How To Apply:

You don't need to buy the CAT Bulletin from any bank, but a prospective candidate can buy a scratch-voucher from the designated bank branches, and, later registers online for CAT 2009.



Sale of vouchers starts on Wednesday, 9 September 2009 at designated bank branches and their associate outlets. The sale ends on Thursday, 1 October 2009.



Once you buy the scratch voucher, online registration for CAT 2009 will also begin on Wednesday, 9 September 2009 and end on Thursday, 1 October 2009. Instructions on access to online registration will be given in the voucher, and, detailed registration instructions will be on the CAT IIM website.

CAT will be held during the period Saturday, 28 November 2009 – Monday, 7 December 20009. Yes, you can choose a test date, session (morning/afternoon), and venue across thirty centres (cities) all over India, subject to availability.

SNAP Test for Symbiosis Postgraduate Programmes

Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test is a common written test for the admission processes of Symbiosis postgraduate institutes. These institutes are either affiliated to SIEC Deemed University or approved by AICTE. SNAP Test is conducted under the aegis of SIEC Deemed University.

It is a mandatory written test for admission into any postgraduate programme at Symbiosis. However, it is only the first step. Each institute has its own selection process and a student aspiring to do higher studies at Symbiosis needs to do the following:

SNAP Test Structure

SNAP Test duration is 120 minutes.

SNAP Test is an objective test. Each question has 4 responses. Candidate should choose an appropriate response. Each wrong answer attracts 25% negative marks.

Registration for SNAP:

Process of Registration:-
Register for SNAP Test at www.snaptest.org.This will generate your SNAP ID. For different modes of payment different ‘Payment Advice’ formats are created. Choose payment mode and print a ‘Payment Advice’ form online.

Cash Payment at Axis Bank.

Demand draft: Get a demand draft from any Nationalize Bank in favor of “Symbiosis Test Secretariat” payable at Pune. Sign the single copy of the ‘Payment Advice’ for DD and send it along with the DD to the Symbiosis Test Secretariat only.

Payment through Credit Card: Students may pay directly through either Master or Visa card online.

Prospectus will be sent to candidates by Symbiosis Test Secretariat.
The candidate has to make separate registration and payment for the particular institute where he is interested to take admission. For this the mode of payment is either by Credit Card or by Demand Draft. For candidates both the above mentioned processes are mandatory i.e. candidate has to pay for Test Fee + Prospectus Fee and pay separately to the institute as a particular institute’s registration fee.

Tution Fees
The exact amount of tuition fee and other chargers, as applicable for MBA (IB) 2010-12, will be informed to the students at the time of sending the offer letters in March 2010. However, for the current batch the tuition fee is Rs 3, 50,000 per year (50% concession to sc/st/ph candidates) and us$ 18,500 per year for foreign national/nri/children of nri.

Admission Procedure:

v The admissions procedure (in all subjects, except Science Education) consists of a written test at one of the 22 nationwide centres.

v Shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews to be held during end-February to early-April, 2010. Exact dates would be announced later.

v Results of the entrance examination will be announced on January 15, 2010 on this website and students shortlisted for interview will be intimated by email.

Scholarship

For PhD and Integrated PhD programmes, the academic year starts from August 1, every year. The academic year for MSc programme begins from July 1, every year.


v PhD:-
Students receive a monthly scholarship of Rs 12,000/- (enhanced to Rs 14,000/- after registration) and an annual contingency grant of Rs 15,000/-, in addition to a tuition grant covering the annual fees. The annual fee is Rs 4000/-.

v Integrated PhD (Biology/Mathematics):-

Students receive a monthly scholarship of Rs 12,000/- (enhanced to Rs 14,000/- from third year onwards, subject to passing the Comprehensive Exam/registration), in addition to tuition grant covering the annual fees.

v MSc (Biology):-

Students receive a monthly scholarship of Rs 10,000/- and the annual fee is Rs 2000/-.

Accommodation is provided to Ph.D. and Integrated Ph.D. students only, at a nominal cost.

