ELIGIBILITY: Senior secondary school Examination (10+ 2 System) or equivalent examination with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate (those who have appeared for the examination in March / April, 2009 may also apply)

Admissions will be strictly on merit through an All India Entrance Examination to be conducted at Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cuttack, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi and patna on 14th June , 2009 (Sunday) from 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.. If sufficient number of applications are not received for a centre, the University reserves the right to cancel the said centre and shift the applicants of that centre to another centre.

ADMISSIONS 2009-2010 MA in Development Studies

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Guwahati, Assam-781039, has invited applications for admission to the MA in Development Studies Programme starting in July 2009.

Admissions are given under Regular (Full -Time) and Sponsored (Full-Time) categories. Regular (Full -Time) students work full-time for their MA Degree. Sponsored (Full-Time) candidates are those sponsored by a recognized R&D Organization, Academic Institution, Governmental Organization, NGO, Development Agency or Industry, for doing MA in the Institute on a full-time basis. The applicant under this category must be a regular employee of the organization with at least 2 years of experience at the time of admission and be engaged in professional work in the discipline in which admission is sought. He/She will not receive any financial support from the Institute. Sponsorship letter (Form I) must be attached with the application.

All applicants should hold a Bachelor's Degree of minimum 3 years duration or its equivalent from a recognized University, in any discipline with a minimum average of 50% marks or 5.5 CPI in a 10-point scale [45% or 5.0 CPI in a 10-point scale, for SC/ST/Person with Disability (PD) candidate]. Those appearing in final Bachelor's Degree examinations are also eligible to apply, provisionally.

Reservation of Seats for SC/ST/OBC/PD categories will be as per Govt. of India rules. Institute Merit-Cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship is awarded to students of regular category whose parents' income does not exceed Rs.2,00,000/- per annum, for a period of 2(two) years. Applicant should have passed 10th class with 40% aggregate and 40% in English in 10th or +2 level and should be 17½ years to 25 years of age as on date of admission. Eye-sight must be 6/6 in both eyes and without colour blindness. Applicant should have height of 158 cm and weight of 48 kg.
