Eligibility: Eligibility conditions for seeking admission to B. A. (Hons.) Journalism
1. The candidate should have either passed or appeared in the Senior Secondary School Examination of CBSE or any other examination considered equivalent by the University of Delhi. The candidate should secure an aggregate of at least 70% marks in his/her class XII examination (65% for SC, ST, CW and PWD categories) in best of four papers including English and three other academic subjects as specified by the University of Delhi*. The candidate should also have secured at least 60% marks in English.
* List of academic subjects as specified by the University of Delhi. All academic subjects specified by Delhi University Admission Bulletin, except fashion studies, shall be taken into consideration for calculating the best four. Academic subjects are: Hindi Core, English Core, Hindi Elective, English Elective/Functional English, Other languages, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering Drawing, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science, Fine Arts, Agriculture, Computer Science, Informatics Practices, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Physical Education, Music, Dance, Entrepreneurship, Biotechnology, Web and Multi-Media Technology. No vocational subject will be taken for calculation in the best four. If a student has both English core and English Elective/Functional English both could be considered while calculating the best four.
2. The candidate should have obtained pass mark in each of the four papers considered for computing the aggregate in the above mentioned subjects.
3. The candidate must produce the confirmed result and mark sheet of the qualifying examination on the day of the Personal Interview to be eligible for the process of admission to the Journalism course. Candidates who do not have the confirmed mark sheet will not be entertained under any circumstances.
4. The reserved category certificates of OBC (of Central List & non creamy layer), SC, ST, PWD, and CW, as applicable, in the name of the candidate, must be produced on the day of the interview.
5. Compartment cases of current year will not be considered for admission.
6. Candidates who have appeared in the class XII examination in 2011 and who repeat a paper for improvement to gain eligibility shall not be considered for admission in the current year.
7. Foreign nationals seeking admission to B. A. (Hons.) Journalism against the prescribed quota of seats earmarked for them, shall have to apply through the Foreign Students Advisor, C/o Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, Delhi - 110 007 and are exempted from the written examination and Interview.
8. Those foreign students who have acquired their minimum qualification for admission from any Indian Board, in India have to apply directly as General category candidate. They have to appear for the entrance test like general category candidates and follow the same selection process as applicable to general category and in addition fill up the foreign student application form of FSR office (downloadable from: www.du.ac.in/forms/foreignstudents1.pdf. All admission of foreign students are channeled through the Foreign Students Registry (FSR) office of University of Delhi.
Selection Process
1. Written Joint Entrance Test
Applicants shall be called for an objective type multiple choice as well as subjective type test which shall be held in Delhi.
The written examination is designed to test the aptitude of the candidates to pursue the B.A. (Hons.) Journalism course. There is no prescribed syllabus or format for the entrance examination. The following areas have been usually included in the entrance examination in the past.
1. Objective multiple choice questions on
o General Awareness
o Current Affairs
2. Subjective
o Language/Writing Skills
o Book/Film review
o Critical analysis of contemporary media
o Comments/ essay on contemporary issues
The test shall be of 2:30 hours duration, extra time will be given to the candidates for filling up details on test booklet and answer sheet, marking attendance, verification of candidates’ documents, distribution, and collection of test material etc. The candidate should report at their respective examination centres latest by 9 am on the day of the test. The examination will start at 9:30 am and the booklet will be collected at 12:00 noon. The test booklet will have both the subjective and objective questions. There will be space specified in the booklet itself to answer the subjective questions. Since the candidates will have to answer the objective questions on the OMR sheet they should bring pencils and erasers with themselves and follow the instructions accordingly. The scheme of examination may be changed on the recommendation of the admission committee.
The subjective part of the booklet will be evaluated only of those candidates/examinee who obtain qualifying marks in the objective test as decided by the admission committee.
2. Interview: Candidates shall be called for the interview based on the performance in the written test and Class XII marks.
3. Final selection: Final Selection will be made for all categories on the following basis:

