Andhra University Research Common Entrance Test (AURCET 2010)


Full-time /Part-time M. Phil. and Full-time / Part-time / Extramural / Inter-disciplinary Ph.D. programmes

Andhra University announces for Research Common Entrance Test (AURCET 2010) for admission into research programmes offered in campus colleges, P.G centers, and recognized research centers in affiliated colleges and research organizations.
Directorate of Admissions, Andhra University will process admissions into Full-time /Part-time M. Phil. and Full-time / Part-time / Extramural / Inter-disciplinary Ph.D. programmes in the subject areas indicated in Admissions Brochure available at http://www.andhrauniversity.info , for the year 2010 as per the guidelines stipulated by the Board of Research Studies, Andhra University

Candidates having PG degree in Science or Arts Courses and seeking admission into Full Time M. Phil or Ph. D programmes must appear for the ENTRANCE TEST (AURCET-2010) conducted by the Directorate of Admissions. However, candidates with M. Phil or Professional post graduate degree in the respective subject or qualified in UGC-CSIR NET, ICMR, are exempted from the test. Eligible In-Service Candidates seeking admission into PART TIME programmes are also exempted from the test.

The P.G. Degrees of all U.G.C. recognized Universities in India will be treated as equivalent to P.G. Degrees of Andhra University. However, PG Degrees of other Universities obtained through distance mode should have been recognized by DEC.

M.Phil / M.Tech. / LLM / M.Pharm, degrees obtained through distance mode will not be considered for any purpose as equivalent to degrees obtained through regular study.

Candidates from outside the state of Andhra Pradesh seeking M.Phil. / Ph.D. (FT) admissions will be considered only when the list of eligible candidates from with in the state gets exhausted.

M.Phil and Ph.D admissions for candidates from foreign countries will be given as extra seats in concurrence with the DRC of respective departments and in consultation with International Student's Advisor. A separate fee structure will be adopted for such applicants.

Part Time M.Phil / Ph.D admissions will be given only to in-service candidates working in colleges and institutions / organizations recognized by Andhra University, satisfying the minimum required service and other prescribed conditions.

Money paid once towards registration fee / Late fee / Processing fee / Course fee will not be refunded.

All disputes pertaining to AURCET-2010 shall fall within the courts jurisdiction of Visakhapatnam only whether regular or consumer courts.

Candidates who have already appeared or appearing for the final semester or final year examinations of the qualifying degree in April / May - 2010 can also apply for AURCET-2010.

HOW TO APPLY:
1. Candidates are required to download the Application and Information brochure from the website: www.andhrauniversity.info/doa
2. Candidates have to submit applications in DUPLICATE along with a D.D. for an amount of Rs.500/- towards Registration fee drawn in favour of the Director, Directorate of Admissions, Andhra University on any Nationalised bank payable at Visakhapatnam.
3. Eligible candidates seeking admission must submit a Statement of Research Interest (SRI) in about 500 words in the respective field of research along with the application.
4. A candidate seeking admission in more than one programme (M. Phil / Ph. D) has to submit separate applications in duplicate. Similarly a candidate seeking admission in more than one department or center has to submit separate applications in duplicate with corresponding Statement of Research Interest (SRI)
5. The name and subject of the applicant should be written on the reverse side of the
D.D.
6. Application forms completed in all respects should reach the Director, Directorate
of Admissions, Andhra University, Vijayanagar Palace, Pedawaltair,
Visakhapatnam-530017 by Registered Post or in person on or before 26-04-2010,
5.00 p.m.

LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF FILLED-IN APPLICATIONS:
1. Applications received after 26-04-2010 will be treated as late applications and shall be accepted only on payment of late fee of Rs. 1000/- in addition to the Registration fee of Rs. 500/- through D.D. drawn in favor of the Director, Directorate of Admissions only till 30-04-2010.
2. Office of the Directorate of Admissions will not hold any responsibility for the non -receipt of applications sent by post or courier or late receipt of applications due to postal delay or for any reason whatsoever.
3. Applications received after 30-04-2010, as well as incomplete applications will be summarily rejected.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Research Programmes for the award of M. Phil or Ph. D degrees can be pursued in the Faculties of Arts, Law, Science, Engineering and Pharmaceutical Sciences by candidates possessing minimum qualifications prescribed under eligibility Criteria for admission into various faculties

FULL-TIME M. PHIL / Ph. D:
(a). Post-graduate degree holders with at least 55% of marks (50% in the case of SC/ST Candidates) or equivalent CGPA in the concerned subject as prescribed in eligibility criteria can apply for full-time M. Phil. / Ph.D. degree. They must appear for AURCET-2010
(b). Candidates qualified in UGC/CSIR-NET / ICMR (with fellowship) or possessing M.Phil. / M. L. or LLM / M. E. / M. Tech. / M. Pharmacy / M. S / M.D degree are exempted from AURCET-2010.

