ADMISSION NOTIFICATION (2008 - 2010)

Admission to Marine Fitter Course & Vessel Navigator Course

The Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical & Engineering Training (CIFNET) at Kochi/Chennai/ Visakhapatnam offers career training to candidates in Vessel Navigator and Marine Fitter Trades which have been newly introduced by Director General of Education & Training, Ministry of Labour, New Delhi under Craftsman Training Scheme of NCVT. The training courses of 24 months duration include basic practical training on board fishing vessels out at sea. The courses are scheduled to be commenced from 1st August 2008.

Applications in the prescribed form are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the above courses through entrance examination to be held on 6th July 2008 at CIFNET Kochi, Chennai and Visakhapatnam.

Qualification:-
(i) Essential: Pass in 10th Standard (SSLC) or equivalent examination with Maths and Science with 50% marks.
(ii) Desirable: One year fishing experience.
(iii) Age: 17 to 20 years as on 1st August 2008 candidates born between 01.08.1991 and 31.07.1988 (both days inclusive) are only eligible to apply. Upper age limit is relaxable to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates by 5 years.