4. Counseling and Admission of candidates: The candidates shall be allotted the respective colleges as per their merit and the choice of preference given at the time of counseling. Candidates offered admission are required to deposit the course fees (as applicable) on the same day or as per the allocated time along with their documents in their respective college, failing which his/her candidature will be cancelled. Candidates who do not take admission during the stipulated time lose the right of admission to the college. Candidates not present when called to the counseling will not be entertained later. At the second and third counseling, admitted candidates will be permitted a change of college subject to availability of seats. To avail any change in their college preference, the candidate should have necessarily deposited fees and fulfilled the remaining admission formalities by the allocated time in their respective college, failing which the candidate loses right to admission as well as a right to exercise any choice later.Right to exercise choice for admission and any change of preference for college will be offered to only those candidates who are present on all the days of counseling specified for their ranks. In case the candidate is unable to be present on the day of counseling an authorized representative of the candidate can exercise the preference for college and meet other admission requirements. An application to this effect signed by the candidate should be submitted to the admission committee.

Minimum Qualification / Eligibility:
A. MTech Programme (common to all P.G. Programmes): Full time - Two years (Four Semesters)
Admission to a MTech Programme shall be open to candidates who have passed the prescribed qualifying Examination with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 5.5 in the 0-10 scale grading system, or not less than 55% of marks in the aggregate (taking into account the marks scored in all the subjects of all the public/university examinations conducted during the entire prescribed period for the degree programme). However, this prescribed minimum shall be a CGPA of 5.0 or 50% marks in the aggregate for SC/ST candidates.
B. MTech (Research) Programme: (common to all P.G. Programmes): Full time - Two years (Four Semesters)
A pass in the prescribed qualifying examination with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.0 OR not less than 60% marks in the aggregate (taking into account the marks scored in all the subjects of all the public / university examination conducted during the entire prescribed period for the degree programme) For SC/ST minimum CGPA of 5.5 OR 55% marks in the aggregate. Valid GATE score is essential for scholarship seats
C. MCA Programme : Full time Three-year (Six Semester) course
1. Candidates securing 60% marks or 6.5/10 CGPA (55% or 6.0/10 CGPA for SC/ST) in each of the examination of
(i) 12th level with Mathematics and
(ii) Bachelor’s Degree of full time 3 year duration from a recognised University with any one of the following as one of the subjects.

2. CAT - 2010 Score
Admission is based on the Rank/Scores obtained in the CAT - 2010 and Group discussion and Interview.
E. MSc Programme : Full time Two years (Four semesters) course:
Eligibility for admission to MSc Programme in:
i. M. Sc in Chemistry: A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry with 60% (or Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.0 in the 0-10 scale grading system) of the aggregate in all the years of course of study and with 55% (CGPA of at least 5.5 in the 0-10 scale grading system) in respect of SC/ST candidates.
ii. M. Sc. in Physics: A Bachelor’s Degree in the subject with 60% (or Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.0 in the 0-10 scale grading system) of the aggregate in all the years of course of study and with 55% (CGPA of at least 5.5 in the 0-10 scale grading system) in respect of SC/ST candidates.
F. PhD Programme
i) Admission to a PhD Programme shall be open to candidates who have passed the prescribed qualifying examination with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 5.5 in the 0-10 scale grading system, or not less than 55% marks in the aggregate (taking into account the marks scored in all the subjects of all the public/university examinations conducted during the entire prescribed period for the degree programme). However, this prescribed minimum shall be a CGPA of 5.0 or 50% marks in the aggregate for SC/ST candidates. The prescribed qualifying examination is as follows:
a. For PhD in Engineering/Technology - Master’s degree in relevant field.
b. For PhD in Science /Humanities, Social Sciences & Management - Master’s degree in relevant field.
ii) Employed professionals having experience and proven competence aspiring for PhD Programme will be considered under part-time scheme (External Registration) and will be allowed to pursue their research at their own location of work.
There are five types of student status for PhD programme:
1) Full-time students on Institute Scholarship
2) Full-time sponsored students on QIP/EFIP (AICTE)
3) Full-time/External Registrants sponsored from Industry or other organizations including Educational Institutions