PART-TIME M. PHIL / Ph. D:
(a). In-Service candidates satisfying the above eligibility conditions can apply for part-time. Admission into part-time programmes will be made in the specified order of priority (Please see page - 5 - VI-2) with service seniority in each category.
(b). M. Phil. degree holders will be given priority in each category.
(c). In-Service candidates seeking admission into part-time programmes are exempted from AURCET-2010

Extramural:
> For admission into Ph.D. programme under Extramural category, the research institution where the candidate is working should have been recognized by A.U. and there should be an internal guide (Principal guide) recognised by A.U. from the same institution. Admission under Extramural category will be given for the following candidates.
> (a) Scientists with P.G. or equivalent degree working in research institutions recognized by Andhra University having at least two years of experience.
(b) Research scholars with P.G. or equivalent degree having fellowship attached to institutions recognized by Andhra University.
> Research Institutions /organizations recognized by Andhra University are given in Admissions Brochure

Inter-Disciplinary Research (IDR):
Candidates who wish to carry out research work relating to more than one discipline can be considered for registration for Ph.D. under 'Interdisciplinary' category. Such candidates should submit a 'Statement of Purpose' along with the admission application form. The statement may contain the objective, definition of the problem, proposed methodology and justification. The Statement of Purpose should also contain information on the disciplines involved and the post graduate degree possessed by the candidate. The same will be discussed in the Departmental Research Committee meetings of the concerned academic departments, for its scope and viability from scientific and logistic points of view, in which the major part of the research work needs to be carried out. The candidate will be registered in the discipline in which he/she has secured the qualifying degree.

Candidates who are admitted under this category will have the Principal guide from the department in which the candidate is registered and the co-guide(s) from the other disciplines involved. The Pre-Ph.D degree examination needs to be taken in the department where the candidate registers.

Candidates once admitted under this category under full-time or part-time will not be permitted to transfer their registration from one department to the other.

ENTRANCE TEST:
A. General:
1. Common Entrance test (AURCET-2010) for admission into Full time M. Phil & Ph.D programmes in various Science and Arts and some Engineering faculties will be conducted by the Directorate of Admissions in VISAKHAPATNAM only.
2. The test codes, the names of the departments and different M.Phil / Ph.D programmes offered along with the eligibility criteria are given in Annexure - I of the AURCET Information Brochure.
3. The Common entrance test (AURCET-2010) for each subject / department consists of two papers with multiple choice objective type questions.
4. Paper-I shall be of 45 minutes duration with 50 multiple choice questions for 50 marks. Paper-I is common for all Science and Engineering Subjects / Departments as the case may be. Similarly Paper-I is common for all Arts Subjects / Departments for 50 marks with 45 minutes duration. Paper-I of Science stream is different from Paper-I of Arts stream.
5. Paper-II shall be of 90 minutes duration with 100 multiple choice questions for 100 marks in the concerned subject for which the syllabus is given in Annexure-II. Paper-II will be different for each department.
6. Based on the number of seats available and the number of applications received, the University reserves the right to conduct or not to conduct the test.
7. Based on the eligibility criteria and the research interest of the candidate, he/she has to choose only one test for admission into that particular department. In case if a candidate wants to seek admission in more than one department (subject) he/she has to submit separate application and has to appear for separate tests in Paper-I and Paper-II depending on the case.

Those who obtain a minimum of 40% in Paper-I and Paper-II put together (35% in case of SC & ST candidates) only will be eligible for presentation of Statement of Research Interest (SRI) or interview. Those who do not obtain the above mentioned cutoff mark will not be considered for admission

Selection Process
The selection of candidates for admission to the P.G./M.Phil./Ph.D. programmes will be based on the marks obtained in the entrance examination only.
The NET/JRF qualified candidates with fellowships will be given direct admission to Ph.D. programmes.
The miimum cut off mark for general candidates in respect of Ph.D. and M.Phil. admission shall be half of the average of the entrance examination marks scored by all the candidates in the respective subject. The minimum cut of mark for OBC/SC/ST/Physicaly challenged candidates will be 10% below the cut off marks of the general catagory candidates.
For the purpose of working out the average, only 'O' and above will be taken into account, i.e. the negative marks, if any wil not be counted for working out the average of the entrance examination.

