Admission notice for MBBS/BDS/BAMS/B.Pharm courses-2010

The Banaras Hindu University will hold All India Competitive written test for admission to MBBS course (84 seats) in two stages PMT-2010 screening and PMT-2010 main, and for BDS (38 seats), BAMS (78 seats) and B.Pharm (33 seats) courses in one stage PMT-2010 screening.

PMT-2010 screening shall be held on Wednesday, the 12th May 2010 at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad centres, to screen candidates for eligibility to appear in PMT-2010 main examination for MBBS course which will be held on Sunday, the 13th June 2010 at Varanasi centre only.

For BDS/BAMS/B.Pharm courses, candidates will be selected on the basis of their merit in the PMT-2010 screening only.

Eligibility

Qualification: Passed intermediate, 10+2 or equivalent examination in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany) taken together, (i) for MBBS/BDS/BAMS – a minimum of 50% for General, OBC and respective PC candidate and 40% aggregate marks for SC/ST and respective PC candidates, (ii) for B.Pharm – a minimum of 60% marks for General, OBC and respective PC candidates and 55% aggregate marks for SC/ST and respective PC candidates. Candidates appearing in qualifying examination may also apply.

Distribution of seats: MBBS (84 seats), General – 42; OBC – 23; SC – 13 and ST – 06; BDS (38 seats), General -19, OBC – 10, SC – 06 and ST – 03, BAMS (78 seats), General – 36, foreign national – 03, OBC – 21, SC – 12, and ST – 06, B.Pharm (33 seats), General – 17, OBC – 09, SC – 05, ST – 02. Application form will be sent by speed/registered post. However, Institute will not be responsible for any loss or postal delay. The request for application form must include the name and address of the candidate, and full particulars of the enclosed DD/BC (write candidate’s name and address on the back of demand draft). Two self-addressed, preferably typed, white paper slips of 10 cm x 6 cm size must also accompany it. The envelop containing requisition for PMT application form should be super scribed ‘Request for application for PMT-2010, BHU’.

Last date of requisition for PMT form by post is Friday, the 19th February 2010.

Incomplete/non-cashable draft (under amount/unsigned/without bank code no & seal) shall not be accepted.

Eligibility Criteria : The applicant must be a citizen of India and should have passed the H.S.(10+2) or its equivalent examination. The general candidates must have to secure at least 50.00% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology taken together (40.00% for SC/ST candidates) and at least 30.00% marks in English (for all categories). Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in 2010 will be allowed to sit for JEM-2010 provisionally and their admission, if merit listed, will be subjected to satisfying the minimum requirements of eligibility as specified above.

Age Restriction:Candidates must be 17 (seventeen) years of age or above as on 31.12.2010. There is no upper age limit except for the Marine Engineering course for which the upper age limit is 25 years as on 31.07.2010.

Residential Requirements: Candidates desirous of seeking admission to Government Engineering / Technology Colleges, Govt. Medical and Dental Colleges as well as to Private Medical and Dental Colleges, must have been residing in the State of West Bengal continuously at least for last 10 (ten) years as on 31.12.2009 or their parents must be permanent resident of West Bengal having their permanent home addresses in the State of West Bengal.

Reservation :Reservation for SC/ST/PC candidates are as per State Govt. Rules.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT:
Stipend Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 24,000 per month, Teaching Assistantship upto Rs.11,000 per month as per rules, computer grant, fieldwork grant, contingency grant of Rs. 20,000 per year. Full support for upto three international conference attendance anywhere in the world.

The last date of receipt of requests for the application form by post is January 08, 2010.

Completed application Form ($) together with a Demand Draft of Rs. 300/- in favour of Indian Institute of Management Calcutta should reach the Administrative Officer (FPR) at the aforesaid address on or before January 25,2010.

A candidate can apply to a maximum of two areas (with only one demand draft of Rs. 300/-).

There is no application fee for SC/ST applicants who submit an attested copy of SC/ST Certificate.