The filled-in application form should be sent along with DD and two passport size photographs (one pasted on the application and one stapled to it).

v Students may appear for the written test in multiple subjects if the timings do not clash. Please send a separate application (including Demand Draft) for each subject. In case of online applicants, students will have to re-register with a different email id.

v Students who wish to apply online and make payment by Demand Draft may send the Demand Draft with their name, reference code and telephone number written behind it. Alternately, students can make online payment by Debit/Credit Card.



Application Fee and Payment:

Application Fee (Non-Refundable): Rs 500/- for online applications and Rs 550/- for manual applications. Rs 800/- for students who wish to take the test as walk-in candidates (Please see the walk-ins section on this website).



Application fee can be paid online by Debit/Credit Card or through Demand Draft.



Demand Draft: Biology: DD should be drawn on State Bank of India in favour of "National Centre for Biological Science" payable at Bangalore. Other Subjects: DD should be drawn on State Bank of India in favour of "Tata Institute of Fundamental Research" payable at Mumbai.

The last date for receipt of the completed application with the hall ticket form filled-in by the candidate is 12.9.2009 (Saturday) -- 5.00 pm. Application forms incomplete in any respect are liable to be rejected and will not be processed for issue of hall ticket.

Method of Selection:

Selection for DM Courses are made through a 2-Stage performance evaluation

Stage I (400 marks): Written Test with question paper consisting of 100 multiple choice questions (MCQ). Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks. For each wrong answer one mark will be deducted. If more than one answer is marked, it will be treated as wrong answer and given negative marks.

For DM (Neurology): MCQs will be distributed as 20 in General Medicine, 20 in General Pediatrics and 60 in Neurology.

For DM (Clinical Immunology): MCQs will be distributed as 20 in General Medicine, 20 in General Pediatrics and 60 in Immunology.

Stage II (80 marks): Out of the candidates who secure 50% of marks or above in the Written test (Stage I), Candidates 5 times the number of seats advertised will be called for interview assessment by the Selection Committee, duly constituted for the purpose, on the next working day.

CSIR will hold the Joint CSIr-UGC Test 20th December, 2009 for determining the eligibility of the Indian national candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) NET and for determining eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (NET) in certain subject areas falling under the faculty of Science. The award of Junior Research Fellowship (NET) to the successful eligible candidates will depend on their finding admission/placement in a university/national laboratory/institution of higher learning and research, as applicable


A candidate may apply either for ‘JRF + Lectureship’ both or for ‘Lectureship (LS) only’ He/She may indicate his/her preference in the O.M.R. Application Form/Online Application, as the case may be. CSIR may consider candidates applying for ‘JRF + LS’ for ‘Lectureship only’ depending on number of fellowships available and performance in the test subject to the condition that they fulfill the laid down eligibility criterion. If a candidate is found to be over-age for JRF (NET) he/she will automatically be considered for Lectureship (NET) only.

Two separate merit lists, one comprising the candidates qualifying for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF – NET) and the second of those candidates qualifying the Eligibility Test for Lectureship (NET), will be made on the basis of their performance in the above Test. Candidates qualifying for JRF (NET), will also be eligible for Lectureship (NET). The candidates qualifying for Lectureship will be eligible for recruitment as Lecturers as well as for JRF-ship in a Scheme/Project, if otherwise suitable as per the eligible criteria of that Scheme/Project. However, they will not be eligible for Regular JRF-NET Fellowship. They will be eligible to pursue Ph.D. programme with or without any fellowship other than JRF-NET. Candidates qualifying for the award of JRF (NET) will receive fellowship either from CSIR or UGC as per their assignment or from the Schemes with which they may find association. The candidates declared eligible for Junior Research Fellowship under UGC scheme will be governed by UGC rules/regulations in this regard.

The final result of this test may be declared sometime in the month of March 2010 and fellowship to successful candidates could be awarded from 01.07.2010. The result of Paper-I of last June, 2009 NET held on 21.06.2009 has been declared and may be seen on our website

Subjects of the test
The test will be held in the subjects as given under

Chemical Science, Earth Atmospheric Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences

Education Qualification
M.Sc or equivalent degree under the subjects mentioned above, with minimum 55% marks for General and OBC candidates; 50% for SC/ST candidates, Physically and Visually Handicapped candidates and Ph.D. degree holders who had passed Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991.