Mere appearance in the entrance examination does not entitle a candidate for admission to any course in this University and he/she will be granted admission only if he/ she fulfils the eligibility criteria fixed for the courses. Candidates are advised to take up the examination only if they satisfy the eligibility criteria. If the number of applications received is less than the prescribed intake, there will be no entrance test; admission will be granted based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

Admission Requirements for Ph.D. programmes
Ph.D. Full-time

For all Ph.D. (Full-time) programmes, the following categories of candidates are eligible to apply:
(a) Candidates should have qualified for their P.G. degree in the subject concerned with a minimum of 55% of marks or equivalent from a recognised
University under 10+2+3+2 system of study or an equivalent system recognised by this University.

Or

(b) Teacher candidates working in the institutions admitted to the privileges
of this University and other Universities provided they are qualified and granted leave for the required period by the competent authority.

Or

(c) Candidates with GATE or other similar qualifications employed in research projects in the University departments or recognized research institutions provided they possess the required educational qualifications.
The project assistants will also have to appear for the entrance examination
for admission to Ph.D.

Or

(d) The NET/ JRF qualified candidates with fellowships wil be given direct
admission to Ph.D. programmes. All other non-fellowship NET and GATE
qualified candidates will have to appear for the entrance examination.


Ph.D. Part-time (Internal)
(a) Teacher candidates working in Colleges/ University departments and such other institutions recognized by Pondicherry University and who have qualified for the Master's degree in their respective disciplines or a degree accepted as equivalent there to by Pondicherry University and obtained 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in their Post Graduate Degree and who have three years of continuous teaching experience at degree and / or post-graduate level in the subject concerned.

(b) Teacher candidates working in recognized schools and teaching at the
High School level, situated within the jurisdiction of PondicherryUniversity with a Master's degree in their respective disciplines or a degree accepted as equivalent thereto by the University and obtained 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in their post-graduate degree and who have put in 5 years of continuous teaching in the subject concerned.

(c) Non-teaching staff employed in a time scale of pay in this University
and other affiliated research institutions provided that

(i) the candidates possess required post-graduate degree as prescribed
by the Department concerned and obtained 55% marks (or and equivalent grade),
(ii) the candidate has at least 10 years of work experience of which at least
two years should be relevant to the field of research, proof of which to be
evidenced through two research papers published in standard journals
or
(iii) the candidate has at least 5 years of work experience with M.Phil. in the
subject concerned and published two research papers in standard journals in
the subject concerned.

Note : Candidates under the regulations of part-time (Internal) are prohibited from taking any remunerative assignments, nor can they join any other course of study without the prior approval of the Guide / Supervisor.

Ph.D. Part-time (External)
(a) Permanent employees of Academic Staff Colleges/ Universities / other educational institutions of higher learning / R&D Lab with at least 5 years of experience and with post-graduate qualification in the subject concerned and obtained 55% marks (or equivalent grade) are eligible for registering for Ph.D. Part-time (external).
(b) Employees with a minimum of ten years of experience in Government, local bodies, recognized institutes, Public Sector Undertakings and Non-Governmental Organizations who are academically qualified with 55% of marks (or equivalent grade) in their post-graduate degree are eligible for registering for Ph.D. provided the candidate has experience in the relevant field of research for at least three continuous years out of ten years of service and published at least two papers in standard journals in the subject concerned.

All the part-time internal as well as external candidates applying for admission to the Ph.D. programme should submit an outline proposal of the research to be conducted, giving sufficient background material and the proposed line of research. In case of candidates, working outside the University area, a local guide duly appointed by the University may be permitted in addition to the University guide.

CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY

i) Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test. The Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Physically Handicapped (PH)/Visually Handicapped (VH) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.


ii) Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of JRF/Lectureship eligibility only after they have passed their Master’s degree examination or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/PH/VH category candidates). Such candidates must complete their P.G. degree examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.


iii) The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.


iv) Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their post-graduation only. The candidates whose post-graduation subject is not covered in the list of subjects in item No. 9, may appear in a related subject.


v) Candidates seeking concession in fee are required to submit attested copy of their OBC(Non-creamy layer)/SC/ST/PH/VH certificate along with online print out of their Application Forms (obtained while applying on-line). Other candidates are not required to submit any certificates/documents in support of their eligibility alongwith print out of their Application Form. Therefore, the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the Test. In the event of any ineligibility being detected by the Commission at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for legal action.


vi) Candidates with post-graduate diploma/certificate course(s), should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their course(s) with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.


