Kerala Ayurveda PG Admissions 2010

Eligibility for admission:|

Nativity : Applicant should be an Indian Citizen.

Age: Candidate should not be over 45 years of age as on 30.04.2010, subject to a relaxation of five years in the case of SC/ST candidates.

Academic Qualifications: BAM /Ayurvedacharya /BAMS from the colleges having CCIM recognition and BAMS Degree of Universities in Kerala or its equivalent degree recognized by the University of Kerala with 50% of marks for theory and practical separately in each subject. But exemption for minimum marks prescribed for admission for MD (Ay) is granted to the students who have passed the BAMS/BAM examination before 1995 from the Universities of Kerala without 50% of marks for theory and practical. Applicants who had completed compulsory internship on or before 30.04.2010 are eligible to apply for the Entrance Examination subject to the production of Internship Certificate from the Medical Council constituted in this regard.

Mode of selection: Selection of candidates except for the seats reserved for teaching staff of Ayurveda Colleges in the State, Medical Officer of the Department of I.S.M and for the candidate sponsored by the Lakshadweep Administration, will be made on the basis of the Entrance Examination to be conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Thiruvananthapuram.

The Entrance Examination will be conducted at Thiruvananthapuram on 25.07.2010 (Sunday). It will consist of Two Papers each of 2 hours duration and with 150 Objective type (Multiple choices) questions each.

Application forms: The candidates seeking admission to these courses except for reserved seats under service categories/nomination should apply in the prescribed format, which can be downloaded from the official website "cee-kerala.org", of Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, from 09.06.2010. Candidates applying from within the Kerala State can remit the Application Fee of Rs.1000/- (Rupees One thousand only) for General candidates and for SC/ST Candidates Rs.500/-(Rupees Five hundred only) in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations payable at Thiruvananthapuram in any branch of State Bank of Travancore (SBT) using the Chalan provided along with the downloaded application form. The original chalan should be attached with the application form duly signed and authorized by the authorities of SBT. The candidates who reside outside can apply in the downloaded application form along with the Demand Draft for Rs.1000/-(Rupees One thousand only) for General Candidates and Rs.500/-( Rupees Five hundred only)for SC/ST Candidates drawn in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations payable at Thiruvananthapuram. The fee for Entrance Examination once remitted will not be refunded on any account. Application forms will not be sold from the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations or from the Directorate of Ayurveda Medical Education.

The Teachers of Ayurveda Colleges and Medical Officers of ISM Department, applying against the seats reserved for them, should remit the application fee [Rs.1000/-] in Treasury, in the head of Account "0210- 02-101-99". Such candidates should submit the application in the same format available at "cee-kearla.org" along with the original Chalan receipt to the Director of Ayurveda Medical Education.

Candidates seeking admission against General merit seat should forward their completed application along with the Bank Chalan/ Demand Draft to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Building, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram - 695001, either by post or by hand delivery so as to reach him on or before 5 pm, 03.07.2010. Candidates applying against Service quota should submit their application with necessary documents/certificates and the chalan receipt to the Director, Directorate of Ayurveda Medical Education, Arogyabhavan, M.G. Road, Thiruvananthapuram, through their controlling officers, so as to reach him on or before 5 pm, 03.07.2010. Late applications will not be accepted. Commissioner for Entrance Examinations or other officers will not be responsible for any postal delay.

Belated, incomplete, defective and wrongly addressed applications will be summarily rejected and no correspondence will be undertaken in this regard. Candidates will not be allowed either to include any information in the application form or to submit any certificates or documents claiming reservation or any benefits, after the submission of the application, under any circumstances. The certificates, which are not in the format specified in the application form, will not be considered under any circumstances.
SC/ST candidates should note that they have to obtain Community certificate in the body of the application form itself. The certificates that are attached separately along with the application form will not be considered.

The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will publish the rank list of candidates based on merit as assessed in the Entrance Examination and forward the same to the Director of Ayurveda Medical Education.

The selection and allotment of seats including those under Service Quota will be made by the Director of Ayurveda Medical Education, based on various provisions laid down in the Prospectus.

Doctor of Philosophy Admission 2010

Eligibility: The admission to PhD programmes would strictly be done on the basis of regulations contained there in the PhD Ordinance of the MRIU which has adopted the basic guidelines of UGC. An applicant possessing any of the following qualifications shall be eligible to apply for admission to a Ph.D. programme of the University:

(i) A Master’s degree with not less than 55% marks in aggregate in Engineering / Technology / Science / Humanities / Commerce/ Medicine/ Law/Education / Pharmacy / Management of a recognized Indian University, or a degree approved by Association of Indian Universities, or any other equivalent qualification to the satisfaction of Academic Council of the University,

(ii) Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Medicine / any other professional discipline of at least four year duration after 10+2, with either 70% or more marks in aggregate and a minimum of fifteen years of relevant experience in recognized Institute/ University /Industry/ Government Organization, may be considered eligible for admission, on the recommendation of BOS and approval by Academic Council provided that such applicants may, in case considered essential, be required to qualify in the course/s specified by the DRC/BOS.

