Department of Jute and Fibre Technology, Institute of Jute Technology, Calcutta University announces early commencement of the following short term training courses for Junior Level Supervisory Courses for Jute Sector under integrated skill development scheme to be conducted in this department for Sponsored and General ( Non-sponsored) Candidates:
JLS-1 : 3-MONTHS JUNIOR LEVEL SUPERVISORY COURSE IN SPINNING PREPARATORY

JLS-2: 3-MONTHS JUNIOR LEVEL SUPERVISORY COURSE IN SPINNING TO WINDING
(SPINNING, TWISTING AND WINDING ) Intake -30
JLS-3: 3-MONTHS JUNIOR LEVEL SUPERVISORY COURSE IN WEAVING PREPARATORY

JLS-4: 3-MONTHS JUNIOR LEVEL SUPERVISORY COURSE IN MAINTENANCE OF JUTE

Among the above stated four modules of industry oriented Junior Level supervisory courses of 3-month duration for each module, Course No- JLS-1, JLS-3 and JLS-4 will be commenced from 9th January, 2013 at Department of Jute and Fibre Technology, Institute of Jute Technology, Calcutta University, 35, Ballygunge Circular Road, Kolkata – 700 019 for both jute mill /jute organizations sponsored and nonsponsored general candidates. Jute Mill/Jute Organization may sponsor candidates for both JLS-1 and JLS-2 course to be continued at a stretch considering it as total 6 months duration in two modules of 3 months duration course splitted in two modules.

Eligibility
Any candidate who has passed madhyamik or equivalent may apply, but Class XII pass or Graduate
candidates with Jute Mill Sponsorship will be preferred. For Jute mill sponsored candidates, those who are engaged in the jute mill shop-floor work for a period of at least one year may be directly admitted after interview without any written admission test. General candidates have to appear in an written admission test and interview. SC/ST/OBC candidates will get special preference for admission in this course without admission test.

Important Dates for Submission of filled in application:

www.ijtindia.org  www.caluniv.ac.  or directly from the office of this department and should be submitted to the office of this department within2nd January, 2013 within 5 P.M after duly filled in and enclosing with attested copies of testimonials for the said three modules of JLS courses(Course no- JLS-1, JLS-3 and JLS-4 ) with a fee of Rs 500/- as application fee per application either in cash or draft in favour of“INSTITUTE OF JUTE TECHNOLOGY- ISDS account-2 (revenue)” payable at Kolkata. However, SC/ST candidates : Application Fee Rs 250/- , subjectto submission to the attested copy of caste certificate and original is to be produced to the office for such relaxation.

Important dates for Written Test, Interview and admission:
Last date of application- 2nd January, 2013 within 5 P.M . Unless otherwise mentioned, the general
category of non-sponsored candidates ( except SC/ST) have to appear in aSelection test followed by an interview, which will be held on 3rdJanuary, 2013 at 12-00 A.Mfor all the said three module of JLS courses mentioned above (Course no- JLS-1, JLS-3 and JLS-4) Admission date4th January to 8th January, 2013. Class start : 9th January , 2013.

Placement Assistance: Placememt Assistance will also be provided.
Commencement of JLS-Course – 2 or subsequently in JLS course in other modules :
For any candidate passing one JLS course may apply for admission to another module of JLS course subsequently in next batch. In that case, they will be exempted from admission test and interview. Hence, If the candidates passing JLS course -1 is sponsored by mills/ or other jute organizations, the same candidates may continue the JLS-2 course at a stretch considering as a 6 months course. Moreover any candidate passing JLS-1 course may apply for admission in JLS course -2 , as a matter of fact of the continuation, there will be direct admission for them without any further admission test and interview and the same principle will be applicable for other module of JLS courses also.

Moreover, if any candidate completes all the four modules of JLS-1, 2, 3, and 4 courses in subsequent batches, they will be considered to award 1 year certificate in Jute Processing Technology and Maintenance (equivalent to 1 yr ITI certificate in jute trade) from this department to be recognized by appropriate authority of Vocational Education and Training.

Course Fee
For all categories of candidates, the course fee for each module of JLS Course is Rs. 7,000/- per JLS course of 3 months duration irrespective of category of candidates. After their name is announced for admission, all candidates have to deposit the course fee of Rs 7,000/- by Demand Draft in favour of “INSTITUTE OF JUTE TECHNOLOGY- ISDS account -2 (revenue) ” payable at Kolkata within 4th to 8th January, 2013.

Intake : Total intake for each module of JLS courses will be ordinarily around 30. Intake may be increased as per decision of the appropriate authority.

Sponsorship :
For the sponsored candidates, original letter of sponsorship from the Unit Head of the Sponsoring
Organization/Unit/Mill (Director/ President/General Manager/Mill Manager/ Chief Executive/Executive Director with full name and office seal) mentioning the total experience, if any, is to be produced to this office during submission of application form and also during verification of qualification and other testimonials during admission with course fee between 11.00 A.M. and 2 P.M. from 4th January to 8th January, 2013.

GRADUATE ENGINEERS COURSE (THERMAL) (2013-2014)

“The Course covers the syllabus as per the Indian Electricity Rules”



WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN? The main aim of the course is to develop a pool of technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the Indian Power Sector, besides, the course shall improve and enhance the knowledge and skill of the Engineers sponsored by the State Electricity Boards, Power Utilities (Independent, Captive Power Plants), etc.

ABOUT THE COURSE: This is a modular type course of One year duration. On-job training is conducted at the  nearby Thermal Power Stations and the training on high tech simulator at NPTI, Delhi/Nagpur. The course covers  the syllabus as per the Indian Electricity Rules. The participants who have successfully completed this course at this Institute are entitled to obtain the Power Generating Station O&M Competency Certificate from State Electrical Licensing Boards.