AGE LIMIT & RELAXATION :
i) Junior Research Fellowship : Not more than 28 years as on 01.06.2010. A relaxation upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PH/VH categories and to women applicants. Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates having research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant/related subject of post-graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on production of a certificate from appropriate authority. Three years’ relaxation in age will be permissible to the candidates possessing L.L.M. Degree. Total age relaxation on the above ground(s) shall not exceed five years under any circumstances.


ii) Lectureship : No upper age limit.


EXEMPTION (ELIGIBILITY FOR LECTURESHIP) :
i) NET/SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of Lecturers in Universities/Colleges/Institutions. Provided, however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D Degree in compliance of the “University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree), Regulation 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.” The candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from appearing in NET.


ii) For SET Candidates: The candidates who have cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) accredited by UGC for eligibility for Lectureship held prior to 1st June 2002, are exempted from appearing in NET, being eligible to apply for Lectureship anywhere in India. For SET held from 1st June 2002 onwards, the qualified candidates are eligible to apply for the post of lecturer only in the universities/ colleges belonging to the state from where they have cleared their SET. All SET qualified candidates are also eligible to appear in NET, if they so desire.

EXAMINATION FEE AND MODE OF PAYMENT :
For General candidates, the examination fee is Rs.450/-; for Other Backward Classes (Non-creamy layer) , the fee is Rs. 225/- and for SC/ST/PH/VH candidates, it is Rs. 110/-. The candidate is expected to fill the Bank Challan Form in triplicate (Bank Copy, UGC Copy & Candidate’s Copy) as given in the Notification. All the three copies of the Challan Form have to be submitted in any branch of State Bank of India along with the bank charges (commission) of Rs.20/-. The bank will retain one copy and return two copies of the challan to the candidate. The candidate has to attach the UGC copy of the challan with the printout of online Application Form which he/she has to submit to the Registrar of UGC-NET Centre opted by the candidate. Please note that fee submitted by any other mode like money order, demand draft, IPO etc. will be rejected. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.

SCHEME AND DATE OF TEST :

i) The Test will consist of three papers

Paper-I shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. UGC has decided to provide choice to the candidates from the December 2009 UGC-NET onwards. Sixty (60) multiple choice questions of two marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any fifty (50). In the event of the candidate attempting more than fifty questions, the first fifty questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated.


Paper-II shall consist of questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each of these papers will consist of a Test Booklet containing 50 compulsory objective type questions of two marks each. The candidate will have to mark the response for question of Paper-I and Paper-II on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet provided alongwith the Test Booklet. The detailed instructions for filling up the OMR Sheet will be sent to the candidate along with the Admit Card.


Paper-III will consist of only descriptive questions from the subject selected by the candidate. The candidate will be required to attempt questions in the space provided in the Test Booklet. The structure of Paper-III has been revised from June,2010 UGC-NET and is available on the UGC website www.ugc.ac.in . Paper-III will be evaluated only for those candidates who are able to secure the minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I and Paper-II, as per the table given in the following:

How to Apply?
Candidate seeking admission to the Test must apply online (i.e. www.ugcnetonline.in OR through a link available on the UGC website: www.ugc.ac.in). The candidates are required to download the Bank Challan Performa from the above website OR take photocopy from the UGC-NET Notification to be published in the Employment News dated 10-04-2010.

Symbiosis Entrance Test SET 2010


Symbiosis International ( Deemed University) announces for Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) - a mandatory common written test for the admission processes of undergraduate institutes of the university.

A candidate aspiring to pursue an undergraduate programme at Symbiosis needs to follow the 3 stages mentioned below:

Stage-1: SET Test
• Register online at www.set-test.org
• You may register for one paper in the morning viz. Law or Engineering or Health Sciences and one paper in the afternoon session viz. General or Design.
For Engineering and Health Sciences, if a candidate wishes to offer scores other than SET, he/she need not register for SET and apply directly to the concerned institute.
• You need to upload a scanned photograph of yours at the time of registration.
• Follow the instructions for payment of Test fee of Rs. 1400/- on the SET website. This includes charges for a prospectus of the Undergraduate programmes at Symbiosis International (Deemed University)
• Candidates applying to Symbiosis Institute of Technology must register at SET even if they offer JEE or AIEEE scores. They need to pay the prospectus fee of Rs. 500/-
• Print "Admit Card" directly from the website from April 21, 2010 to May 2, 2010.
• Bring the Admit Card and a Photo Identity to the Test Center. It will be authenticated during the Test.
(Candidates shall preserve the authenticated Admit Card till the Admission processes of the desired Symbiosis Institutes are over. If the Admit card is lost, no duplicate Admit Card will be issued.)
• Appear for the Test.

