Eligibility: For MBA, MBA (IB), MBA (HR):

* A Bachelor's/Post Graduate Degree in any discipline of the University or a degree of any other University which has been recognised by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate.

Provided that in the case of candidates having Bachelor's degree of the University through Modern Indian Languages [Hindi/Urdu/Punjabi (Gurmukhi script) and/ or in a Classical Language (Sanskrit/ Persian/ Arabic) or degree of any other University obtained in the same manner recognised by the Syndicate, 50% marks in the aggregate shall be calculated by taking into account full percentage of marks in all the papers in Language excluding the additional optional paper, English and the elective subject taken together. OR

* A pass in the final examination conducted by the (a) Institute of Chartered Accountants of India or England, or (b) Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India or England, and (c) Institute of Company Secretaries of India. OR

* AMIE Examination with 50% marks or more after having passed the diploma examination with 60% marks or above and have at least 5 years research/teaching or professional experience. AND

* Minimum of 10% score (5% in case of SC/ST candidates) in each component of the Common Admission Test (CAT) viz., quantitative, logic & data interpretation, and verbal and/or any other component which may be added later at any stage to the CAT.

For MBA (Biotech):

* A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biological Sciences, i.e., Biology, Botany, Microbiology, Zoology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Genetics, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Veterinary Sciences, BE/ B.Tech. (Biotechnology), B.Sc. (Bio-informatics), MBBS, BDS and BE (Informatics) of a University recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate. AND

* Minimum of 10% score (5% in case of SC/ST candidates) in each component of Common Admission Test (CAT), i.e., quantitative, logic & data interpretation, and verbal and/or any other component which may be added later at any stage to the CAT.

Application procedure: APPLY SEPARATELY TO UBS, CHANDIGARH. APPLICATION FORM and HANDBOOK OF INFORMATION 2010 will be available at Post Office, Sector-14, Panjab University, Chandigarh, on payment of Rs.1600/- (Rs.800/- for SC/ST candidates) from October 26. 2009 to November 26, 2009.

Forms can also be obtained by post up to November 13, 2009 from Manager, Publication Bureau, Panjab University, Chandigarh, by enclosing a crossed Bank Draft for Rs.1680l- (Rs.880/- for SC/ST candidates) in favour of Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh, payable at Chandigarh, and a self-addressed envelope (30 x 25 cms).

3rd Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Rural Development Management (PGDRDM) 2010-2012

National Institute or Rural Development (NIRD) is a premier national center of excellence in rural development. Recognised as one of the UN-ESCAP Centers of Excellence in HRD, it builds capacities of the rural development functionaries, elected representatives, academicians and young students through inter-related activities of teaching, training, research, action research and consultancy. Its faculty comprises of experienced academicians and' development practitioners. The Institute has functional networks with national and international organizations, excellent training and teaching infrastructure, with air-conditioned conference halls, library, video conferencing facilities, furnished hostel rooms, a health center and an indoor sports complex with gymnasium, swimming pool and Yoga Center.

The NIRD announces its third fully residential One Year 'Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Rural Development Management (PGDRDM)' with an aim to create a committed and competent cadre of Rural Development professionals the country. While laying the theoretical foundations of rural development, the programme seeks to impart management techniques that will enhance the understanding' of the paradigm and practice of rural development. All tire students of the first batch have been placed. The secgrra batch is in progress. The NIRD is also launching a/Post-Graduate Diploma Programme in Sustainable Rural "Development in a distance education mode. Separate advertisement will be issued for that programme.

Eligibility: Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University. Students who are in the final year and expect to complete all the requirements of graduation before 1st August, 2010 may also apply/Some seats are reserved for the Indian in-service candidates and international students sponsored by regional development organizations such as AARDO, CIRDAP, SAARC and South American Organizations. In-service candidates should possess with at least two years of work experience in rural development and allied sectors and they are required to apply through their employers. The international candidates should apply through the secretariats of the respective regional organisations viz., AARDO, CIRDAP etc., if they want funding support from them. They may however, send an advance application. Self-financed international students may apply directly. In-service Indian candidates are required to appear for the Entrance Test along with the general students. The eligibility parameters for international students are placed on the NIRD's website.



