantitative science and will involve a fair amount of exposure to Biostatistics and use of computers. The M.Sc. programme will also equip the candidate with basic skills in health management, demography, relevant areas of behavioral sciences and health economics. Master of Science in Epidemiology is a Two (2) year programme.
The Faculty who train candidates for the M.Sc. Epidemiology course are drawn from many disciplines such as General Medicine, Community Health, Biostatistics, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Cardiology and Microbiology. Many of these faculties have had formal training in Epidemiology and allied fields, both in India and overseas in USA, UK, Canada and Australia.

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR ADMISSION M.Sc. EPIDEMIOLOGY

Duration : 2 (Two) years – Full time Course
Timings : 9.45 A.M. – 5.45 P.M.

Educational Qualifications:
Candidates for admission to the 1st year of the Post Graduate Degree in Master of Science in Epidemiology Course should have passed any one of the following examinations recognised by the Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R.Medical University or any other University recognized as equivalent thereto.
• MBBS • BDS • B.A.M.S. • B.U.M.S. • B.H.M.S. • B.S.M.S. • B.V.Sc. • M.P.T. • M.O.T. • M.Pharmacy • M.Sc (Nursing) • M.Sc.Biostatistics/ Statistics • M.Sc. Nutrition • M.Sc., Biochemistry / Anatomy/Physiology/Pharmacology/Microbiology and other Medical related M.Scs.

All Candidates from India and abroad who have U.G. and P.G. Degrees recognized from other Universities other than The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University must obtain ‘Eligibility Certificate’ from the University and submit it at the time of applying for admission to the course.

ELIGIBILITY CERTIFICATE
The application form and other details to apply for the eligibility certificate can be obtained from the Registrar, The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R.Medical University, Chennai or downloaded from the website www.tnmmu.ac.in . The details for obtaining the Eligibility Certificate are available in the said University Web Site. Candidates are advised to obtain the Eligibility Certificates well in advance before submitting their application.

Those who do not submit Eligibility Certificates along with the filled in Application will not be entertained. Without the “No objection certificate” and “Certificate for HIV/AIDS Test”, the non-Indian nationals although provisionally selected, will not be registered in the course until such certificates are obtained from the Government of India.

Candidates presently employed in Government or private institutions and seeking admission, should obtain a NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE from the employer stating that permission has been granted and the candidate will be relieved for registration for admission to M.Sc. Epidemiology course in The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University.

OBTAINING OF PROSPECTUS, APPLICATION FORM ETC.,
1. The Application Form and the Prospectus and a set of enclosures can be downloaded from the Web Site www.tnmmu.ac.in of The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University from 18.2.2008 to 06.03.2008. The duly filled in application completed in all respects will be registered in this University and processed on payment of Rs.750/- (Rupees seven hundred and fifty only) by a bank demand draft drawn on any nationalised bank in favor of The Registrar, The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University, payable at the Indian Overseas Bank, The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University Branch, Chennai – 600 032 towards non-refundable Application Processing Fee.

All candidates whose applications are in order and in complete shape will be permitted for a written entrance examination and a personal interview for which the details of eligible list etc., will be published in the University Web Site at 5.00 P.M. on 11.03.2008 and it is the responsibility of the candidates to see the details. Further the date of issue of Identification cum Attendance Card and Admit Card in this University Premises will also be notified on 11.3.2008.

General Instructions

Selection Policy
Selection will be based on written entrance examination and an interview to be conducted to all the eligible candidates. The candidate’s understanding of basic human biology and disease process and capacity to comprehend quantitative information, past academic performance, past experience and confidential reports from referees will be taken into consideration. The final selection will be made after interview. Successful candidates will be provisionally selected for admission to the two years M.Sc. Epidemiology Degree course.

The decision of the Selection Committee is final.

At the time of interview, the following certificates should be made available in original for verification.
1. Mark / Grade sheets of the Qualifying Examination. 2. Provisional pass certificate of the Qualifying Examination. 3. Degree Certificate. 4. Transfer Certificate from the head of the institution last studied (if available). 5. Migration Certificate, 6. Eligibility Certificate obtained from this university. 7. Candidates selected should produce a certificate for Physical fitness by an authorized Medical Officer at the time of admission. IIT Bombay Research Fellowship Scheme 2008 and IIT Bombay Summer Internship Scheme: INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, BOMBAY
IIT Bombay Research Fellowship Scheme 2008

IIT Bombay Research Fellowship Scheme aim to attract professionals and students of proven academic calibre towards research activities at IIT Bombay. The awardees are expected to work on research projects and could be considered for admission into post-graduate degree / PhD programs subject to fulfilling normal IIT-Bombay admission requirements. You may apply for either the Research Fellowship or the Summer Internship.

IIT BOMBAY RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP SCHEME
The awardees will be selected based on their academic record and an interview followed by Preliminary screening at department level. They will be expected to work on research projects for a minimum period of one year in different Departments/ Schools/Centre/Inter-Disciplinary Programs based on their academic background and research interests.
The Research Fellowship scheme is open to B.Tech./B.E./M.A./M.Com/M.Sc./M.E./M.Tech/ MBA Between Rs.8,000-10,000 p.m. (for awardees with B.Tech./B.E./M.Sc. or equivalent qualification). Degree holders with experience may be considered for a higher fellowship amount.
The awardees with B. Tech./B.E. or M.Sc. qualification will be awarded a stipend of Rs. 8,000 - 10,000/- p.m.. Degree holders with experience may be considered for a higher amount.
Other benefits include funding for participation in national/international conferences, library facilities, hostel accommodation, and working with proven international Collaborators research collaborators (where applicable)

IIT Bombay Summer Internship Scheme
The awardees (who have not completed their degrees) will have an opportunity to work on research projects under the mentorship of faculty members/scientists during their summer vacation. On the completion of their degrees, they could be considered for research Fellowship subject to performance during Summer Internship. The Summer Internship scheme is open to pre-final year B.Tech./ B.E./ M.A./ M.Com/ M.Sc./ M.E./ M.Tech./ MBA/ MBBS or equivalent degree students.
The summer internship scheme is only for pre-final year students. Final year students appearing for their final exam shall apply for Research Fellowship.
Rs. 3000/-p.m. for summer internship (For a maximum of two months).

Selection Procedure
The selection procedure consists of preliminary screening of applications, followed by personal interviews to be held in a decentralized manner at the department level.
Selection criteria will include consistently brilliant academic performance (relative rank in the class/University), work carried out by the student besides his regular academic work, participation/recognition in competitions such as Techfest, Olympiads, National Talent Search Exams, and performance in the interview.
Train fare (IInd/Sleeper Class) will be given to outstation candidates , shortlisted for interview.

List of shortlisted candidates: 3rd week of April 2007
Tentative dates of interview: 4th week of April 2007