Stage-2: Apply online to the desired SlU's constituent institutes.
• The SET website allows a facility to directly apply online to an institute.
• Candidates may apply also from the institute website.
• To apply to an institute, a candidate must register for the relevant SET paper. For example, to apply to Symbiosis Law School, register for Law paper at SET.
• Candidates applying to Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) or Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) with other than SET-2010 score should refer to the institute websites and apply.

Stage-3: Attend further selection process of the chosen institutes, if called.
• Each institute has its own weightages for arriving at a cutoff, depending on its focused field as mentioned in the prospectus of each constituent institute.
• The institutes will announce a short list for attending further selection process.
• The individual institute as per their schedules will announce short List & Waiting Lists.

Important
• While adequate care is taken in ensuring that there are no mistakes in reading the answer sheet by the scanning machine, there is no provision of revaluation of the answer sheet of any candidate.
• The scores published by the Symbiosis Test Secretariat shall be final and shall not be subject to any appeal or revaluation.
• The SET Score card will be available on the website for a period of one month from the date of declaration of results i.e. from May 15, 2010 to June 15, 2010.
• Those candidates paying through cash or DD, should ensure that

Symbiosis Entrance Test SET 2010 Structure

a. Duration: SET duration is 150 minutes.
b. SET is an objective test.
c. Papers: SET is conducted in two sessions for FIVE question papers.
A candidate may apply to take one paper from each session.
d. Institutes: The constituent institutes use scores of the following for admission.

SET is an aptitude test and is objective in nature for all the paper except Design. Each question has four options as answers. There is no negative marking for wrong answers. All sections are Mandatory.

How to Register For Symbiosis Entrance Test SET 2010
Step 1. A candidate can register for one paper from the morning session viz. Law or Engineering or Health Sciences and one paper from the afternoon session viz. General or Design Register at www.set-test.org This will generate your SET ID.
You need to upload latest scanned photograph (in the given format and size) of own at the time of online registration.

Step 2. Pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 1400/- towards the Test Fee and the prospectus of undergraduate programmes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University).The SIDU Admission Cell will courier a copy of prospectus to the address registered at www.set-test.org

You have four (4) choices for payment. For different modes of payment, different 'Payment Advice' formats are created. Choose a payment mode and print a 'Payment Advice' form online.

1. CASH:
This 'Payment Advice' form is in three parts. Pay Rs. 1400/- in cash at Axis Bank branch in your city. Refer to the list of branches on the website. The bank will return two parts of the 'Payment Advice' form to you. The 'Student copy' is your receipt.

Selection Process
The selection of candidates for admission to the P.G./M.Phil./Ph.D. programmes will be based on the marks obtained in the entrance examination only.
The NET/JRF qualified candidates with fellowships will be given direct admission to Ph.D. programmes.
The miimum cut off mark for general candidates in respect of Ph.D. and M.Phil. admission shall be half of the average of the entrance examination marks scored by all the candidates in the respective subject. The minimum cut of mark for OBC/SC/ST/Physicaly challenged candidates will be 10% below the cut off marks of the general catagory candidates.
For the purpose of working out the average, only 'O' and above will be taken into account, i.e. the negative marks, if any wil not be counted for working out the average of the entrance examination.

Mere appearance in the entrance examination does not entitle a candidate for admission to any course in this University and he/she will be granted admission only if he/ she fulfils the eligibility criteria fixed for the courses. Candidates are advised to take up the examination only if they satisfy the eligibility criteria. If the number of applications received is less than the prescribed intake, there will be no entrance test; admission will be granted based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

Admission Requirements for Ph.D. programmes
Ph.D. Full-time

For all Ph.D. (Full-time) programmes, the following categories of candidates are eligible to apply:
(a) Candidates should have qualified for their P.G. degree in the subject concerned with a minimum of 55% of marks or equivalent from a recognised
University under 10+2+3+2 system of study or an equivalent system recognised by this University.

Or

(b) Teacher candidates working in the institutions admitted to the privileges
of this University and other Universities provided they are qualified and granted leave for the required period by the competent authority.

