The Entrance Tests for admission to First Year of LL.B. (Three Year Course) and LL.M. for the year 2008-09 will be held in Delhi.

LL.B.: Date of Entrance Test: Sunday, 15th June 2008

Eligibility:
Graduate/Post-Graduate Degree with 50% marks for General candidates; Relaxation of upto 5% marks for Physically Handicapped (PH); 45% marks for widows/wards of ex-servicemen/serving personnel (CW) category; and degree with pass marks for SC/ST candidates

LL.M.: Date of Entrance Test: Sunday, 22nd June 2008

Eligibility:
LL.B. Degree (3 year/5 year course) with 50% marks for General candidates; Relaxation of upto 5% marks for PH; and 45% marks for SC/ST/CW candidates

Note:
1. Candidates awaiting results of the qualifying degree examination are eligible to appear in the Entrance Test but admission will depend on minimum eligibility prescribed above.
2. The reservation of seats is made as per the University rules.
3. Bulletin of Information with application form may be obtained from the office of the Admission Committee, Faculty of Law from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. from 21.04.2008 on cash payment of Rs. 200/- or by post by sending latest by 19.05.2008 to the Admission Committee a bank draft of Rs. 250/- favouring “Registrar, University of Delhi, Delhi-110007” payable at Delhi/New Delhi. The application form can also be downloaded from www.du.ac.in after 21st April, 2008 and should be deposited alongwith an additional bank draft of Rs. 200/-.
4. Award of doctoral fellowships 2008-2009
The Indian Council of Social Science Research, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, invites applications for centrally administered doctoral fellowships for the year 2008-2009 in the prescribed format as given below:
A. Centrally Administered Doctoral Fellowships
(1) Open category 40 seats
The broad disciplines recognized for such support are: Economics, Commerce, Education, Management, Business Administration, Psychology, Political Science, International Relations, Public Administration, Sociology, Social Work, Criminology and Social Science aspects of Anthropology, Demography, Geography, Law and Linguistics. The priority areas for consideration are: (Health, Education, Environment and Sustainable Development, Information/Communication Technology, Library Science, Gender Studies, Centre-State Relations and National Security).

Centrally administered Doctoral Fellowships are awarded by the ICSSR on the basis of selection through an interview to be held at the office of the ICSSR, New Delhi.

Eligibility:
1. Postgraduate in Social Sciences with at least 55% marks
2. The candidate should have cleared National Eligibility Test
(NET for JRF/Lecturership)/ M.Phil/or two research articles published in reputed social sciences journals (reprints to be attached)

3. The applicant must be registered for Ph.D. Those who are not registered need not apply.

Age:
The upper age limit for a doctoral fellow is below 35 years as on 30 May 2008 (relaxable by 5 years in case of SC/ST). For teachers and professional staff of research institute holding regular posts the upper age limit would be 45 years. In exceptional cases, where a candidate is found to have outstanding ability, the age limit may be relaxed marginally at the discretion of ICSSR.

Value:
The selected candidates will be paid a fellowship amount of Rs.6,000/- per month for two years extendable by one year in exceptional cases only, plus Rs.12,000/- per annum as contingency grant. A proposal to revise the rates of fellowship is pending with the Government of India.

In case of an employed scholar his/her salary will be protected. In addition, a contingency grant of Rs.12,000/- per annum will also be paid. Duration of a salary-protected fellowship will, in no case, be more than two years.

Only short listed candidates will be called for interview. Applicants not in receipt of call letters, need not correspond unnecessarily.

Eligibility:

The fellowships are open to persons preferably below the age of 35 years and who have qualified NET examination of UGC /M.Phil / or have published two research articles in reputed journals in social sciences (reprints to be attached). The scholars would be allowed to get registered for Ph.D within six months of award of fellowship. One year’s time for registration shall be given to the scholars at the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore and the Centre for Development Studies, Thiruvananthapuram in view of pre-Ph.D foundation course being conducted by them. In case of non-clearance of foundation course/non-registration of candidate his/her fellowship may be discontinued.

Eligibility for Admission
MTech:
Computer Science & Engineering(CSE): B Tech/ BE in any engineering discipline OR M Sc in Mathematics, Statistics or a similar discipline OR MCA with (a) minimum marks/CPI in Qualifying Degree and (b) valid GATE score in Computer Science and Engineering/Information Technology/Mathematics/Engineering Sciences (compulsorily with Sections Computational Science and Electrical Science).

Minimum marks/CPI in Qualifying Degree: 55% marks / 5.5 CPI (on a 10-point scale) as long as it is at least seven percent higher than the minimum pass marks /CPI for General Category applicants and minimum passing marks for SC/ST applicants. GATE /CEED score requirement is waived for sponsored candidates.

PhD:
Computer Science & Engineering(CSE): M Tech/ ME in Computer Science & Engineering or Information Technology or a similar discipline with minimum marks/ CPI in Qualifying Degree.

Eligibility:
Intermediate (Science) form a recognized institute/ board. Graduate in Science will be additional qualification.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D)


An All India Competitive Entrance Examination will be conducted for admission to Ph.D. programme in different disciplines as per details given below.

Date of Entrance Test : 20.6.2008

Examination Centres :
NDRI, Karnal (Haryana)
SRS of NDRI, Bangalore (Karnataka)
ERS of NDRI, Kalyani (West Bengal)

Disciplines: Dairy Microbiology, Dairy Chemistry, Dairy Technology, Dairy Engineering, Animal Biochemistry, Animal Biotechnology, Animal Genetics & Breeding, Animal Nutrition, Animal Physiology, Livestock Production & Management, Dairy Economics and Dairy Extension.

Eligibility : Master’s degree in relevant area with 60 percent marks (55 per cent marks for SC/ST and 50% for Kashmiri Migrants) or equivalent OGPA.

Reservation of seats: There would be reservation of seats for admissions in all the programmes to the extent of 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 5% for Kashmiri Migrants and 3% for PH candidates as defined in the Information Bulletin.

Scheme of Examination: There will be only one question paper consisting of objective type questions and short answers related to each subject. Admission will be made on merit basis. The candidates may choose a discipline according to their eligibility and choice of the campus.

Ph.D. and Master’s Degree in Dairying

(For in-service candidates)

IIn-service candidates from State Agricultural Universities, ICAR institutions and other government institutes/departments will be considered for Ph.D and Master’s degree programmes only if they are fully sponsored by their employer.

Disciplines: Same as for Ph.D. programme (Open stream)

Eligibility: In-service candidates in permanent employment with Central/State Government and Universities, having three years regular service in the relevant field and requisite qualification (Master’s degree for Ph.D. in Dairying and Bachelor’s degree for Master in Dairying) in the relevant area with 60 percent marks (55 per cent marks for SC/ST and 50% for Kashmiri Migrants) or equivalent OGPA.

Mode of Selection: There will be no written examination. Candidates will be selected on the basis of Interview and academic scores as given in the Information Bulletin.
