3. How To Apply: One form is enough to apply for all UG courses from 1 to 7 at School of Medical Education. The Forms of the previous years are not valid.
One form is needed in order to apply to one or more courses of School of Technology and Applied Sciences of one Centre (17,18). Separate application forms are necessary for al other courses. The applicant has to remit Rs.300/- (for SC/ST candidates Rs.150/-) as registration fee which enables him/her to apply for a maximum of three courses in a school.

4. Selection: To all courses selection is based on pure merit. All admission shall be based on merit either solely based on the marks of the qualifying examination, or taking into account the score obtained in the entrance test or both. The University will conduct an entrance test for courses from 19 to 22 and from 28 to 32 (except 30). NRI approved by Mahatma Gandhi University shall be reckoned as eligible qualification. Percentage of marks given is the minimum marks required for Part III Optional Subjects, if not otherwise mentioned, Those who are awaiting the results of the qualifying examination can also apply. Reservation, Concession based on income and community will be allowed according to the rules of the University/ Government.

The Executive Management Education Programme (eMEP 08)

The Executive Management Education Programme (eMEP), the first of its kind to be offered in the Asia Pacific region, is designed exclusively for working professionals. As an individual grows in an organisation, each higher step on his career ladder requires him to have qualifications and skills that commensurate to the role he is assigned. The programme attempts to fulfill the demands of the Indian corporates for continued training and development of its executive workforce by offering a wide spectrum of courses encompassing all functional areas of Management.

Programme Title
Participants of the eMEP, on successful completion of the one year long programme, would be awarded the title 'Post Graduate Certificate in Management' by IIMK.

Eligibility and Participants
The entry to the executive Management Education Programme is restricted to graduates/ CA/ ICWA having atleast 5 years of work experience. The participants of these programmes form an interesting mix of working professionals ranging from Executive Vice President to Executives from varied backgrounds like IT, Human Resources, Marketing, Banking, Financial Services and Manufacturing. The level of interaction witnessed during the past eMEP batches has been quite exceptional and encouraging, thereby indicating the effectiveness of this technology to enhance peer-to-peer learning, considered to be the core feature of any conventional classroom based learning programme. This has enabled them to advance in their careers by way of promotions and better jobs in areas of their interest.

Selection
For eMEP, the selection is based on executive Management Aptitude Test (eMAT) conducted by IIMK every year and the interviews, through IOL platform, of the short-listed candidates based on the eMAT.


Programme Objectives
The programme is designed to impart general management skills to working professionals so as to enhance effectiveness of their decisions. The key objectives of the programme are:
1. To provide formal management education to working executives to prepare them for senior managerial positions in the organisations.
2. To equip the participants with the management concepts, tools and techniques to help take more effective managerial decisions
3. To build upon participants' existing knowledge and help develop managerial perspective.

Programme Structure and Curriculum
Spread over a year, it covers 27 courses, structured in two terms. Fourteen courses are offered in the first term and the remaining 13 courses are offered in the second term. They are meant to impart management knowledge and skills to the participants covering the latest concepts and techniques in various functional areas of business and management. Faculty from IIMK and distinguished visiting faculty from reputed academic institutions and industry handle these courses.

The Programme is delivered in two key components:
375 hours of classroom learning through Interactive Onsite Learning mode
75 hours of classroom learning through In-campus Modules

About the course
The Department of Medical Genetics has been organizing short courses in Genetics for clinicians. This course provides an introduction to genetics and aims at training pediatricians, obstetricians and other clinicians in some aspects of clinical genetics. In this two week course, principles of basic genetics, cytogenetics, molecular genetics, genetic counseling and prenatal diagnosis will be covered. Along with lectures, demonstrations (lab and clinical) and interactive sessions will be held to clarify the principles of medical genetics. The course is aimed at training clinicians in counseling for common genetic problems and to identify clinical situations requiring genetic evaluations. It will also cover the indications and interpretation of various genetic tests. It will provide the participants an opportunity to enter the fascinating new world of molecular genetics, which is becoming an important part of all branches of medicine in the 21st century.