A candidate can also apply for the Test under RA (Result Awaited) category, if he/she is appearing or has appeared in his/her final year (III/IV Semester where Semester system is there) of M.Sc. or equivalent degree examination in subjects mentioned in above during the academic session 2009-2010. Such candidates will have to submit the attestation format (given at the reverse of the application form) duly certified by the Head of the Deptt./Institute over his/her signature and rubber stamp (with address and name) from where the candidate is appearing or has appeared in the final year M.SC or equivalent degree examination. However, such candidates shall be admitted to the Test provisionally. They shall only be considered eligible for JRF-(NET)/LS-(NET), if they are able to produce the proof of having passed the Master’s Degree examination in the relevant or related subject with the requisite percentage of marks and within the stipulated time frame.

Age limit and relaxation
For JRF (NET): Minimum 19 years and maximum 28 years as on 01.07.2009 (upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years as in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, Physically handicapped/Visually handicapped and female applicants.

For LS (NET): Minimum 19 years as on 01.07.2009. No upper age limit.

Date and scheme of the CSIR UGC Test
The test will be held in two sessions on Sunday, the 20th December 2009. The scheme of Examination as under

Paper I, Marks – 200, Timings – 10.00 a.m.-12.30 p.m., Duration – 2-1/2 hrs

Paper II, Marks – 200, Timings – 2.00 p.m.-4.30 p.m., Duration – 2-1/2 hrs

Negative marking will be made for wrong answers in Paper I. Paper II will be evaluated only in case of those candidates who will be able to secure a minimum of such aggregate marks in Paper-I as may be fixed by the CSIR.

Candidates are required to appear in both the papers. A candidate who does not appear in Paper I will not be permitted to appear in Paper II. The questions in papers-I & II will appear both in Hindi and English.

Syllabus of the Test

Examination centres
The test will be held at 25 centres spread all over India, as specified below: Bangalore, Bhavnagar, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Nagpur, Pilani, Pune, Raipur, Roorkee, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur and Varanasi.

A candidate may opt for any of the above centres. No request for change of centre would ordinarily be granted. However, a request in writing for change of centre may be entertained on merits, if received in this unit latest by 20.10.2009

How to apply
Option I: Apply through ‘Information Bulletin’

By hand: Candidates applying for the test may obtain the Information bulletin and application forms (inclusive of fee payable) through the branches of the Bank notified below in para 5.4 (within the prescribed dates) by paying the following fee in cash

General category: Rs. 400/-

OBC: Rs. 200/-

SC/ST/Physically or visually handicapped: Rs. 100/-

By Post: The Information bulletin and application form may also be obtained through Value Payable Post (VPP) from the Indian Bank, 3/1, West Patel Nagar, New Delhi-110008, by sending a crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 400/-. Rs. 200/- or Rs. 100/- (as the case may be) drawn in favour of ‘Indian Bank, West Patel Nagar, New Delhi’ payable at New Delhi. For this purpose, the candidate should send a request to the Bank with two self-addressed slips clearly mentioning the address at which he/she desires the Information Bulletin and application form to be sent by Value Payable Post (VPP). As above mentioned Bank will entertain the request for forms through post from Tuesday, the 25th August, 2009 to Wednesday, the 16th September 2009 only, hence, candidates are advised to send well in advance so as to reach their request within the above said period. The candidate should write his/her name, Date of Birth, address, date of Examination (20.12.2009) and subject code on the back of the Demand Draft so that it can be located easily, if it gets detached accidentally from the letter of request for supply of Information Bulletin. However, before attaching the draft with letter of request, the candidates should check that it bears the code number of the issuing bank and drawee bank and also amount and signatures of issuing authority.