Selection Process: Selection of candidates will be made through a process of All-India Entrance Test which will test the verbal, quantitative and analytical competencies of the students. Group Discussion and Personal Interviews will be conducted for the short-listed students. TOTAL NO. OF SEATS: 60 (may undergo some changes depending upon infrastructural contingencies. Of these, up to 10 seats may be allotted to the in-service national and international candidates).

Programme Duration: (One year) August, 2010 to July, 2011

Course Fee: Indian Students Rs. 1.40 lakh; International Students: US $ 6000

Board and Lodging: The annual board and lodging expenses will be approximately Rs.90,000 for Indian students and US $ 4000 for international students. Accommodation will be given to the students in the NIRD campus.

Caution Deposit: A refundable Caution Deposit of Rs. 10,000 for Indian and US $ 200 for International students (Mess Deposit, Library Deposit and Hostel Deposit) is a requirement.

Seat Reservation Fee: Upon selection, a non-refundable Seat Reservation Fee of Rs. 14,000 for Indian students and US $ 600 for international students should be paid.

Scholarships: Merit and need based scholarships will be made available to deserving Indian students. The North Eastern Council, Shillong, has fully funded the North Eastern students selected for the PGDRDM in 2008-09. Similar financial support to the admitted students domiciled in the North Eastern region is likely for the years 2009-10 and 2010-11 subject to a maximum of two students from each of the eight North Eastern states. Bank loans will also be facilitated by the NIRD for needy Indian students.

Reservation: Reservations for the students of the SC/ST/ OBC (Non-creamy layer) and Persons with Disability (PWD) will be made as per Government of India's policies.

ENTRANCE TEST: The Entrance Test will be conducted on 24.01.2010 at the following centres: Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dibrugarh, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Indore, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, KolkataJ&jhima.Kanpur, Lucknow, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Rajkot, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, SiligurL/Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur and Vishajtffapatanam. The NIRD reserves the right to cancel any of tha'centres for any administrative reasons and assign any other /centre to the applicants.

Placement: NIRD will endeavour to make placements on successful completion of the PGDRDM, but does not guarantee. However, all the students of the first batch of the PGDRDM were placed with state and central government agencies, public sector banks and non-governmental organizations. The same trend is expected this year as well.

Application forms will also be given at NIRD - NERC office at Khanapara, Guwahati and at the Eastern Regional Centre of NIRD at Patna. Request for Application forms by Post should reach along with self addressed stamped (Rs.13) envelope of size 12" x 10" by 11.12.09 during working hours (9.00 am to 5.30 pm). The filled in application form should be submitted along with the application fee of Rs.1200 (Rs.600/- for SC/ST and PWD candidates) and US $ 50 for international candidates through an 'Account Payee' Demand Draft drawn in favour of NIRD. Last date for receipt of applications from the students residing in the North Eastern States is 24.12.09 and for international students 08.01.2010.

Applications received after the cut off date shall be rejected. NIRD reserves the right to make changes to the Diploma Programme, its design/content and the process of selection, depending upon the exigencies, without assigning any reasons whatsoever.

Admission to the Ph.D Programmes: Admission to the Ph.D. programmes is normally made on the basis of a interview conducted by the Department/Centre concerned through its Department research committee (DRC) / Centre research committee (CRC). DRC/CRC may decide to conduct a written test as well to screen the candidates

Minimum Qualifications for admission to Part-time and Sponsored (full-time) Ph.D Programmes:

The following eligibility conditions apply for the Part-time and sponsored full-time programmes.
1. Only employees of Public Sector Undertakings or Government Departments or Research and Development Organizations or Private Industries (approved by Faculty Boards) are eligible for admission to these programmes.
2. All candidates should have a minimum experience of two years as on 1st January, 2010 for admission in January, 2010.
3. Minimum qualification for these candidates is the same as for full-time candidates except that the requirement of qualifying in a national examination (column 3 in Table 1) is waived off.
4. For part-time candidates from outside NCR (or at a radial distance of more than 50 KMs from IIT Delhi), there is a minimum residency requirement of 6 months. DRC/CRC may specify a higher residency requirement based on the courses recommended as well as the background.

