CSIR will hold the Joint CSIr-UGC Test 20th June, 2010 for determining the eligibility of the Indian national candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) NET and for determining eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (NET) in certain subject areas falling under the faculty of Science. The award of Junior Research Fellowship (NET) to the successful eligible candidates will depend on their finding admission/placement in a university/national laboratory/institution of higher learning and research, as applicable


A candidate may apply either for ‘JRF + Lectureship’ both or for ‘Lectureship (LS) only’ He/She may indicate his/her preference in the O.M.R. Application Form/Online Application, as the case may be. CSIR may consider candidates applying for ‘JRF + LS’ for ‘Lectureship only’ depending on number of fellowships available and performance in the test subject to the condition that they fulfill the laid down eligibility criterion. If a candidate is found to be over-age for JRF (NET) he/she will automatically be considered for Lectureship (NET) only.

Two separate merit lists, one comprising the candidates qualifying for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF – NET) and the second of those candidates qualifying the Eligibility Test for Lectureship (NET), will be made on the basis of their performance in the above Test. Candidates qualifying for JRF (NET), will also be eligible for Lectureship (NET). The candidates qualifying for Lectureship will be eligible for recruitment as Lecturers as well as for JRF-ship in a Scheme/Project, if otherwise suitable as per the eligible criteria of that Scheme/Project. However, they will not be eligible for Regular JRF-NET Fellowship. They will be eligible to pursue Ph.D. programme with or without any fellowship other than JRF-NET. Candidates qualifying for the award of JRF (NET) will receive fellowship either from CSIR or UGC as per their assignment or from the Schemes with which they may find association. The candidates declared eligible for Junior Research Fellowship under UGC scheme will be governed by UGC rules/regulations in this regard.

The final result of this test may be declared sometime in the month of November/December 2010 and fellowship to successful candidates could be awarded from _______. The result of Paper-I of last December, 2009 NET held on 20.12.2009 has been declared and may be seen on CSIRr website

Subjects of the test
The test will be held in the subjects as given under

Chemical Science, Earth Atmospheric Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences

Education Qualification
M.Sc or equivalent degree under the subjects mentioned above, with minimum 55% marks for General and OBC candidates; 50% for SC/ST candidates, Physically and Visually Handicapped candidates and Ph.D. degree holders who had passed Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991.

A candidate can also apply for the Test under RA (Result Awaited) category, if he/she is appearing or has appeared in his/her final year (III/IV Semester where Semester system is there) of M.Sc. or equivalent degree examination in subjects mentioned in above during the academic session 2009-2010. Such candidates will have to submit the attestation format (given at the reverse of the application form) duly certified by the Head of the Deptt./Institute over his/her signature and rubber stamp (with address and name) from where the candidate is appearing or has appeared in the final year M.SC or equivalent degree examination. However, such candidates shall be admitted to the Test provisionally. They shall only be considered eligible for JRF-(NET)/LS-(NET), if they are able to produce the proof of having passed the Master’s Degree examination in the relevant or related subject with the requisite percentage of marks and within the stipulated time frame.

Age limit and relaxation
For JRF (NET): Minimum 19 years and maximum 28 years as on 01.07.2009 (upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years as in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, Physically handicapped/Visually handicapped and female applicants.

For LS (NET): Minimum 19 years as on 01.07.2010. No upper age limit.

Date and scheme of the CSIR UGC Test
The test will be held in two sessions on Sunday, the 20th June 2010. The scheme of Examination as under

Paper I, Marks – 200, Timings – 10.00 a.m.-12.30 p.m., Duration – 2-1/2 hrs

Paper II, Marks – 200, Timings – 2.00 p.m.-4.30 p.m., Duration – 2-1/2 hrs

Negative marking will be made for wrong answers in Paper I. Paper II will be evaluated only in case of those candidates who will be able to secure a minimum of such aggregate marks in Paper-I as may be fixed by the CSIR.

Candidates are required to appear in both the papers. A candidate who does not appear in Paper I will not be permitted to appear in Paper II. The questions in papers-I & II will appear both in Hindi and English.

Syllabus of the Test

Examination centres
The test will be held at 25 centres spread all over India, as specified below: Bangalore, Bhavnagar, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Nagpur, Pilani, Pune, Raipur, Roorkee, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur and Varanasi.