Eligibility
The course is for medical specialists only. Doctors with postgraduate degree (MD, MS), and postgraduate students in any clinical specialty are eligible.

ADMISSION TO PH.D. DEGREE PROGRAMME FOR NON- STIPENDIARY CANDIDATES

NOTIFICATION

Applications are invited for admission to PhD Degree from Non-stipendiary candidates for Full- time/ part time programme in the departments of the university, colleges affiliated to this university and recognized research institutions or July 2008 session.

To facilitate a time bound approach admissions to Ph.D program. Admission could be made four times in a year in January . April, July and October of every calendar year. Candidates should submit their applications on the 1st working day of a quarter viz, January, April, July and October.

The teachers from university departments/ affiliated colleges are also informed that they should apply for admission to Ph.D. programme in the above sessions.

Candidates with fellowships from funding agencies like UGC, CSIR, GATE etc. and project fellows could register at any time of the year.

Candidates belonging to SC/ST are exempted from payment of application cost, as well as registration fees subject to the production of attested Xerox Copy of Community certificate issued by the competent authority.

ELIGIBILITY:
A candidate should have obtained a Master’s Degree with not less than Second Class or equivalent Grade. In the case of examinations, where classification does not exist, a minimum of 50% marks is needed in the qualifying examination.

A Candidates should pass an Entrance Examination (Written and Oral) administered by duly constituted committee of the Department in the University or of an affiliated college were the candidates proposes to under go Ph.D. Programme.

PART-TIME:
(a) A teacher working in the Department of the University or of an affiliated colleges of the University or Higher Secondary School or High School or Polytechnic within the territorial jurisdiction and with a qualifying degree fulfilling the above eligibility can apply.

(b) A candidates employed other than as a teacher in a permanent job, within the territorial jurisdiction of this University with a minimum of four years of total working experience put in with the qualifying degree and satisfying the rules framed separately by the Syndicate form time to time with the above eligibility can apply.

Application forms (both permission and Registration) can be had from the University Enquiry Office on payment of Rs.260/- by way of an Account Payee Demand Draft from any Nationalized Bank drawn in favour of the “The Registrar, University of Madras, Chennai – 600005” along with requisition letter, Postal Order and Money Order will not be accepted. Self addressed stamped envelope for Rs.25/- should accompany the requisition for application form through post.

Filled in application (Application Form for admission to Ph.D. Programme only) along with attested Xerox copies of all the certificates should be sent directly to the Head of the Department of the University/ Principal of the College/ Director of Research Institution concerned and not to the Registrar, University of Madras.

The date of issue of application is 1st June to 30th June 2008 for July Session. 1st September 2008 to 30th September 2008 for October 2008 Session; 1st December 2008 to 31st December 2008 for January 2009 session and 1st March 2009 to 31st March 2009 for April 2009 Session.

The last date for receipt of filled-in applications is 1st July 2008 for July Session, 1st October 2008 for October session, 1st January 2009 for January Session, 1st April for April Session.

The University reserves the right not to conduct any of the above courses, if the circumstances so warrant.

UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT

MBA (Full Time):
Pass in any degree and should have appeared for an Entrance Test Conducted by TANCET, CAT, JMET, ATMA, XAT

MBA (Part time):
A pass in any degree with atleast two years of working experience and presently working.

MCA:
A pass in any degree with Mathematics at +2 level or any degree with atleast one paper in Mathematics/ Statistics at Degree Level. Should have appeared for TANCET

Candidates studies under 10+2+3 pattern are eligible for admission to both the programmes.

HOW TO APPLY:
Separate application form and prospectus for MBA & MCA Programmes can be obtained either in person/ downloaded from the website: www.b-u.ac.in or by post from 19-05-2008 on payment of Rs.500/- for each course (Rs.250/- in the case of SC/ST candidates on production of attested photocopy of community certificate) through a demand draft dated not earlier than 01.05.2008 drawn in favour of the Registrar, Bharathiar University, payable at Coimbatore.

Note: Candidates should submit their filled-in applications along with TANCET/ OTHER ENTRANCE TEST marks within 15 days from the date of publication of TANCET results. Any Application received after that will not be accepted.
