Post Doctoral Fellowship of Indian Institute of Technology Madras for Women

IIT Madras offers Short Term Post Doctoral Fellowship for women with Ph.D with an objective of maintaining awareness and interest in high quality academic research in the engineering departments of Aerospace, Applied Mechanics, Biotechnology, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical, Engineering Design, Mechanical, Metallurgical & Materials and Ocean and in the departments of Chemistry, Humanities & Social Sciences, Management Studies, Mathematics and Physics.

Aim : The focus of the scheme is primarily to sustain and nurture the involvement of women with Ph.D who could not pursue their interest in research due to personal / professional reasons. In other words the scheme is not intended for career advancement of those for whom alternate avenues for research are open and available.

Eligibility : Candidates should have a Ph.D in the appropriate discipline. There is no age limit prescribed.
Duration : The duration of the fellowship will vary from 2 to 6 months, consisting of 2 to 3 visits of duration not less than two months. After the first visit, the Department at its discretion may extend the fellowship to a maximum total duration of six months.

Details of Support:
a) Rs.25000/(consolidated) per month.
b) Return Train Fare by II AC from place of residence in India to IIT Madras.
c) Suitable accommodation as per IIT norms will be offered if requested and if available.

Admission to Three Year LLB Course 2010 at Government Law Colleges at Thiruvananthapuram

Applications are invited for the Entrance Examination for admission to Three Year LL.B Course-2010-11 in the Government Law Colleges at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode.

Eligibility : Applicant should be a Graduate in any faculty of any University in Kerala or of any other Universities, recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala as equivalent thereto, with a minimum of 40% marks in aggregate (for all parts of the Degree examination taken together). Candidates seeking admission under SC/ST category should have passed the qualifying examination with 35% marks. Candidates who are appearing /have appeared for the qualifying examination (regular) this year are also eligible to apply for the Entrance Examination subject to the condition that they should produce the original Mark lists of all parts and Provisional Degree/Degree certificate of the qualifying examination at the time of Centralized Allotment Process.

Age: There is no upper age limit for admission to the 3 year LL.B Course.
Nativity: Applicant should be an Indian citizen of Kerala Origin.

Entrance Examination: The Entrance Examination will be conducted at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikkode on 14-08-2010 (Saturday). It will be of 3 hours duration and will consist of 200 Multiple Choice Questions. The Questions will cover General Knowledge, English and Aptitude for Legal Studies.

Application Procedure : Last date and time for receipt of filled-in application forms Completed applications with all the documents should be forwarded to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Buildings, 5th Floor, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram – 695 001 either by Registered post or by hand delivery so as to reach him before 5 pm on 24.07.2010. Late applications will not be accepted. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will not be responsible for any postal delay. Incomplete, defective and wrongly addressed applications will be summarily rejected and no correspondence will be undertaken in this regard.

Application Fee: For General candidates, the application fee is Rs.600/- (Rupees Six Hundred Only) and for SC/ST Candidates the application fee is Rs.300/- (Rupees Three Hundred Only).Keralites residing inside Kerala State, can remit the Application fee in any branch of the State bank of Travancore using the Challan provided on page No.7 of the application form. The original Challan contained in page No.7 shall be attached with the application form duly signed and authorized by Bank authorities on remittance of application fees.