Option II: Apply through online application

Interested and eligible candidates may apply for this test online through a link available at CSIR, HRDG website: www.csirhrdg.res.in. In order to apply Online the candidates are required to download Bank challan performa from the above website and then deposit the requisite examination fee in any of the Indian Bank branches through out the country. The examination fee for the online application is same as mentioned above. Candidates after successfully submitting application online are required to take print out of the application form, paste his/her recent black and white photograph, put his/her signature at the required space, attach requisite certificates an send along with CSIR marked copy of fee deposited bank challan in an envelop to Sr. Controller of Examinations, Human Resource Development Group, Examination Unit, CSIR complex, library avenue, Pusa, New Delhi-110012 so as to reach on or before 29.09.2009 (06.10.2009 for remote areas). Online applications with out hard copy or bank challan receipt of incomplete in any respect will be summarily rejected. Before applying Online, candidates are advised to go through detailed notification available at CSIR, HRDG website.

Examination fee paid along with the Information bulletin or through bank challan for a particular examination will neither be adjusted for any subsequent examination nor refunded under any circumstances. Similarly, candidates should also check all the column of bank challan, online application, which are to be filled in properly to avoid cancellation of application. Please note that fee submitted any other mode like money order, demand draft, IPO etc. will be summarily rejected.

The last date for submission of application form: The application form (through bank or online), duly completed with requisite enclosures should be sent under certificate of posting (UPC) to the Sr. Controller of Examinations, examination unit, Human Resource Development Group, CSIR Complex, Opposite Institute of Hotel Management, Library Avenue, Pusa, New Delhi-110012 so as to reach examination unit CSIR on or before 29.09.2009.

For candidates applying from Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of J&K state, Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshdweep, the application form must reach the Controller of examination CSIR on or before 06.10.2009

The candidates are advised in their own interest to apply early enough to ensure timely receipt of their applications by the Examination unit on or before the closing date.

Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test is a common written test for the admission processes of Symbiosis postgraduate institutes. These institutes are either affiliated to SIEC Deemed University or approved by AICTE. SNAP Test is conducted under the aegis of SIEC Deemed University.

* You may pay cash only at an Axis Bank branch. Print ‘Axis Bank Challan’ which is in 3 parts. Pay Rs. 1500/- in cash at any Axis Bank branch in your city. Admit Card should be printed from the website. This will be operative from December 07, 2009 and will remain open till December 20, 2009.Ensure the following.

* Print the SNAP Test 2009 Admit Card online.
* Bring the Admit card with the Photo Id Proof to the Test Center. An acceptable photo identity is any one of *Passport * Driving license *College / Institute identity card, *Credit card with photograph,* Voter ID Card. At the time of the written test, it is mandatory to produce photo identity as described above.
Symbiosis Authorized Person will verify and authenticate your Admit Card against the photo-id.
Please preserve this authenticated Admit Card for further selection processes of individual Institutes.

The Institution of Permanent Way Engineers (India) Invites applications for admission to the Correspondence Course of Diploma in Railway Engineering for the academic year 2009-10. The Course comprises of two semesters of 6 months each. Some of the salient features of the Diploma Course are given below :


Eligibility:
(a) Railway Personnel working as employees of Indian Railways including employees of Konkan Railway, Port Trust Railways, RITES, IRCON, CRIS, CONCOR, DMRC, RVNL, MVRC and other Railway PSUs : High School/SSC or equivalent qualification with maths or science and having a minimum of 3 years experience or having 3-years Diploma in any Engineering discipline recognised by Central/State or Union Territory Government or a Science/ Engineering Graduate or a Graduate having had Maths or Science as one of the subjects in Intermediate/Plus 2 of SSC.

(b) Non-Railway persons: The applicant should be a 3-years Diploma holder in any discipline of Engineering recognised by Central/State or UT Government or a Science/Engineering Graduate or a Graduate having had Maths or Science as one of the subjects in Intermediate/Plus 2 of S.S.C.

Recognition & Concessions:
The Ministry of Railways has recognised the Diploma Course and has granted the following concessions/benefits:

(i) For Railway Personnel: The Ministry of Railways has approved the Diploma Course as an additional qualification for promotion to all selection posts for Railway employees in Group C Category.

(ii)For Non-Railway persons: The Ministry of Railways accepts the Diploma as a desirable additional qualification for recruitment to various posts through Railway Recruitment Board in technical departments of the Railways.