A candidate may opt for any of the above centres. No request for change of centre would ordinarily be granted. However, a request in writing for change of centre may be entertained on merits, if received in this unit latest by _______

How to apply
Option I: Apply through ‘Information Bulletin’

By hand: Candidates applying for the test may obtain the Information bulletin and application forms (inclusive of fee payable) through the branches of the Bank notified below in para 5.4 (within the prescribed dates) by paying the following fee in cash

General category: Rs. 400/-

OBC: Rs. 200/-

SC/ST/Physically or visually handicapped: Rs. 100/-

By Post: The Information bulletin and application form may also be obtained through Value Payable Post (VPP) from the Indian Bank, 3/1, West Patel Nagar, New Delhi-110008, by sending a crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 400/-. Rs. 200/- or Rs. 100/- (as the case may be) drawn in favour of ‘Indian Bank, West Patel Nagar, New Delhi’ payable at New Delhi. For this purpose, the candidate should send a request to the Bank with two self-addressed slips clearly mentioning the address at which he/she desires the Information Bulletin and application form to be sent by Value Payable Post (VPP). As above mentioned Bank will entertain the request for forms through post from Tuesday, the 25th August, 2009 to Wednesday, the 16th September 2009 only, hence, candidates are advised to send well in advance so as to reach their request within the above said period. The candidate should write his/her name, Date of Birth, address, date of Examination (20.12.2009) and subject code on the back of the Demand Draft so that it can be located easily, if it gets detached accidentally from the letter of request for supply of Information Bulletin. However, before attaching the draft with letter of request, the candidates should check that it bears the code number of the issuing bank and drawee bank and also amount and signatures of issuing authority.

Option II: Apply through online application

Interested and eligible candidates may apply for this test online through a link available at CSIR, HRDG website: www.csirhrdg.res.in. In order to apply Online the candidates are required to download Bank challan performa from the above website and then deposit the requisite examination fee in any of the Indian Bank branches through out the country. The examination fee for the online application is same as mentioned above. Candidates after successfully submitting application online are required to take print out of the application form, paste his/her recent black and white photograph, put his/her signature at the required space, attach requisite certificates an send along with CSIR marked copy of fee deposited bank challan in an envelop to Sr. Controller of Examinations, Human Resource Development Group, Examination Unit, CSIR complex, library avenue, Pusa, New Delhi-110012 so as to reach on or before 29.09.2009 (06.10.2009 for remote areas). Online applications with out hard copy or bank challan receipt of incomplete in any respect will be summarily rejected. Before applying Online, candidates are advised to go through detailed notification available at CSIR, HRDG website.

Examination fee paid along with the Information bulletin or through bank challan for a particular examination will neither be adjusted for any subsequent examination nor refunded under any circumstances. Similarly, candidates should also check all the column of bank challan, online application, which are to be filled in properly to avoid cancellation of application. Please note that fee submitted any other mode like money order, demand draft, IPO etc. will be summarily rejected.

The last date for submission of application form: The application form (through bank or online), duly completed with requisite enclosures should be sent under certificate of posting (UPC) to the Sr. Controller of Examinations, examination unit, Human Resource Development Group, CSIR Complex, Opposite Institute of Hotel Management, Library Avenue, Pusa, New Delhi-110012 so as to reach examination unit CSIR on or before 23.03.2010.

For candidates applying from Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Ladakh Division of J&K state, Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshdweep, the application form must reach the Controller of examination CSIR on or before 30.03.2010

The candidates are advised in their own interest to apply early enough to ensure timely receipt of their applications by the Examination unit on or before the closing date.

Application form received after closing date will be summarily rejected.

NOTE:
The admission for the candidates expecting to complete the qualifying examinations will be provisional and subject to scrutiny of papers, documents and eligibility conditions by production of original documents by 30th June, 2010. Proof of the candidates having successfully passed the qualifying examination will have to be produced at the time of joining the programme. In case, candidates do not produce the required documents by 30th June, 2010, their admission will be cancelled.

The final admission of a student shall be finalized only after scrutinity of satisfaction of the management to the fulfilling of all the eligibility conditions and subject to approval by affiliate authority. Non fulfillment of the above conditions will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.

SEATS
The seats are reserved for SC / ST / Physically Handicapped Candidates (PHP)/ Foreign Nationals/NRI in each programme.

Procedure for applying under foreign nationals / NRI category:
Candidates seeking admission under this category should accompany the following documents along with application form:
An attested copy of the relevant pages of the Passport.
Equivalent certificate from the concerned Embassy acknowledging the eligibility certificate of the candidate.
An attested copy of proof of status of NRI / foreign national.
A Demand Draft of US$ 75 in favor of Arch Educational Society, payable at Jaipur.

