CAT 2009 scores for admission



Around 150 non IIM Management Institutes will be using CAT 2009 scores for admission to their management programmes in 2010

JMET 2010 Notification - Joint Management Entrance Test 2010 Dates



Appearing for Joint Management Entrance Test 2010 (JMET 2010) is the first step in the process of seeking admission to the Post-Graduate Programmes in Management offered by IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee to the 2-YEAR FULL TIME Post-Graduate Degree Programmes in Management offered by IISc and the IITs for the academic year beginning July/Aug 2010

JMET 2010 is only a qualifying examination. Candidates have to apply separately to the Institutes of their choice. They are also advised to look up the details provided in the brochure about the programmes available in the participating Institutes. There is no limit to the number of programmes a candidate can apply to, so long as he or she meets the eligibility criteria.

HOW to APPLY for IIT JMET 2010


JMET 2010 Application Form has to be submitted ONLINE. ONLINE submission of application can be done by accessing the website of any of the IITs or IISc. There are two modes of applying based on the method of fee payment that you choose.

1. By Core Banking

2. By Demand Draft

The application fee is Rs.350/- for SC/ST/PD candidates and Rs. 750/- for all other candidates. After applying ONLINE, there are some documents that you will have to post to the "Chairman, GATE Office, IISc Bangalore-560012".

A list of Management Programmes and eligibility criteria to apply for these programmes in individual Institutes are given below. Please refer to pages 19 to 46 for further details. Candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria listed against the Management School/Department of each Institute can appear for the JMET examination. Check out Complete Details

Students in their final year of qualifying degree course are also eligible to apply. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally, and their continuation in the programme is subject to the completion of all requirements for the qualifying degree and submission of provisional degree certificate on or before the date stipulated by the admitting Institute.

JMET 2010 Examination
Candidates will be required to appear in a single paper of three hours duration. The examination will be held from 10:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs on Sunday, December 13, 2009. The question paper will be in english only.


Before applying for JMET 2010, candidates must assure themselves that they are eligible to seek admission to the specific programme they are interested in. The eligiblity criteria for admission to the various management schools are different in various Institutes. For more details, the candidates are required to contact the Institutes to which they are interested in seeking admission.

After qualifying JMET 2010, a candidate has to apply separately to each of the schools / departments of management in various IITs wherein she / he wishes to seek admission. The application duly filled in and signed must reach the concerned Institute by January 30, 2010.

Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI) for candidates seeking admission will be held at the respective Institutes.

How To Apply:

You don't need to buy the CAT Bulletin from any bank, but a prospective candidate can buy a scratch-voucher from the designated bank branches, and, later registers online for CAT 2009.



Sale of vouchers starts on Wednesday, 9 September 2009 at designated bank branches and their associate outlets. The sale ends on Thursday, 1 October 2009.



Once you buy the scratch voucher, online registration for CAT 2009 will also begin on Wednesday, 9 September 2009 and end on Thursday, 1 October 2009. Instructions on access to online registration will be given in the voucher, and, detailed registration instructions will be on the CAT IIM website.
Important Dates:

CAT will be held during the period Saturday, 28 November 2009 – Monday, 7 December 20009. Yes, you can choose a test date, session (morning/afternoon), and venue across thirty centres (cities) all over India, subject to availability.

SNAP Test for Symbiosis Postgraduate Programmes

Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test is a common written test for the admission processes of Symbiosis postgraduate institutes. These institutes are either affiliated to SIEC Deemed University or approved by AICTE. SNAP Test is conducted under the aegis of SIEC Deemed University.

It is a mandatory written test for admission into any postgraduate programme at Symbiosis. However, it is only the first step. Each institute has its own selection process and a student aspiring to do higher studies at Symbiosis needs to do the following:

Process of Registration:-
Register for SNAP Test at www.snaptest.org.This will generate your SNAP ID. For different modes of payment different ‘Payment Advice’ formats are created. Choose payment mode and print a ‘Payment Advice’ form online.

Cash Payment at Axis Bank.

Demand draft: Get a demand draft from any Nationalize Bank in favor of “Symbiosis Test Secretariat” payable at Pune. Sign the single copy of the ‘Payment Advice’ for DD and send it along with the DD to the Symbiosis Test Secretariat only.

Payment through Credit Card: Students may pay directly through either Master or Visa card online.

Prospectus will be sent to candidates by Symbiosis Test Secretariat.
The candidate has to make separate registration and payment for the particular institute where he is interested to take admission. For this the mode of payment is either by Credit Card or by Demand Draft. For candidates both the above mentioned processes are mandatory i.e. candidate has to pay for Test Fee + Prospectus Fee and pay separately to the institute as a particular institute’s registration fee.

Final year students with consistently good academic record and knowledge of advanced topics may also apply for the relevant subjects.


Candidates not holding a Master's degree and admitted to a PhD programme can receive an MSc degree by fulfilling prescribed requirements. See www.tifr.res.in/~gsoffice for details.


Admission Procedure:

v The admissions procedure (in all subjects, except Science Education) consists of a written test at one of the 22 nationwide centres.

v Shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews to be held during end-February to early-April, 2010. Exact dates would be announced later.

v Results of the entrance examination will be announced on January 15, 2010 on this website and students shortlisted for interview will be intimated by email.

Scholarship

For PhD and Integrated PhD programmes, the academic year starts from August 1, every year. The academic year for MSc programme begins from July 1, every year.


v PhD:-
Students receive a monthly scholarship of Rs 12,000/- (enhanced to Rs 14,000/- after registration) and an annual contingency grant of Rs 15,000/-, in addition to a tuition grant covering the annual fees. The annual fee is Rs 4000/-.

v Integrated PhD (Biology/Mathematics):-

Students receive a monthly scholarship of Rs 12,000/- (enhanced to Rs 14,000/- from third year onwards, subject to passing the Comprehensive Exam/registration), in addition to tuition grant covering the annual fees.

v MSc (Biology):-

Students receive a monthly scholarship of Rs 10,000/- and the annual fee is Rs 2000/-.