5. Sponsored (full-time) candidates seeking admission to a Ph.D programme on the basis of study leave, must submit a "Sponsorship certificate" on a proper letterhead from the appropriate authority in the organization clearly stating the following:

- for the period of his/her studies in the programme, the candidate would be treated as on duty with usual salary and allowances, and
- that he/she will be fully relieved and granted study leave for a minimum period of 3years(2yearsfor M.Tech. and equivalent degree holders).

6. Part-time candidates are required to submit a "No Objection Certificate" on a proper letterhead from the appropriate authority in the organization clearly stating the following:
- the candidate is permitted to pursue studies on a part-time basis
- that his/her official duties permit him/her to devote sufficient time for research.
- facilities for research in the candidate's field of research are available at the candidate's place of work; and
- he/she will be fully relieved from duty and permitted to reside at the Institute for the period required residency (This is not a requirement for candidates who are working in NCR or in organizations located within a distance of 50 KMs from the Institute).

The minimum duration of M.S. (Research) Programme is 4 semesters (24 months) for full-time studens and 6 semesters (36 months) for part-time students. The minimum Credits requirement for the M.S. (Research) degree is 60 credits including thesis.

Part-Time programmes: IIT Delhi also offers its MS(R) programmes in the part-time mode for working professionals. They are expected to complete their credit requirements in six semesters (maximum of ten semesters) by registering for a lower load than full-time students in each semester. Departments/Centres offer most of the core courses between 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM to enable these working professions to attend classes as well as continue with their full-time employment. Please note it may not always be feasible to slot all courses of the programme in the morning and those candidates applying for part-time programmes should be flexible to take courses at other times if required.

II (a) Minimum qualifications and procedure for admission to Full-time MS(R) Programmes:

Table below defines the minimum qualifications required for admission to full-time MS(R) programmes at IIT Delhi for General/OBC (Non-creamy Layer) category students. In this context please note:

• These are Institute minimum requirements and any Department/Centre operating through their DRC/CRC/PEC can specify higher short-listing criteria than what is specified here.

• This Table includes many degrees for eligibility but each DRC/CRC/PEC is free to specify the qualifying degree disciplines as well as GATE disciplines acceptable for admission to their programmes.

• Candidates in the final year of their programmes and who expect to complete all their qualifying degree requirements before third week of December 2009 are eligible to apply for admission. For short-listing purposes, their performance till the preceding semester (preceding year if their programmes are year based) would be considered but their admission would be subject to their meeting the minimum eligibility criteria after their final qualifying examination results are announced.

MS(R) (Direct without test/interview)
B.E./B.Tech/ M.Sc or equivalent with 75% marks or 8.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale GATE score >= 300 or qualifying score whichever is higher

MS(R) (Admission with test/interview)
B.E./B.Tech/ M.Sc or equivalent with 60% marks or 6.75 CGPA on a 10-point scale GATE score >= 300 or qualifying score whichever is higher

Minimum Qualifications for admission to Part-time and Sponsored (full-time) MS(R) Programmes:
The following additional eligibility conditions and relaxations apply for the Part-time and sponsored full-time programmes.

appropriate authority in the organization clearly stating the following:

The completed application form alongwith a Bank Draft of Rs.300/- for General/OBC (Non-creamy layer) candidates (Rs. 150/- for SC/ST/PH), drawn in favour of "Registrar, IIT Delhi", payable at New Delhi should be sent to the address given in para (iii) below. The form not accompanied with the Bank Draft will not be entertained.

ii) Collection of Application form through post or in person
Application Form and Information Brochure can also be obtained from the the address given in para (iii) below by sending application fee of Rs. 300/- for General/OBC (Non-creamy layer) candidates (Rs. 150/- for SC/ST/PH candidates) by a Bank Draft drawn in favour of "Registrar, IIT Delhi" payable at New Delhi, along with a self addressed envelope (25 cm x 20 cm) affixing postage stamps worth Rs. 15/-. Applications are invited in the prescribed form for All India Pre-Medical / Pre-Dental Entrance Examination (AIPMT) 2010 to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi as per the following schedule for admission to 15% of the total seats for Medical/Dental Courses in all Medical/Dental Colleges run by the Union of India, State Governments, Municipal and other local authorities in India except in the States of ANDHRA PRADESH AND JAMMU &
KASHMIR :-
1. Preliminary Examination - 3rd April, 2010 (Saturday)
2. Final Examination - 16th May, 2010 (Sunday)

PATTERN OF EXAMINATION: BOTH PRELIMINARY AND FINAL EXAMINATION WOULD BE OBJECTIVE TYPE.
Eligibility for CBSE AIPMT 2010

(i) He/She has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year M.B.B.S./B.D.S. course and is an INDIAN NATIONAL.