ADMIT CARD
Admit Card of eligible candidates will be available online by end January 2010. On such downloaded admit cards, the candidates are required to affix their photograph (similar to that affixed on the Application Form) on the downloaded Admit Card and get it attested by a Gazetted Officer / School or College Principal / Notary / Oath commissioner for producing at the Examination Centre.

ADMISSION TEST

All eligible candidates will have to appear for a written entrance examination at the Examination Centers opted by them. The written entrance examination is designed to test the knowledge, skill and aptitude of the candidates for the programme opted.

The written entrance examination will be conducted on at the cities mentioned below. The candidate can select only ONE city for examination centre and then the second preferred city.

Please note that ARCH reserves the right to cancel any of the Examination Centers mentioned. In such case, alternate centre which is administratively convenient will be allotted. Request for change of Examination Centre will not be entertained once the form is submitted.

POINTS TO REMEMBER
Any candidate who couldn't sit for the written examination because of the health grounds or any other unavoidable reason can submit an application on admission@archedu.org. The candidate will be taken into consideration as per the Management Decision and will be reverted back. Eligibility to appear in SEE-UPTU – 2010

1. For admission to first year to B.Tech/B.Pharm/BHMCT/BFAD candidate must have passed intermediate examination of U.P. Board or 10+2 level examination or its equivalent from any recognized board/university as given in information brochure of SEE-UPTU 2010. The candidate is essentially required to pass in each subject of the qualifying subject group.

2. For admission to first year of B.Arch., a candidate must have passed intermediate examination of U.P. board or 10+2 level examination or its equivalent from any recognized board/university; securing minimum 50% marks in aggregate in compulsory and optional subject as given in information brochure of SEE-UPTo 2010. The candidate is essentially required to pass in each subject of the qualifying subject group.

A candidate possession three year diploma in Architecture (10+3) recognized by central/state govt. is also eligible for admission to first year of B.Arch only, provided the candidate has passed the Diploma examination securing minimum 50% marks in aggregate. Such candidates will have to appear in the entrance examination for first year of B.Arch papers (paper 2 &6) as mentioned above

3. For admission to first year of MBA, candidate must have passed three years degree course from any recognized university

4. For admission to first year of MCA, candidate must have passed three year degree course from any recognized university with Mathematics at 10+2 level or at bachelor degree level.

5. For admission to second year (lateral entry) of B.Tech the candidate must have passed three years Diploma in engineering course; securing minimum 60% marks in aggregate or three years B.Sc degree with mathematics as one subject; securing minimum 60% marks in aggregate as per details provided in the brochure

6. For admission to second year (lateral entry) of B.Pharm the candidate must have passed Diploma in Pharmacy course; securing minimum 60% marks in aggregate

7. The candidates appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to appear in state entrance examination-2010 subject to the condition that they must fulfill the eligibility criteria at the time of counseling

8. The details of admissions for NRI and Kashmiri migrants will be published later, in the month of May, 2010 according to the norms to be laid down by the govt of UP/AICTE. Such candidates need not appear in SEE-UPTU-2010

9. State govt has permitted 10% of total sanctioned seats available in private institutions to be filled on merit by All India level candidates subject to the eligibility conditions given in the brochure through university counseling under the policy of state govt of UP

10. This admission test is open to the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from any institution located in UP or whose parents (father or mother) are domiciles of UP and 10% seats of All India level candidates as provided in sl no. 9 above

Cost of brochure/OMR application form inclusive of exam fee Rs. 1000/- for general/OBC candidates and Rs. 500/- for SC/ST and female candidates of all categories

The information brochure and OMR application form can also be obtained by post from Registrar, UP technical university, IET campus, Sitapur road, Lucknow-226021 by sending a MICR bank draft of Rs 1050/- for general/OBC and Rs 500/- for SC/ST and female candidates of all categories in favour of Finance officer, UP Technical university, Lucknow along with two self addressed stickers.

The request for supply of application form by post will not be entertained after 05.03.2010

OCCAM Summer Internship 2010 – OCCAM Mathematical Institute


The Oxford Centre for Collaborative Applied Mathematics (OCCAM) is offering internships to carry out short research projects in Oxford for a period of up to 10 weeks during the summer vacation. The bursaries are for mathematicians who are undergraduates in their middle years and those between their undergraduate degree and a Masters course, and provide an excellent opportunity to gain first hand research experience and find out whether you might be suited to a research career.