Accommodation is provided to Ph.D. and Integrated Ph.D. students only, at a nominal cost.

v Students can apply online. Please follow appropriate link on this website for filling up the application form. Please read the instructions carefully before you start filling up the online application form.

v Students who want to apply manually may send a request for application form (without DD) to:

The filled-in application form should be sent along with DD and two passport size photographs (one pasted on the application and one stapled to it).

v Students may appear for the written test in multiple subjects if the timings do not clash. Please send a separate application (including Demand Draft) for each subject. In case of online applicants, students will have to re-register with a different email id.

v Students who wish to apply online and make payment by Demand Draft may send the Demand Draft with their name, reference code and telephone number written behind it. Alternately, students can make online payment by Debit/Credit Card.



Application Fee and Payment:

Application Fee (Non-Refundable): Rs 500/- for online applications and Rs 550/- for manual applications. Rs 800/- for students who wish to take the test as walk-in candidates (Please see the walk-ins section on this website).



Application fee can be paid online by Debit/Credit Card or through Demand Draft.



Demand Draft: Biology: DD should be drawn on State Bank of India in favour of "National Centre for Biological Science" payable at Bangalore. Other Subjects: DD should be drawn on State Bank of India in favour of "Tata Institute of Fundamental Research" payable at Mumbai.

Apply Online

Before you start filling up the online application make sure the following are ready with you:

1. A scanned image file (preferably a jpg file) of your Passport size photograph. Applications with personal photos or edited photos uploaded will be rejected

2. Demand Draft details (DD number, bank, etc.) or Credit / Debit Card details for online payment of application fee.



Important Instructions:

Your login account username would be the reference code that will be generated by the system on successful registration. If you intend to apply form multiple subjects, you will have to provide different email id for each application.

Check all the details once again before clicking the registration button.

You may take a print of your application after successful registration or save the same as a pdf file. Applicants wishing to pay by DD may send the DD by writing their reference code, name and telephone number behind it.

Applicants paying the application fee online will be directed to the payment gateway. Follow the instructions and complete the payment transaction.

Students will be able to login to their account and check the status of their application, payment and hall ticket.

Hall tickets will be issued or will be allowed to be generated only after the last date of receipt of applications, subject to receipt of payment. Date will be announced later.

Eligibility for Post Doctoral Fellowship course in Diabetology (1 Year Duration)



1. Candidate must be a Resident Indian National

Hall tickets: Candidates are required to collect their Hall tickets for the entrance examination personally or through a letter of authority from the Academic section on 19.9.2009 from 9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. The hall ticket will not be dispatched by post. The venue of the entrance exam is Institute Block, JIPMER.

The application form and the form for hall ticket for the afore mentioned courses can be downloaded from JIPMER www.jipmer.edu.in Filled-in application and hall ticket forms with due signature, finger print and photograph, enclosing a MICR Bank Draft for Rs.1000/- (One Thousand only) drawn in favour of “Accounts Officer, JIPMER” payable at Pondicherry, (UT) shall be posted to Professor (Academic), JIPMER, Puducherry-605 006. The last date for receipt of the completed application with the hall ticket form filled-in by the candidate is 12.9.2009 (Saturday) -- 5.00 pm. Application forms incomplete in any respect are liable to be rejected and will not be processed for issue of hall ticket.



The relevant page of the application for downloading from JIPMER website will function from 9.00 a.m. of 15.08.2009 to 4.00 p.m. of 12.09.2009.

Note:

Service candidates should route their applications through their employers.

Candidates can apply for only one course.

Candidates for all courses, including sponsored candidates, are required to appear for entrance examination.

No pre-printed applications either by postal request from Academic section or by cash from any Bank are available for these admissions notified above.

Applications submitted / received after the due date will not be considered, under any circumstances.

Applications without the bank draft will be rejected without any further correspondence.

Service candidates can send their advance copy with the bank draft. However they will not be permited for the interview if the application forwarded by the employer does not reach the Professor Academic before 22-09-2009 (date of the interview).

Method of Selection:

Selection for DM Courses are made through a 2-Stage performance evaluation

Stage I (400 marks): Written Test with question paper consisting of 100 multiple choice questions (MCQ). Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks. For each wrong answer one mark will be deducted. If more than one answer is marked, it will be treated as wrong answer and given negative marks.

For DM (Neonatology): MCQs will be distributed as 40 in General Pediatrics and 60 in Neonatology.

For DM (Neurology): MCQs will be distributed as 20 in General Medicine, 20 in General Pediatrics and 60 in Neurology.

For DM (Clinical Immunology): MCQs will be distributed as 20 in General Medicine, 20 in General Pediatrics and 60 in Immunology.

For DM (Clinical Pharmacology): MCQs will be 20 in General Medicine, 20 in General Pediatrics and 60 in Pharmacology.

For Fellowship in Diabetology: MCQs will be 40 in General Medicine and 60 in Diabetology.

Stage II (80 marks): Out of the candidates who secure 50% of marks or above in the Written test (Stage I), Candidates 5 times the number of seats advertised will be called for interview assessment by the Selection Committee, duly constituted for the purpose, on the next working day.

No individual intimation will be sent regarding result of Stage I. It will be displayed on the Notice Board of Academic Section / JIPMER Website.

Candidates who fail to attend any of the 2 Stages mentioned above or secure less than 50% of marks in either stage will not be eligible for admission.