Registration Procedure:
1. Applications for joining the Ph.D. programme shall be submitted on a prescribed Form to the Director, Admission. All eligible candidates shall have to appear in a written test (of 120 marks) to be Organized by MRIU, as per guide lines of the UGC, followed by an interview/presentation carrying a weigtage of 30 marks. Those applicants which are short listed and are found to be suitable shall be placed before the DRC of the concerned department for judging the suitability of the research plan and availability of the supervisor. The research plan shall be written in English in the specified format in accordance with the instructions contained in the PhD Ordinance. In case of a suitable candidate, the DRC shall assign some specific topic as the research plan to the candidate. A candidate will ordinarily be allowed twice for such presentation before the DRC. A third attempt may be allowed only with the approval of the Vice Chancellor in special circumstances.

2. The recommendations of the DRC regarding the research plan of the candidate and proposed supervisors) shall be put up in the meeting of the BOS for approval and for further submission to the Board of Faculty.

3. While recommending approval of the Research Plan, the BOS will also approve the thesis supervisor(s) or, in case it deems fit not to approve the proposed supervisor, or any of the joint supervisors, it may advise the candidate to propose alternate names for consideration of the BOS.

4. After the approval of BOS approval of the research plan and the name(s) of the supervisor(s) of a candidate, the case shall be submitted to the concerned Board of Faculty for its approval and to refer, if found legitimate, to the Academic Council for its consideration and approval in the ensuing meeting of Academic Council. If the approval is not accorded, then such a candidate may submit his/her case afresh after modification in the research plan.

5. After the approval of the Academic Council and the payment of fees prescribed by the University, a candidate shall be formally registered as a research scholar/ Student with effect from date on which the BOS accorded its approval or from the date specified by the Academic Council

6. A Research Scholar shall be required to renew his registration every semester/ year and pay the fees in the manner prescribed by the University.

Admission Procedure: Application for admission shall be submitted on-line only at University website www.mriu.edu.in. Applicants are required to fill up personal details, qualification and choice of broad category of courses. An amount of Rs. 1200/- is payable either in cash at specified branches of Axis Bank, University Counter at Campus, Administrative Headquarter and City Centres or through Credit / Debit Card on-line through payment gateway. Admission shall be made on the basis of physical counseling, for which candidate would be required to make presence before the Admission Committee on the specified date as per schedule given in the Admission Brochure.

Admission Brochure may be taken from specified branches of Axis Bank or MRIU Counter or may be downloaded from the University website. It will have a scratch card having a numeric code which will facilitate on-line submission of Application Form. Alternatively payment can be made on-line through Credit / Debit Card. Candidates are advised to go through Admission Brochure carefully and act accordingly.

Disaster Management Admission 2010 at Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning

Early Career Fellowships for Researchers 2010 at Wellcome Trust DBT – India Alliance, Hyderabad


This scheme provides a unique opportunity for the most promising postdoctoral researchers moving to India or within India, to make a start in developing their independent research career. Candidates will be expected to identify an important biomedical research question, and to develop and deliver a personal programme to achieve their research aims. Fellows may normally spend up to 24 months outside the host institution, in other leading laboratories, anywhere in the world.

What’s included : The fellowship is for four years full time and provides:
* Personal support for the fellow. For details see costing policies.
* Research expenses (materials and consumables; animals; support to attend scientific meetings; and small items of equipment, e.g. laptop)
* Additional allowances (travel and overseas subsistence) for scientifically justified visits of normally up to 24 months.
It is strongly recommended that applicants utilize all the provisions of the scheme. Support funds for research staff or equipment are not provided. It is expected that appropriate laboratories will be selected, and that the majority of the necessary equipment and facilities required for the proposed research will be available to the candidate.

Eligibility: You must be in the final year of your PhD studies or have no more than three years of postdoctoral research experience from the date of your PhD viva to the full application submission deadline. Time spent outside the research environment will be considered but has to be clearly mentioned in the application. You must have shown significant promise in your scientific career to date and the potential to become an independent researcher.

It is necessary that your Fellowship research be carried out in a laboratory that is not your thesis laboratory. Exceptions would be considered however, the preliminary application would have to include a strong letter of justification from you and your thesis supervisor, explaining how continuing to stay in the thesis laboratory would help develop your independent research career.