· In the middle years of an undergraduate degree, or between an undergraduate degree and a Masters degree;
· Able to commit to undertaking a research project over the summer vacation and be based in Oxford throughout its duration.
Awards: Each internship provides a bursary of £180 per week for the duration of the project, up to £200 for research expenses associated with the project and up to £500 for travel to Oxford. Interns will be given desk space and computing access in OCCAM and will receive assistance in finding accommodation. Should candidates of sufficient calibre apply, we anticipate making 4 or 5 appointments.

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) at S.A.S Nagar (Mohali) has been created as Centre of Excellence in imparting higher education, research and development in pharmaceutical sciences and is the first Institute of its kind in country. The Institute was declared as an Institute of National Importance by Government of India through an Act of Parliament, notified on 26th June 1998. The Institute is a member of the Association of Indian Universities and Association of Common wealth Universities.

Candidates should have a minimum CGPA of 6.75 (or 60% marks) for General, 6.25 (or 55% marks) for SC/ST, 5.75 (or 50% marks) for physically handicapped (PH) candidates on a 10 point scale in the qualifying examination and also have valid GPAT/GATE/NET qualification. (Percentage of marks or CGPA will be based on the norms of the concerned university/Institution or aggregate marks or CGPA scored by the candidate for all years of the qualifying degree, in case University/Institution has not prescribed any norm for calculating such percentage or CGPA). 5% of total numbers of seats are available for officially sponsored candidates from the Govt. Department /P.S.U./R&D organisation with minimum of 2 years experience. Valid GPAT/GATE/NET score (GPAT/GATE/NET score card of a candidate should be valid at the time of counselling/Group Discussion & interview) is essential
qualification for all disciplines (including M.B.A.) except for the following category of candidates:- (i)
Candidates holding B.V.Sc. /M.B.B.S./B.A.M.S. degree; (ii) Foreign nationals; (iii) NRI and their wards
category (in case of M.B.A (Pharm.) only; (iv) Sponsored candidates from Public/Private Sector
undertakings, Govt. Departments and Research and Development Organizations.

General Instructions:

. Details of eligibility, qualifications, availability of programmes, admission procedure and other

www.niper.gov.in/niperjee2010.html. Reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC/PH and Kashmiri Migrants
candidates will be as per Government of India norms.


. Candidates appearing for final qualifying examinations can also apply but they must
produce final result on the day of Counselling/Interview/GD failing which their candidature shall
be rejected.


. Information Brochure containing Application form can be obtained in person or by post from the
office of the Organizing Chairperson, NIPER-JEE 2010 on submission of non refundable Bank Draft of
Rs. 1000/-(Rs.500/- for SC/ST) payable at S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali)/Chandigarh in favour of “NIPER-JEE
2010” along with two duly typed self-addressed Slips with name (10 cms X 6 cms). ndian nationals
residing abroad and foreign nationals have to remit US$100 by bank draft payable to “NIPER-JEE 2010”.
Payment by cheque/postal order will not be accepted. Candidates desirous of obtaining information
brochure by post should clearly mention the name of the programme in the application and on the top of
the envelope carrying the request letter.


. The candidates will have to make their own arrangement for travel and boarding for attending
test/GD/Interview/Counselling.


. Completed applications on the prescribed OMR form should be sent to Organising Chairperson,
NIPER-JEE 2010, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, (NIPER), Sector 67,
S.A.S.Nagar (Mohali), Punjab, 160062, (through speed post/registered post) so as to reach him on or
before 21st June 2010. The Institute will not be responsible for any loss or postal delay. Applications
received after the due date will not be considered. No correspondence/ inquiry in this regard will be
entertained. The Institute shall not be held responsible for misplacement of any loose sheet.
Therefore, all the applicants are required to submit the application form properly tied together.
The attested copy of valid GPAT/GATE/NET score card only shall be sent with the application
form.

. A common written test for all disciplines of the Masters programme will be held on Sunday, the
11th July, 2010 at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Baroda, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Trivandrum and Varanasi. The centres may be altered if sufficient numbers of candidates do not register for a particular centre.

