Post Diploma in Thermal Power Plant Engineering (2010-11)
Fulfilling the mandatory requirements of Indian Electricity Rules, 1956, amended in 1981

Why you should Join? The main aim of the course is to develop a pool of technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the Indian Power Sector. The course improves and enhances the knowledge and skill of the diploma engineers sponsored by the power utilities.

About the course: This course is of one year duration (2 semesters) and covers all aspects of Operation and Maintenance of Thermal Power Plants. Formal coaching shall be held at the regional institute of NPTI, located at Durgapur (west Bengal). On-job training is conducted at the nearby Power Stations. The course authorizes the diploma holders to operate or undertake maintenance of any part or whole of generating station of capacity 100 MW and above together with the associated sub-stations.

Eligibility: Three years diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent from a recognized technical board of the state with minimum of 60% marks with I class/I grade (55% marks for reserved categories)

Selection procedure: As per merit (% of marks in diploma)

Age limit: 27 years as on 01.01.2010. No age limit for sponsored candidates.

Total seats: 50 (fifty) provisional. Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Physically challenged and other categories is applicable as per govt. of India norms for non-sponsored candidates. The seats may be increased as per discretion of NPTI. 25% seats are reserved for sponsored candidates from power utilities having more than one year experience and more than 65% marks in diploma with class I/I grade.

Placement: NPTI maintains close linkage with Power Utilities for employment of non-sponsored candidates only. NPTI will not make any efforts for placement of sponsored candidates.

Attach attested copies of proof of item no 8, 11, 12, 13, 14 along with following documents: diploma/provisional diploma certificate, document from candidate’s board/ institution stating equivalence of grades with percentage of marks, in case of gradation system, document from candidate’s board/institution stating basis of diploma percentage to be on which years/semesters percentages, if it is not clearly mentioned in mark sheets. Caste and caste validity certificates for SC/ST/OBC candidates, non creamy layer certificate in central government format to be additionally produced by OBC candidates. Fees: For non-sponsored candidates Rs 75,000/- (in two installment), for sponsored candidates Rs. 1,00,000/- payable in lumpsum at the time of admission. There is no fee concession for any category of candidates. Refundable security of Rs. 2500/- and Rs. 3000/- as transport charges for visit to power stations and industries are payable separately at the time of admission.

Fees for candidates from foreign countries: SAARC countries – US $ 6000/-, other countries – US $ 7000/-

Lodging/boarding: Hostel charges of Rs. 21,600/- per annum (@ Rs 1800/- per month) per participant to be paid in two installments. Separate hotel facility for girls available. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
(i) A candidate, who holds MBBS degree from a recognized medical college or a foreign medical degree included in the schedules of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 and who has obtained full registration either from the Medical Council of India (MCI) or from any of the State Medical Councils after completing compulsory rotating internship shall be eligible to take this examination.

(ii) However, a candidate who after passing the final qualifying examination (MBBS or the foreign medical degree recognized by MCI), is undergoing 12 month compulsory rotating internship and is likely to complete the same by 31st March, 2010 can take up this examination. The candidate must produce a certificate from the head of institution that he/she will be completing internship by 31st March, 2010. But he/she will not be eligible for admission unless he/she has completed the compulsory rotating internship and obtained full registration on or before 31st March, 2010.

(iii) The cut off dates for the recognition of the Medical Colleges for the year 2010 will be 31st October 2009. The colleges recognized after this date will not be considered.

METHOD OF SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION
(i) A candidate seeking admission to the Entrance Examination is required to send his/her application in the prescribed format which can be downloaded from our website www.hihtuniversity.org.
(ii) The candidate should fill in the application form in his/her own handwriting (in capital letters) clearly and legibly.
(iii) Furnishing of false information or suppression of material information in the application form will entail disqualification and shall render the candidate unfit for admission. If ineligibility is detected at any stage, the candidature/admission will be treated as cancelled and no further correspondence in this regard will be entertained. Further, the intimation in this regard will be sent to M.C.I. and concerned medical college for necessary action.
(iv) Incomplete application form will be rejected and no correspondence will be entertained by the University in this regard.
(v) It will be the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that the correct address is filled in the Application Forms. The University shall not be responsible for any loss in transit or for incorrect address given by the applicant in the Application Form.
(ix) Application form complete in all respect alongwith a Demand draft for Rs. 1500/- (rupees one thousand five hundred only) should be sent to the Controller of Examination, HIHT University, Swami Rama Nagar, Doiwala, Dehradun 248140 (Uttarakhand) by speed post/registered post or deposited by hand at the office of the Controller of Examinations. Application received after the prescribed last date will be rejected.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION

(i) There will be one paper of 3 (three) hours duration containing 250 Multiple Choice Questions consisting of all the subjects of MBBS curriculum.

(ii) The questions will be single response objective type. For each correct response a candidate shall be awarded four marks. One mark will be deducted for every wrong response. Zero mark will be given for the questions not attempted. More than one answer indicated against a question will be considered as incorrect response and will attract one negative mark.

(iii) The tentative number of questions from each subject will be as given below:-

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should have successfully passed all year of their MBBS/BDS from an institution recognized by the MCI/DCI and must have completed/completing their internship by 30th April 2010

MCI / DCI Norms:

Every student, selected for admission to the Post Graduate medical / dental course in any of the medical / dental institutions in the country, shall possess recognized M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. degree or equivalent qualification and should have obtained permanent registration with the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India, or any of the State Medical / Dental Council or should obtain the same with in one month from the date of admission, failing which the admission of the candidate shall be cancelled.