For Two Year B.Ed.: Pass in +3 Degree Examination in Arts / Science with at least 50% marks in the aggregate. Candidates who have passed +3 Examination before 2007 will not be considered for admission.
For M.Ed.: Candidates applying for M.Ed. should have B.Ed. with 50% marks in the aggregate or B.Sc.B.Ed./B.A.B.Ed. with 50% marks in the aggregate and 50% marks in the Education component and also Post Graduate Degree in Science/Arts with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate.
For M.Sc. (Life Science) Ed.: Candidates should have passed 4 Year integrated B.Sc.B.Ed. with Chemistry, Botany, Zoology (CBZ) as in RIEs of NCERT with 55% marks in aggregate (Science and Education) or B.Sc. in (CBZ) with either Botany or Zoology must have been studied for three years with a 55% marks aggregate (CBZ) and B.Ed. with 55% marks from any recognized University.

The admission to B.E / B.Tech courses is made through 'Single Window' system by Anna University and management seats directly through Self Financing College Association.
Eligibility for M.E

Selection Process
The eligibility for admission to 5 years integrated postgraduate courses requires a pass in 10+2 level examination with Mathematics / Business Mathematics as one of the subjects. No age limit for joining this course.
The eligibility for Direct Admission to Lateral Entry (second year) of B.E / B.Tech course is 3 years diploma course in the respective subject.
The eligibility for admission to 5 years integrated postgraduate courses requires a pass in 10+2 level examination with Mathematics / Business Mathematics as one of the subjects. No age limit for joining this course. The college makes direct admission examination.
The eligibility for Direct Admission to second year of B.E / B.Tech course is 3 years diploma course in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology, Mechanical , electrical , electronic & instrumentation, civil etc. conducted by Tamil Nadu Stat Board of Technical Education or equivalent recognized by the board in pre-final and final semester is as per communities' reservation.

Admission against lapsed seats is made directly by the college after the completion of admission process by the Anna University. Certificates and Demand Draft for the fees shall be submitted to the Principal for consideration and grant of admission. The eligibility for admission remains same as enumerated in preceding paragraphs.

Admission Procedure
Admission of the students in all courses will be provisional subject to approval by Periyar University. Students must satisfy the eligibility conditions for admission. If the admission is found ineligible, the college will not be held responsible for it. Every foreign student seeking admissions should be a holder of a regular student VISA.
The applicants provisionally selected for the admission will be intimated by post. They have to present themselves ALONG WITH THEIR PARENTS/GUARDIAN for an interview with Principal on the date and time mentioned in the admission card. At the time of interview, they should produce the following original certificates.
Transfer certificate.
Conduct certificate from the Head of the institution last studied.
Mark statement of higher secondary courses or any other qualifying examination along with the photocopy of the mark statement.
Eligibility certificate issued by the Periyar University (if applicable).
Six passport size photographs
Applicants are advised to take photocopies of their certificates before submitting the originals at the time of admission. Request for the issue of the originals will not be entertained during the course of study.
Payment of fees
Tuition and other fees for the first year should be paid in full on the same day if selected for admission. Extension of time for payment of fees will not be granted. Failure to pay fees on the due date will result in forfeiture of the seat. College authorities reserve the right to cancel the admission of a student without returning the fees if: (1) there is any discrepancy between the certificates produced and the entries in application and (2) suppression of facts noticed at any time during the course of the study.
On withdrawal, the student has to remit the stipulated fee for the course.
Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
The college authorities reserve the right to increase the tuition and other fees at the commencement of the academic year, if they consider it necessary to do so.