Engineering Agriculture and Medicine Common Entrance Test (EAMCET 2010)

1. Entrance Test:
1.1 A Common Entrance Test, designated as Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test – 2010 (EAMCET – 2010) of Andhra Pradesh will be conducted (as per G.O.Ms.No. 16 Edn.,(EC) Department Dt:25/2/2004 and its amendments) by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad for entry into the first year of the following professional courses offered for the academic year 2010-2011 in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
a) B.E/B.Tech courses
b) B.V.Sc and A.H/B.Sc(Ag)/B.Sc (Hort)/B.F.Sc/B.Tech
(FS&T)/B.Sc (CA&BM) courses
c) MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS/BNYS courses
d) B. Pharm/B.Tech (Bio-technology) and Pharm-D (Doctor of
Pharmacy) courses

2. EAMCET 2010 Eligibility
2.1 The minimum qualification to appear for EAMCET-2010 is
a) A pass in Intermediate Examination or appearance at 2nd year Intermediate Examination (10 + 2 pattern) conducted by the A.P. Board of Intermediate Education, with appropriate optional subjects or its equivalent thereto.
b) A pass at Diploma examination or appearance at final year Diploma Examination in Engineering conducted by the State Board of Technical Education and Training, A.P. or its equivalent thereto. Diploma candidates are eligible to apply for B.E/B.Tech/B.pharm courses only. Diploma in pharmacy are eligible to apply for Pharm-D course.

2.2 In case of such students who appear for the entrance Test, pending result of their qualifying examination, their entry shall be subject to their securing a pass in the said qualifying examination.


2.3 Candidates should belong to the State of Andhra Pradesh as defined in the A.P. Educational Institutions (regulations for admission) order 1974 and its amendments (vide G.O.P.No. 646 dt: 10-7-79 of Education (W) Department).

4. Requisition for the Application form:

Candidates with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry as optional subjects in their Intermediate or its equivalent course should submit “E” category application for Engineering (B.E/B.Tech/B.Tech (Ag.Engg) /B.Tech (Dairying)/ B.Tech (FS&T) (MPC) /B.Sc (CA&BM) (MPC) and B. Pharm (MPC),Pharm-D((MPC) courses.
Candidates with Biology, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects in their Intermediate or its equivalent course should submit “AM” category application for Agriculture (B.V.Sc., and A.H/B.Sc (Agr)/B.Sc (Hort)/B.F.Sc/B.Tech (FS&T) (Bi.P.C)/B.Sc (CA&BM) (Bi.P.C)/ Medical (MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS/BNYS) and B.Pharm/ B.Tech (Bio-Technology)/Pharm-D (Bi.P.C) courses.
Eligible candidates who intend to seek admission to both the courses in 4.1 and 4.2 have to submit “E” and “AM” category applications.
Application form together with the enclosures including the “Instruction Booklet” can be had in person (not by post) on payment of Rs. 250/- in cash (this amount covers the cost of application, fee for entrance test, and towards Service charges for Post offices) AT ALL THE HEAD POST OFFICES AND ALL e-SEVA CENTRES within the state of Andhra Pradesh till 15.4.2010.
5. As per G.O.Ms.No 165 dated 06-09-2007and G.O.Ms.No 8 (Amendment to the GO.Ms. No 16) Higher Education Department, dated 27-01-2009, the candidates who have secured qualifying marks in EAMCET and candidates belonging to the category of Scheduled Caste and Schedule Tribe, for whom qualifying marks have not been prescribed, shall be assigned ranking in the order of merit on the basis of combined score obtained by giving 75% weightage to the marks secured in EAMCET and 25% weightage to the marks secured in the relevant group subjects namely Mathematics or Biology, Physics, Chemistry of the qualifying examination. However as per G.O Ms No. 181 dated 21.05.2008 of Health Medical and Family Welfare(E1) Department for admission into MBBS/BDS courses on the basis of Competitive entrance examination, a candidate for admission to those courses must have obtained not less than 50% marks in physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together both at qualifying and EAMCET examination.. In respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST/BC must have obtained not less than 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together both at qualifying and EAMCET examination

10. The late fee and online submission application fee must be in the form of Demand Draft on any nationalized bank payable at Hyderabad, in favor of Secretary, Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education.

11. Filled in Application should be submitted to the Regional Coordinator in person as mentioned in the Instruction Booklet or to the Convener, EAMCET – 2010, SIT Building, Cellar portion, JNT University Hyderabad, Kukatpally, Hyderabad – 500 085 by Regd. Post.

12. In their own interest, candidates are advised to submit the application online or submit the filled in applications to the concerned regional co-ordinators in person only, or send it to the convener, EAMCET – 2010 by regd post well in advance, of the last date prescribed for submission of applications without late fee to avoid delays.
