Indian maritime university announces admission to diploma in nautical science leading to B.Sc (nautical science) programme for February 2010 batch. This course is aimed at orienting the cadets for the equivalent life at sea by providing vocationally oriented education and training so as to help them become officers in the merchant navy.
Selection procedure: Candidates will be selected on the basis of common entrance test which will be held on 20th Dec, 2009 (Sunday) 10 am-1 pm.
Last date for submission of application: 8th December, 2009

The candidates who were declared qualified in the common entrance test during June 2009 and not attended counseling may register by sending details on plain paper indicating the name, roll number, rank, address, telephone number before 8th December 2009
The prospectus can be obtained from IMU on weekdays (working hours) on payment of Rs. 800/- (Rs 450/- for SC/ST candidates) by way of demand draft drawn in favour of Indian Maritime University, payable at Chennai from 18th November, 2009 or can be downloaded from www.imu.tn.nic.in.
The filled in application form should reach in an envelope superscribed ‘application form for diploma in nautical science leading to B.Sc. (nautical science)’ to the head (nautical science), IMU, Chennai on or before 8th December, 2009.
Applications received after 08.12.2009 will not be entertained

Admission in Doctoral programme Ph.D.
Applications are invited from the eligible candidates for admission to doctoral (PhD) programmes in Manav Rachna International University as per UGC (minimum standards and procedure for awards of M.Phil/Ph.D degree) regulations, 2009 dated 01.06.2009 published in the gazette of India dated 11th July, 2009.
Main features of the programme are as under
Total capacity – faculty of engineering and technology (148), faculty of management studies (28), faculty of business administration and computer applications (14), faculty of applied sciences (10), faculty of media studies (6)
Entrance test for all candidates is mandatory and shall be held in the university campus. Entrance test shall have the following format
a. General Mental Ability Test – 40 questions, 2 marks each
b. Basic Statistics, 10 questions, 2 marks each
c. Communication skills, 10 questions, 2 marks each
Short listed candidates not more than 3 times of the seats available shall be required to appear for an interview (30 marks)
Final merit list shall be prepared based upon aggregate marks obtained in entrance test and interview
All successful candidates shall be required to undergo Course-work comprising research methodology (3 credits), quantitative methods and computer applications (3 credits), Literature review/survey (self study) – 3 credits, subject based upon research problem (3 credits). Minimum GPA of 6.5 is mandatory for proceeding for research work
