MBBS, BDS and BAMS Admissions 2011
Amrita Entrance Examination (Medical) 2011, for admission to MBBS, BDS and BAMS (Ayurveda) courses under the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, will be held from 10 am to 12.30 pm on 22nd May 2011 (Sunday) at Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Kozhikode, Kochi, Amritapuri (Kollam) and Thiruvananthapuram and also at California, U.S.A.
Amrita Entrance Exam will be of objective type with approximately 25 questions from Physics, 35 from Chemistry, 70 from Biology/Biotechnology, 10 from English and 10 from General Knowledge. The syllabus for Amrita Entrance Examination will be as per the 10 + 2 examination (CBSE). Each correct response will be awarded three marks and for each incorrect response one mark will be deducted from the total score.
Applicant should have attained at least 17 years of age as on 31st December 2011, but should not have crossed the age of 23 years as on that date. Applicant must have passed plus two or equivalent Examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology /Biotechnology and English. They should have passed in these subjects individually and should have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in English and 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together, from any State Higher Secondary Board or equivalent (Biotechnology subject will be considered only for MBBS). For SC/ST Candidates, minimum marks required in plus two is 50% and 40% in the Amrita Entrance Examination.
Applicant must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination/equivalent in first attempt (Exemptions may be considered only on medical grounds and the decision of the Chairman-Admissions will be final and binding). The last two years of such study should include Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English (Biotechnology subject will be considered only for MBBS). Students studying in foreign countries following a syllabus other than any Indian syllabus should produce an Equivalence Certificate from The Association of Indian Universities, A.I.U House, 16 Comrade Indrajit Gupta Marg [Kotla Marg], New Delhi-110002.
Those awaiting results of the qualifying examination can also write the Amrita Entrance Examination subject to their producing the mark list of the qualifying examination on or before 6th June 2011. Aligarh Muslim University has invited applications for admission to the Engineering and Medical Courses at institutions under the University.B.Tech/B Arch courses are offered at Zakir Husain College of Engineering & Technology under the Faculty of Engineering & Technology of Aligarh Muslim University.
For admission to the B.Tech Courses in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Petrochemical Engineering, applicant should have passed the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination of Aligarh Muslim University or an equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or the Diploma in Engineering of Aligarh Muslim University with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

For Admission to Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) course of 10 semester duration, applicant should have passed the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination of Aligarh Muslim University or an equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or should hold Diploma in Engineering of Aligarh Muslim University with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Selection will be through Admission Test, which will have two papers of equal weightage.
Paper I of three hour duration will be from 10 am on 14.5.2011 and that of Paper II, also of three hours duration, from 3 pm on 14.5.2011. Paper I will be an objective type paper of 150 marks comprising 150 questions from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
Paper II will be the Architecture Aptitude Test which will contain some descriptive questions and Test of Drawing. Candidates should bring their own drawing and sketching material like pencils, eraser, sharpener, pen, ink, Pencil Colours, Water Colours etc. Drawing Sheets and/or Answer Booklet shall be provided to the candidates.

Admission test will have one objective type paper of 200 marks comprising 200 questions from Chemistry, Physics, Botany and Zoology. Applicant should secure at least 50% marks in the Admission Test to become eligible for selection.

M.Phil/Ph.D (Development Studies): For the two years M.Phil Programme and 4 year Ph.D Programme both of which are interdisciplinary programmes commencing August 2011, applicant should hold M.A/M.Sc in Economics/ M.Stat/M.Sc (Physics or Mathematics or Environmental Science or Operations Research)/M.B.A/M.Tech/M.E/ B.Tech/B.E with at least 55% aggregate marks for Economics discipline and 60% aggregate marks for other disciplines. The applicant must have studied Mathematics at the Higher Secondary level or should be able to demonstrate equivalent Mathematical ability.
Stipend: M.Phil/Ph.D students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs.12,000/- in the first two years. Those students, who fulfill the terms and conditions for Ph.D. registration, would receive a monthly stipend of Rs.18,000/- after Ph. D. registration in the third year.
Selection Procedure: Selection will be based on a written test and an interview. The written test will cover General Aptitude, Analytical ability and Mathematical skills. The written test will be held on April 24, 2011 (Sunday) at Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, and Thiruvananthapuram. The test venue will be notified in the call letter. Based on the performance in the written test, short listed candidates will be called for an interview at IGIDR around the last week of June 2011. Second class return rail fare by the shortest route from the place of residence will be paid to the candidates interviewed.

External Ph.D. Programme (Development Studies): Applications have also been invited for the interdisciplinary External Ph.D. Programme in Development Studies with emphasis on all areas of Economics including Energy and Environment Policy, commencing August 2011. Applicants with a minimum of three years of work experience from research and academic institutions, industry and government can apply. The External Ph.D. programme involves course work. There will be no scholarships or tuition fee waivers.
Applicant should hold M.A/M.Sc in Economics/M.Stat/M.Sc in Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Environmental Science or Operations Research/ M.B.A/M.Tech/M.E/ B.Tech/B.E or equivalent with at least 55% aggregate marks for Economics discipline and 60% aggregate marks for other disciplines. The applicant must have studied Mathematics at the Higher Secondary level or should be able to demonstrate equivalent Mathematical ability. Applicant should apply with the `No Objection Certificate' along with leave authorization on the official letterhead of the Organization duly signed by the authorized official of the Organization. Applicants should be preferably below 45 years of age which will be relaxed only in case of exceptional candidates.