(ii) The upper age limit for All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination is 25 years as on 31st December of the year of the entrance examination. Further provided that upper age limit shall be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for the candidates of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes.

(iii) The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at All India Pre-Medical/Pre- Dental Entrance Examination shall be limited to 3 (three) uniformly for all the candidates.

(iv) The candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at the qualifying examination. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 50% for General Candidates. Further, for persons for locomotory disability of lower limbs, the minimum of 45% marks for General-PH and 40% marks for SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH are required. Those who are taking plus two examination in 2010 can also appear for the entrance test provisionally subject to their fulfilling the conditions later.

(v) 15% seats for SC candidates, 7.5% seats for ST candidates, 27% seats for non-creamy layer OBC candidates in Central Institutions only and 3% seats on horizontal basis for Physically Handicapped candidates are reserved in 15% All India Quota for MBBS/BDS courses.

Online submission of application may be made by accessing the Board’s website www.aipmt.nic.in from 20-10-2009 (10.00 A.M.) to 27-11-2009 (5.00 P.M.).

How to Apply ?

Instructions for sending online application, payment of fee and computer generated printout are available on the Board’s website.

Fee of Rs.800/- for General/OBC Category Candidates and Rs.450/- for SC/ST Category

Candidates may be remitted in the following ways:
1. By Credit card, or
2. Through Demand Draft in favour of the Secretary, Central Board of Secondary Education,
Delhi drawn on any Nationalized Bank payable at Delhi.

Offline
Offline submission of Application may be made on the prescribed Application Form. The Information Bulletin and Application Form costing Rs.800/- for General/OBC Category and Rs.450/- for SC/ST category can be obtained against Cash Payment from the designated branches of Canara Bank/Regional Offices of the CBSE between 20-10-2009 to 27-11-2009. Information Bulletin and AIPMT 2010 Application Form can also be obtained by Post from the Board by sending a written request with a Demand Draft for Rs.850/- for General/OBC Category and Rs.500/- for SC/ST Category payable to the Secretary, Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi along with a Self Addressed Envelope of size 12” x 10”. The request must reach to the Board on or before 18-11-2009. The request should be superscribed as “Request for Information Bulletin and Application Form for AIPMT-2010”.

Eligibility :
The minimum eligibility condition is Master’s Degree in the concerned subject from Kurukshetra University or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto with at least 55% marks. The condition of marks in the Master’s Degree shall be relaxable upto 50% in the case of University appointed or approved teachers with at least three years service as such.

For Scheduled Castes Candidates :
Minimum eligibility condition will be pass marks in the qualifying examination i.e. Master’s Degree in the respective subject.

5% relaxation in minimum eligibility condition will be given to Blind/Physically and Visually handicapped candidates.

There shall be no rounding of percentage of marks from 54.5% and above to 55%.

An Examination will be conducted by the UPSC on 18th April 2010, for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA for the 125th Course and Naval Academy for the 45th 10+2 (Executive Branch) course commencing from 30th December 2010. CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY :
(a) Nationality : A candidate must either be :
(i) a citizen of India, or
(ii) a subject of Bhutan, or
(iii) a subject of Nepal, or
(iv) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
Certificate of eligibility will not, however, be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.

(b) Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status :
"Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January 1992 and not later than 1st July, 1994 are eligible".

Educational Qualifications :
(i) For Army wing of National Defence Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course at the Naval Academy :- 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equilvalent with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University.


Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent exmination can also apply for this examination.