Or

(c) Candidates with GATE or other similar qualifications employed in research projects in the University departments or recognized research institutions provided they possess the required educational qualifications.
The project assistants will also have to appear for the entrance examination
for admission to Ph.D.

Or

(d) The NET/ JRF qualified candidates with fellowships wil be given direct
admission to Ph.D. programmes. All other non-fellowship NET and GATE
qualified candidates will have to appear for the entrance examination.


Ph.D. Part-time (Internal)
(a) Teacher candidates working in Colleges/ University departments and such other institutions recognized by Pondicherry University and who have qualified for the Master's degree in their respective disciplines or a degree accepted as equivalent there to by Pondicherry University and obtained 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in their Post Graduate Degree and who have three years of continuous teaching experience at degree and / or post-graduate level in the subject concerned.

(b) Teacher candidates working in recognized schools and teaching at the
High School level, situated within the jurisdiction of PondicherryUniversity with a Master's degree in their respective disciplines or a degree accepted as equivalent thereto by the University and obtained 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in their post-graduate degree and who have put in 5 years of continuous teaching in the subject concerned.

(c) Non-teaching staff employed in a time scale of pay in this University
and other affiliated research institutions provided that

(i) the candidates possess required post-graduate degree as prescribed
by the Department concerned and obtained 55% marks (or and equivalent grade),
(ii) the candidate has at least 10 years of work experience of which at least
two years should be relevant to the field of research, proof of which to be
evidenced through two research papers published in standard journals
or
(iii) the candidate has at least 5 years of work experience with M.Phil. in the
subject concerned and published two research papers in standard journals in
the subject concerned.

Note : Candidates under the regulations of part-time (Internal) are prohibited from taking any remunerative assignments, nor can they join any other course of study without the prior approval of the Guide / Supervisor.

Ph.D. Part-time (External)
(a) Permanent employees of Academic Staff Colleges/ Universities / other educational institutions of higher learning / R&D Lab with at least 5 years of experience and with post-graduate qualification in the subject concerned and obtained 55% marks (or equivalent grade) are eligible for registering for Ph.D. Part-time (external).
(b) Employees with a minimum of ten years of experience in Government, local bodies, recognized institutes, Public Sector Undertakings and Non-Governmental Organizations who are academically qualified with 55% of marks (or equivalent grade) in their post-graduate degree are eligible for registering for Ph.D. provided the candidate has experience in the relevant field of research for at least three continuous years out of ten years of service and published at least two papers in standard journals in the subject concerned.

All the part-time internal as well as external candidates applying for admission to the Ph.D. programme should submit an outline proposal of the research to be conducted, giving sufficient background material and the proposed line of research. In case of candidates, working outside the University area, a local guide duly appointed by the University may be permitted in addition to the University guide.

Application forms and prospectus can be obtained by POST by writing to The Deputy Registrar (Academic II), Pondicherry University, R.V Nagar, Kalapet, Puducherry 605014. along with a self addressed envelope of size 32X25cm, stamped for Rs.90. The request cover should be superscribed “Request for application form for admission”.

The application can also be obtained in PERSON from Pondicherry University Staff Co-Op credit store at the campus on payment of Rs.100

Post Graduate Programme in Management Admission 2010

KIAMS offers a two year fully residential Post Graduate Diploma in Management Programme to train and develop managers for the next millennium. We provide a state-of-the-art learning environment with top-of-the-line facilities.

Objective: To be effective leaders, students must understand their own strengths and weaknesses, and look for opportunities to grow by overcoming weaknesses and sharpening strengths. They must prepare mentally to challenge the future. They must also be able to understand organizational objectives, the relative importance of different factors; and be efficient in implementing the ensuing policies. It is vital that they are also capable of convincing other people and at the same time are proactive team players.

Eligibility: Graduates (at least a three year bachelor’s degree) in any discipline with an aggregate of 50 percent or more marks are eligible to apply. Candidates appearing for the final examination for the bachelor’s degree can also apply, provided they complete their degree course prior to the commencement of the PGDM programme (July 2010).
Admission Procedure: Candidates should appear either Common Admissions Test (CAT) conducted by the IIMs or Xavier Admission Test (XAT) conducted by XLRI. KIAMS uses CAT and XAT for short listing the candidates. IIMs and XLRI have no role either in selection process or in conduct of the programme. Additionally the candidates should register with KIAMS through a separate application form. The short-listed candidates will be called for Group Activity, Group Work and Interview conducted by KIAMS at Harihar, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Baroda and Lucknow from April 2010.
