Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-2009)

HOTEL MANAGEMENT

The National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) has invited applications for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-2009) to be held on May 9 for admissions to the three-year B.Sc hospitality and hotel administration course conducted at various Institutes of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (IHMCT). Total seats: 5678.

The Programme is offered jointly by NCHMCT and the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). This programme also involves in-depth laboratory work for students to acquire the required knowledge in the operational areas of food production; food and beverage service;front office operations; and house keeping; and providing managerial inputs in hotel accountancy; food safety and quality; human resource management; facility planning;financial management; strategic management; tourism marketing; and tourism management.

Those who have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination or appearing in the final examination with English as one of the compulsory subjects are eligible to apply. Upper age limit is 22 as on July 1, 2009 (relaxable up to 25 for candidates belonging to the scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes).

The Joint Entrance Examination is of three hours duration, which covers questions from numeral ability and scientific aptitude (30 question); reasoning and logical deduction (30);general knowledge and current affairs(30); English language (80); and aptitude for service sector(30).

JEE 2009 will be held on May 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Application form can be downloaded from the website: www.nchmct.org.

Duly filled-in application forms along with acknowledgement card and admit cards (in triplicate) should be sent by registered post to JEE Cell, National Council for Hotel Management and catering Technology, A-34, Sector 62, Noida-201 301 so as to reach the addressee on or before April 8.

SMP: SMP is a specialized and intensive academic programme that helps potential students to acquire skill and knowledge of the securities market. Wide range of papers are taught along with hands-on project in one term with a firm in the securities market.

Eligibility criteria: Candidates possessing Master’s Degree OR Bachelor’s Degree of three years duration from a recognized Indian University. Holders of Bachelor’s Degree should have relevant post qualification experience of at least two years.

SALTIRE SCHOLARSHIP


Scotland Saltire scheme, to young professionals from across the world.

Scotland is offering a new scholarship award, under the aegis of the Scotland Saltire scheme, to young professionals from across the world.

The Saltire Scholarships 2009 scheme has on offer 50 awards for Indian students to study for a post-graduate degree in Scotland.

Scheme

According to a release, the new scheme is part of the Scottish governments continuing support for the brightest and best Indian students to study in Scotland.

The scheme assists overseas students to undertake 12-month PG masters level courses in Scotland.

The awards, each worth Rs.1,43,000, are funded by the Scottish Government and are supplemented by contributions from Scottish universities and higher education institutions.