ALL OTHER CANDIDATES WHO HAVE PRODUCE THEIR MATRICULATION AND 10+2 PASS OR EQUIVALENT CERTIFICATES IN ORIGINAL AT THE TIME OF ATTENDING THE SSB INTERVIEW AND HAVE GOT THE SAME VERIFIED BY THE SSB AUTHORITIES ARE NOT REQUIRED TO SUBMIT THE SAME TO ARMY HQ OR NAVAL HQ AS THE CASE MAY BE. In exceptional cases the Commission may treat a candidate, who does not possess any of the qualifications prescribed in this rule as educationally qualified provided that he possesses qualifications, the standard of which in the opinion of the Commission, justifies his admission to the examination.

NOTE 1 : Candidates appearing in the 11th class exam are not eligible for this examination.

NOTE 2 : Those candidates who have yet to qualify in the 12th class or equivalent examination and are allowed to appear in the UPSC Examination should note that this is only a special concession given to them. They are required to submit proof of passing the 12th class or equivalent examination by the prescribed date (i.e. 5th December 2010) and no request for extending this date will be entertained on the grounds of late conduct of Board/University Examination, delay in declaration of results or any other ground whatsoever.

NOTE 3 : Candidates who are debarred by the Ministry of Defence from holding any type of commission in the Defence Services shall not be eligible for admission to the examination and if admitted, their candidature will be cancelled.

NOTE 4 : Those candidates who have failed INSB/PABT earlier are not eligible for Air Force.

(d) Physical Standards :
Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I), 2010 as per guidelines given in Appendix-V.

(e) A candidate who has resigned or withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any of the training academics of Armed Forces is not eligible to apply.


APPLICATION FORM :
Candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examination, which can be purchased from the Designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 20/- (Rupees Twenty only). Each such form can be used only once and only for one examination.

In case of any difficulty in obtaining Application Forms from the designated HPOs/POs, the candidates should immediately contact the concerned post Master or UPSC's "FORMS SUPPLY MONITORING CELL" over Telephone No. 011-23389366/FAX No. 011-23387310.

Candidates are advised to read carefully the "Instructions for filling up the Application Form" given in Appendix-II of this notice.

LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS :
All applications must reach the "Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi - 110069" either by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the 16th November 2009.

Candidates should note that applications will be received by hand, only one at a time, at the designated counter(s) and not in bulk, till 5 PM only.

However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities specified in para 6 of this Notice the last date for receipt of application by Post/Speed Post only (not by Hand or by Courier) is 23rd November 2009.

PENALTY FOR WRONG ANSWERS:
Candidates should note that there will be penalty (negative marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.

The University Grants Commission (UGC),National Eligibility Test (NET)


Award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and eligibility for Lectureship

The University Grants Commission (UGC) announces holding of the National Eligibility Test (NET) on 27th December, 2009 (Sunday) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and eligibility for Lectureship in Indian universities and colleges. UGC will conduct NET in 77 (seventy seven) subjects (listed under item no. 9) at 66 (sixty six) selected University Centres (listed under Item no. 10) spread across the country.

The result of the UGC-NET held on 28th June, 2009 and the one to be held on 27th December, 2009 will be made available on the UGC website : www.ugc.ac.in and shall also be published in the Employment News as and when it is declared. The candidates will not be individually intimated about their result. The candidates who qualify for the award of Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Lectureship. The universities, institutions, IITs and other national organizations may select the JRF awardees for whole time research work in accordance with the procedure prescribed by them. The award of JRF will depend on the performance of the candidate in all three papers of NET. However, the candidates qualifying exclusively for Lectureship will not be considered for award of JRF. Candidates appearing in NET should clearly specify in the prescribed Application Form whether they are applying for both JRF & eligibility for Lectureship OR only for eligibility for Lectureship. Candidates who qualify the Test for eligibility for Lectureship will be governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Lecturers of the concerned universities/colleges/state governments, as the case may be.

Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Visually Handicapped (VH)/ Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates will be given such special concessions as may be decided by the Commission.

2) JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP :
Candidates qualifying for the award of Junior Research Fellowship will be eligible to receive fellowship of UGC under various schemes, subject to finding their placement in universities/IITs/institutions. The validity period of the offer is two years w.e.f. the date of issue of JRF Award Letter. However, in case the candidates have already joined M.Phil/Ph.D., the date of commencement of fellowship shall be from the date of declaration of NET result or date of their joining, whichever is later.

3) CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY :
i) Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master's Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/ institutions recognised by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test. The Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Physically Handicapped (PH)/Visually Handicapped (VH) category candidates who have secured at least
50% marks (without rounding off) in Master's degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.

ii) Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Master's degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of JRF/Lectureship eligibility only after they have passed their Master's degree examination or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/PH/VH category candidates). Such candidates must complete their P.G. degree examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

iii) The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master's level examination had been completed by 19th September, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.

iv) Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their post-graduation
only. The candidates whose post-graduation subject is not covered in the list of
subjects in item No. 9, may appear in a related subject.

v) Candidates seeking concession in fee are required to submit attested copy of their OBC/SC/ST/PH/VH certificate along with their Application Forms. Other candidates are not required to submit any certificates/ documents in support of their eligibility alongwith the Application Form. Therefore, the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the Test. In the event of any ineligibility being detected by the Commission at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for legal action.

4) AGE LIMIT & RELAXATION :
i) Junior Research Fellowship : Not more than 28 years as on 01.12.2009. A
relaxation upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH/ VH categories and to women applicants.

Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates having research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant/related subject of post- graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on production of a certificate from appropriate authority.

Three years' relaxation in age will be permissible to the candidates possessing
L.L.M. Degree. Total age relaxation on the above ground(s) shall not exceed five
years under any circumstances.

ii) Lectureship : No upper age limit.


5) EXEMPTION (ELIGIBILITY FOR LECTURESHIP) :
i) NET/SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Lecturers in Universities/ Colleges/Institutions. Provided, however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D Degree in compliance of the "University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree), Regulation 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/ Colleges/ Institutions."

The candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from appearing in NET.

ii) For SET Candidates: The candidates who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Lectureship held prior to 1st June 2002, are exempted from appearing in NET, being eligible to apply for Lectureship anywhere in India. For SET held from 1st June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of lecturer only in the universities/ colleges belonging to the state from where they have cleared their SET. All SET qualified candidates are also eligible to appear in NET, if they so desire.


6) EXAMINATION FEE AND MODE OF PAYMENT :
For General candidates, the examination fee is Rs.450/-; for Other Backward Classes (OBC), the fee is Rs. 225/- and for SC/ ST/ PH/ VH candidates, it is Rs. 110/-. The fee should be paid in the form of a single crossed demand draft from any Government of India Bank/Scheduled Government Bank payable at their Service Branch, New Delhi/Delhi only with six months' validity drawn in favour of the Secretary, U.G.C., New Delhi. Fee once paid, will not be refunded under any circumstances.

7) SCHEME AND DATE OF TEST : th
(i) The Test will consist of three papers. All the three papers will be held on 27th December, 2009 in two separate sessions as under :

Paper I For 100 Marks - 09.30 A.M. to 10.45 A.M
Paper II For 100 Marks - 10.45 A.M. to 12.00 NOON
Paper III For 200 Marks - 01.30 P.M. to 04.00 P.M



Paper-I shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. UGC has decided to provide choice to the candidates from the December 2009 UGC-NET onwards. Sixty (60) multiple choice questions of two marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any fifty (50). In the event of the candidate attempting more than fifty questions, the first fifty questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated

Paper-II shall consist of short questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each of these papers will consist of a Test Booklet containing 50 objective type questions of two marks each. The candidate will have to mark the response for each question on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet provided along with the Test Booklet. The detailed instructions for filling up the OMR Sheet will be sent to the candidate along with the Admit Card.

Paper-III will consist of only descriptive questions from the subject selected by the candidate. The candidate will be required to attempt questions in the space provided in the Test Booklet. The format of Paper-III has been revised w.e.f. June,2005 UGC-NET and is available on the UGC website www.ugc.ac.in.