ELIGIBILITY: B.E. or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical/ Electrical & Electronics Engineering from a recognised Institution/ University with minimum of 60% marks with I Class/I Grade
SELECTION CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION: Based on Merit (% of Marks)

AGE LIMIT: For Non-sponsored candidates, the age limit is 27 years as on 28.02.2013. No age limit for the sponsored candidates.

TOTAL SEATS: 77(seventy seven seats). 25% seats are reserved for candidates  sponsored from Power utilities having more than one year experience and more than 60% marks in Graduation with I Class/Grade.(If sponsored, attach sponsorship letter and experience certificate, photostat copy of appointment letter, photostat copy of last 12 months salary slips and photostat copy of bank statement for the last one year showing the credit  of salary in his bank account duly attested by Manager of Bank). 60% seats for Mechanical and 40% seats for Electrical.

However, if any of the seats fall vacant in any of  the category that shall be allocated to eligible candidates of other category. Reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Handicapped candidates shall be as per Govt. of India norms. NPTI reserves the right to increase or decrease the total seats.

PLACEMENT: To provide career opportunities in the Indian Power Sector, NPTI shall maintain close linkages    with    Power     Utilities    and   reputed companies   for   employment   of   these     trained Engineers. Most of the students of previous batches were placed decently in reputed Power sector companies. NPTI will not make  any efforts for placement of SPONSORED Candidates.

FEES: For Non-sponsored candidates  Rs.1,80,000/- plus 12.36% Service Tax(in two installments). For candidates sponsored by Organization  Rs.2,80,000/- plus 12.36% service tax payable in lump sum at the time of admission.
There is no fee concession for any category of candidates.
An Affidavit to be submitted by Sponsored candidates. The cost of transportation to Industries/power stations is to be borne by the participants.

LODGING/BOARDING: Facilities available on nominal charges. Separate hostel for girls.

College of Engineering Trivandrum is offering MBA programme of University of Kerala since 1985. Admission to the programme for both full time and part time batches is during May-June every year. Applications for admission to the 2013 batches are invited.

Eligibility: Educational qualification for admission to the programme is a pass in the degree level examination with 50% marks in aggregate from a university recognized by University of Kerala. For applicants with BA, BSc and B.Com, a pass in the examination with 50% marks in Part III is the eligibility condition. Students appearing for the final year degree examination in 2013 can also apply. Admission to such candidates will be subject to satisfying the eligibility criteria.

Full Time MBA: Applicants for the full-time MBA programme in the College must have a valid score in CMAT, the national level common admission test conducted by AICTE. Those who have not appeared for the CMAT conducted in September 2012 may appear for the test conducted in February 2013. Those who want to better the CMAT score of September 2012 may also appear for the February 2013 CMAT. Details of CMAT examination are available in www.aicte-cmat.in.

On the basis of the CMAT score, candidates will be called for Group Discussion and interview, which will be held in May 2013. They will be offered final admission on the basis of CMAT score (80% weightage) and performance in GD (10% weightage) and interview (10% weightage). Classes will start on 15 July 2013.

Part-time MBA: For part-time MBA programme, the candidates must have minimum two years experience at supervisory level in reputed organisations. Classes for the part-time batches will also start on 15 July 2013. Number of seats: Full time batch - 60 and Part-time - 30.

Subject to approval of AICTE, University of Kerala and Government of Kerala, the number of seats in the full time batch will be increased by another 60 in 2013. Two seats of the part-time programme is reserved for Government employees.

Fees: The tuition fee payable per semester is Rs. 25000 for both full - time and part time. Concession to SC/ST students is as per Government rules.

Applications: Application for admission to the 2013 batches will be received till 30 April 2013. Prescribed application forms may be downloaded from www.mba.cet.ac.in and sent to The Principal, College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram - 695 016, along with a demand draft for Rs. 500 drawn in favour of Director, Department of Business Administration, College of Engineering Trivandrum, payable at Trivandrum towards application fee. Student pursuing or having completed a minimum of three year graduate programme in any discipline with minimum 50% aggregate marks from any University, recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/AICTE, are eligible for Post Graduate Studies in Management. Students appearing for their final examination in April - May 2013 can also apply. Stage 2 (Short listing of candidates)
The short listing of candidates will be done on the basis of their qualifying test scores. The Institute reserves the right to use relevant work experience and / or past academic record and/or outstanding achievements score as the additional parameter for short listing candidates for the second stage of the admission process. The names of short listed candidates for stage 3, along with date, time and venue will be displayed at the notice board in the Institute premises by 5:00 p.m. and on the website on or before 7th March 2013. Stage 3 (Case Analysis and Personal Interview)
The third stage of the selection process will be conducted at Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi. However, the Institute reserves the right to change/drop any of these venues, which will be intimated through a notice on our web site.
For PGDM (Executive) the center for stage 3 will be Mumbai only.

Stage 4 (Declaration of merit position for each applicant)
Merit position for each of the applicant will be based on the scores obtained by the candidate in the following parameters; the respective weightage for the parameters is given in the Table below. The management reserves the right to fix the minimum qualifying marks for each of these parameters and/or change the parameters and their weightage. Two merit lists - one for all PGDM programmemes except PGDM (Executive) and another exclusive list for PGDM (Executive) will be generated.

Stage 5 (Counselling Session & payment of fees process)
All the merit rankers of PGDM programmes (other than PGDM-Executive) will be called for counseling at different time slots depending on the rank, intake of the programme and the availability of seats. The status will be updated on web-site at the end each day of counseling. (Refer to Appendix A for further details)
