National Institute of Immunology (NII) is an autonomous institution Under Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. National Institute of Immunology (NII) invites applications for Admission to Ph. D programme for the Academic Year 2009-2010. NII is committed to advanced research in:
1) Genetics & Cell Signaling
2) Immunity & Infection
3) Molecular & Cellular Biology
4) Reproduction & Development and
5) Structural & Computational Biology.


Minimum Qualifications required are:
M.Sc. or equivalent in any branch of Science or M. Tech or MBBS or M.V. Sc or M. Pharm or equivalent qualification recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, along with first division (60% aggregate) or an equivalent grade in all major examinations from Senior Secondary Secondary Certificate (10+2) onwards.


The Institute invites applications from candidates who have completed or are likely to complete the required courses this year. Reservations are as per statutory norms.

The selection will be made on the basis of written qualifying test test on February 15, 2009 at any of the following 4 Centres; Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata and Pune.

Interviews will be held for the written test qualified candidates at National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi from June 4-7, 2009.

The selected candidates will be enrolled for Ph.D. program affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

The Integrated PhD Programme (IPhD) will admit bright, highly motivated students with Bachelor's degree in Science/Engineering, selected on an all-India basis. Selected candidates will be offered a fellowship of Rs.10,000/- p.m., an annual book grant, accommodation, and medical facilities.

The Degree will be awarded by the University of Calcutta. The duration of M.Tech course work will be of 2 years divided into 4 semesters. After successful completion of the M. Tech course a student can opt for registration for Ph.D (Tech) programme at Calcutta University, subjected to a selection procedure and minimum cut-off grade.