The final qualifying criteria for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Eligibility for Lectureship shall be decided by UGC before declaration of result.

ii) Negative Marking in Paper-I & Paper-II : Negative marking at the rate of 25% has been introduced from December 2009 UGC-NET onwards. For each incorrect answer, 0.5 marks shall be deducted.

iii) For Visually Handicapped (VH) candidates thirty minutes' extra time shall
be provided separately for paper-I and Paper-II. For paper-III, forty five minutes' extra time shall be provided. They will also be provided the services of a scribe who would be a graduate in a subject other than that of the candidate. Those Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates who are not in a
position to write in their own hand-writing can also avail these services by making prior request (at least one week before the date of UGC-NET) in writing to the centre Co-ordinator. Extra time and facility of scribe would not be provided to other Physically Handicapped candidates.

iv) Syllabus of Test: Syllabi for all NET subjects can be downloaded from the UGC Website www.ugc.ac.in and are also available in the libraries of all Indian universities. UGC will not send the syllabus to individual candidates.

v) In Paper III, candidate has the option to answer either in Hindi or in English in all subjects except the languages where the candidate is required to write in the concerned language only. In case of Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science and Environmental Sciences, the
question papers will be in English only.

vi) In case of any discrepancy found in the English and Hindi versions, the questions in English version shall be taken as final.


8) IMPORTANT :
i) The national level Test for determining the eligibility of candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowship/Lectureship in science subjects (Chemical Sciences; Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean & Planetary Sciences; Life Sciences; Mathematical Sciences; Physical Sciences) is conducted jointly with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. The candidates in science subjects, desirous of availing UGC-JRF or obtaining eligibility for Lectureship in these subjects are advised to appear in the Joint CSIR-UGC Test for Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Lectureship conducted by CSIR. ii) The UGC-NET for JRF/eligibility for Lectureship will be held at the University Test Centres specified in the list under item No. 10. PLEASE NOTE THAT CHANGE OF CENTRE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

11) GUIDELINES FOR FILLING UP THE APPLICATION FORM
i) Candidate seeking admission to the Test must apply in the prescribed Application Form in DUPLICATE as given in the Notification. Application Form may be neatly typed or photocopied on white paper (A-4 size) on one side of the paper only. The application not in the prescribed format will be rejected. Request for Application Form from UGC will not be entertained.

ii) The Candidate should fill the Application Form legibly and carefully in their own handwriting with ballpoint pen. TWO COPIES OF THE APPLICATION FORM ALONGWITH ADMISSION CARD, ATTENDANCE SLIP AND DEMAND DRAFT SHOULD BE SENT TO THE REGISTRAR OF THE UNIVERSITY FROM WHERE THE CANDIDATE HAS OPTED TO APPEAR FOR THE TEST. APPLICATIONS ADDRESSED TO UGC OFFICE WILL NOT BE ENTERTAINED.

The envelope containing the Application Form should be superscribed "UGC NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY TEST FOR JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP AND ELIGIBILITY FOR LECTURESHIP, DECEMBER, 2009"

iii) The candidates must affix their recent passport size photographs from the
same negative at the places indicated in the Application Form and must sign across the photograph after it is affixed so that a part of the signature spreads over the Application Form beyond the photograph. Besides, it should be duly attested by the Head of the University Department/Principal of the College/Class-I Gazetted Officer.

iv) In Column-7, Write M for Male and F for Female.

v) In Column-8, Write GEN for General, SC for Scheduled Caste, ST for Scheduled Tribe and OBC for Other Backward Classes.

vi) Fill up column 9 only if applicable. Write VH for Visually Handicapped and PH for Physically Handicapped.

vii) Candidates who have appeared and are awaiting their result or shall be appearing in the final year of Master's degree examination should fill up the Attestation Form given at the bottom of the Application Form and get it attested by the Head of the Institution. They should also mention the
University Name to which the College/ Institute is affiliated.

12) GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
i) The candidates must read the conditions of eligibility as given at item no. 3 carefully and must satisfy themselves regarding their eligibility for the Test before submitting the Application Forms.

ii) Candidates will be issued the Admission Card by the respective Test Centres. Candidates should note that their candidature is strictly provisional. The mere
fact that Admission Card has been issued to any candidate shall not imply that the Commission has finally accepted his/her candidature.

iii) UGC may change the centre(s) or date of examination without assigning any reason.


iv) Applications received after the last date will not be entertained.

iv) No TA will be paid to the candidates.

v) Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate.


vi) The decision of the Commission shall be final in all matters.

vii) All legal disputes pertaining to this Test shall fall within the jurisdiction of Delhi Courts only.


ix) Candidates should correspond only with their respective Test centres for
Admission Card or any other relevant information. UGC will not entertain
any requests/queries in this regard.

x) The use of calculators or Log Tables is not permitted. Cellular phones, pagers
etc. are not allowed in the Examination Hall/Room.

xi) A candidate who does not appear in paper-I, will not be permitted to appear in
paper-II and paper-III.


xii) Candidates will not be allowed to write any question from the Test Booklet on
the Admission Card or on any other paper.

xiii) Those candidates who do not receive their Admission Card (Roll Number) for
appearing in the UGC-NET till 23rd December, 2009, are advised to contact the office of Registrar/Co-ordinator of their UGC-NET Centres from 24th to 26th December, 2009, with two identical passport-size photographs duly attested by a gazetted officer. No Admission Card (Roll Number) will be
issued on the day of the Test (i.e. 27th December, 2009) under any circumstances.


xiv) The descriptive papers, i.e., Paper-III of language subjects must be
answered in the concerned language only.

13) ENCLOSURES TO BE SENT WITH THE APPLICATION

Candidates should send the following documents with their application:-
i) A crossed Bank Draft towards examination fee payable to Secretary, University Grants Commission, New Delhi. Candidates should mention their name, Subject
Code and Centre Code on the reverse of the Demand Draft.

ii) SC/ST/Visually Handicapped/ Physically Handicapped/ OBC certificates, in case applicable, duly attested by a Gazetted Officer.


iii) Two self addressed unstamped envelopes of 10" X 4" size.


14) CHECK LIST
The candidates are advised to check the following points carefully before submission of application:-

i) Whether they fulfil the eligibility conditions for the Test as prescribed under
the heading 'CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY' and 'AGE LIMIT'.

ii) Whether they have filled all the columns of the Application Form correctly.

iii) Whether they have filled the name of the subject and centre as well as their codes in columns 3 and 4 respectively.

iv) Whether they have filled their CATEGORY in Column 8 in words, viz.,GEN/ SC/ ST/ OBC correctly.

v) Whether VH/PH candidates have filled Column 9 correctly. Only VH/PH candidates have to fill this column and the others have to leave it blank.

vi) Whether they have signed the Application Form and Attendance Slip.

National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I) – 2010

The Union Public Service Commission will hold the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I), 2010 on 18th April, 2010 for admission to Army, Navy and Air Force Wings of NDA for 125th Course and Naval Academy for 45th 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course commencing from 30th December, 2010. :

CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY

(a) Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status:

Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd January, 1992 and not later than 1st July, 1994 are eligible.

(b) Educational Qualifications:

(i) For Army Wing of National Defence Academy: - 12th Class pass of 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for 10+2 (Executive Branch) Course of Naval Academy:- 12th Class pass of the10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics, conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

Candidates who are appearing in 12th Class under 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this Examination.

(c) Physical Standards:

Candidates must be physically fit according to the physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (I), 2010 as given in Appendix-V of Commission's Notice for the Examination published in Employment news/Rozgar Samachar
dated 17th October, 2009.

APPLICATION FORM :

The Candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices (specified in Appendix-lll of the Notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs.20/-
(Rupees twenty only). Each such Form can be used only once and only for one examination.

In case of any difficulty in obtaining Application Forms from the designated HPOs/POs, the candidates should immediately contact the concerned Post Master or UPSC's "FORMS SUPPLY MONITORING CELL" over Telephone No.011- 23389366/Fax No.011- 23387310.

FEE : Rs.50/- (Rupees fifty only) through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only. SC/ST candidates are exempted from payment of Fee. (OBC candidates are required to pay full fee).

Address and last date for receipt of applications :

All applications must reach the "Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi- 110069" either by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the 16th November, 2009.

However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities specified in the Notice the last date for receipt of applications by Post/Speed Post only (not by Hand or by Courier)is 23rd November, 2009.