Provided that in the case of a foreign national, the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India may, on payment of the prescribed fee for the registration, grant temporary registration for the duration of the Post Graduate training restricted to the college / institution to which the applicant is admitted for the time being exclusively for Post Graduate studies; Provided further, that temporary registration to such foreign national shall be subjected to the condition that such person is duly registered as medical practitioner in his own country from which the applicant has obtained his / her basic medical / dental qualification and that his / her degree is recognized by the corresponding Council or concerned authority.

As per the Post Graduate Regulation 2000 of Medical Council of India, the minimum percentage of marks in the entrance test (COMEDK PGET-2010) for eligibility for admission to Post Graduate Courses shall be __ for General Category candidates and __ for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes (OBC as declared by Government of Karnataka from time to time).

As specified by the Dental Council of India, the minimum percentage of marks in the entrance test (COMEDK PGET-2010) for admission to Post Graduate Dental courses shall be 50% for all the candidates (Reference: DCI. Letter No. DE 14-2004/1135 dated 05 May 2004).

Rank list / Rank Card will be prepared only for those students who become eligible for admission to Post Graduate Courses as per the Medical Council of India or Dental Council of India Regulations.

About COMEDK PGET 2010 Test

The Entrance Test COMEDK PGET-2010 is mandatory for all candidates seeking admissions to Member Institutions of COMEDK. A merit / rank list is generated based on the candidate's scores in COMEDK entrance test.

As part of our test process, to ensure fairness to the merited students and to eliminate fraudulent attempts, it is planned to use Biometrics (Fingerprinting) at various stages of the process and this would be done at the discretion of COMEDK

ELIGIBILITY FOR MASTER PROGRAMME - MANAGEMENT
MFM (Master of Fashion Management)
A three years Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities or Diploma in Accessory / Fashion Design / FIT from NIFT only. For foreign Bachelor’s Degree, not recognised by the Association of
Indian Universities, proper certification by a National Body constituted in the country concerned for granting equivalence will have to be produced.

ELIGIBILITY FOR MASTER PROGRAMME - TECHNOLOGY
M.FTech. (Master of Fashion Technology)
B.E. / B.Tech. (Textiles / Apparel / Mechanical / Industrial Production / Electronics / Computer / Information Technology)

Candidates appearing for their qualifying examinations can also apply. Their admission, however, will be provisional and subject to obtaining the defined eligibility by 30th June, 2010. Proof of the candidates having successfully passed the qualifying examination will have to be produced at the time of joining the programme. Compartment cases as on date of admission will not be considered for admission. In case, candidates do not produce the required documents by 30th June, 2010, their admission will be cancelled and 50% of the tuition fee will be refunded.

Non fulfilment of the above conditions will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.

Candidates having additional industry experience in the relevant fields would be preferred.

FOREIGN NATIONALS / SAARC / NRI
Fifteen percent (15%) of total seats on supernumerary basis in each discipline are reserved for admission of Foreign Nationals whether residing in India or abroad, applicants from SAARC countries and Non Resident Indian as specified in the Income Tax Act, 1961. The admission to NIFT programmes for foreign nationals / SAARC / NRI candidates will be based only on the written examination. The written examination of the candidates applying under this category is normally conducted in the premises of the Indian Embassy / Mission of the respective country.

The candidates selected under this quota will be required to pay Rs. 3,60,000/- as Fee for each academic year consisting of two semesters and would need to obtain a valid residential permit or student visa for the prescribed duration of the programme.

Procedure for applying under foreign nationals / SAARC / NRI category:
• Candidates seeking admission under this category should apply in the prescribed Application Form.
• The duly filled in Application should accompany the following documents:
1) An attested copy of the relevant pages of the passport containing details of the applicant.
2) An attested copy of proof of status of NRI / SAARC / foreign national.
3) A Demand Draft of US$ 100 in favour of NIFT, New Delhi payable at New Delhi.

Application Process
. The Prospectus can be obtained by hand from selected branches of AXIS BANK across the country on payment of Rs. 250/- (the list of selected branches is available on NIFT website). Prospectus can also be obtained from any of the NIFT centres by hand for Rs. 250/-or by post on payment of Rs. 350/- by way of demand draft in favour of NIFT payable at New Delhi. Application Fee
Candidates belonging to General/OBC Category are required to submit a Demand Draft for Rs.1000/- drawn in favour of 'National Institute of Fashion Technology' payable at New Delhi, alongwith the NIFT Application Form filled-in manually.

Candidates (General/OBC Category) applying online are required to submit a Demand Draft for Rs.1,250/- alongwith the print-out of the filled-in online NIFT Application Form.

Candidates belonging to SC/ST or Person with Disabilities Category are required to submit a Demand Draft for Rs.500/- drawn in favour of 'National Institute of Fashion Technology' payable at New Delhi, along with the NIFT Application Form filled-in manually. Candidates (SC/ST/PHP Category) applying online are required to submit a Demand Draft for Rs.750/- alongwith the print-out of the filled-in online NIFT Application Form.

All eligible candidates will have to appear for a written entrance examination at the Examination Centres opted by them. The written entrance examination is designed to test the knowledge, skill and aptitude of the candidates for the programme opted.
The objective type tests are subject to negative marking. The negative marking
will apply at the rate of 0.25 for each wrong answer.

PhD Application Form
Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) has major research programs in Disease Biology & Molecular Medicine as well as Plant Biotechnology & Discovery. Applications are invited from Postgraduates in Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Biotechnology, Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences for our PhD program, currently affiliated to University of Kerala.


General category applicants must have First Class or above throughout and a valid Research Fellowship from UGC/CSIR/ICMR/KSCSTE or Category A of DBT and should be less than 28 years of age as on June 1 of 2010.

SC/ST candidates with a valid fellowship need to have only 50% marks, will be eligible for age relaxation as per rules, and are exempt from processing fees.

Completed applications along with the required fees may be submitted to the undersigned on or before December 14, 2009.
