Eligibility Criteria :
The applicant must be a citizen of India and should have passed the H.S.(10+2) or its equivalent examination. The general candidates must have to secure at least 50.00% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology taken together (40.00% for SC/ST candidates) and at least 30.00% marks in English (for all categories). In addition, candidates must secure at least pass marks in the subjects individually including vernacular (or any other fifth subject) as mentioned below:

B.E/B.Tech./B.Arch : Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject.

M.B.B.S/B.D.S. : Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject.

PHARMACY: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, English and vernacular or any other fifth subject.

For MBBS and BDS courses : In addition to the aforesaid eligibility criteria, the general candidates must have to secure at least 50.00% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences taken together (40.00% for SC/ST) in the Joint Entrance Examination, W.B.

Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in 2010 will be allowed to sit for JEM-2010 provisionally and their admission, if merit listed, will be subjected to satisfying the minimum requirements of eligibility as specified above.

Age Restriction :
Candidates must be 17 (seventeen) years of age or above as on 31.12.2010. There is no upper age limit except for the Marine Engineering course for which the upper age limit is 25 years as on 31.07.2010.

Residential Requirements:
Candidates desirous of seeking admission to Government Engineering / Technology Colleges, Govt. Medical and Dental Colleges as well as to Private Medical and Dental Colleges, must have been residing in the State of West Bengal continuously at least for last 10 (ten) years as on 31.12.2009 or their parents must be permanent resident of West Bengal having their permanent home address in the State of West Bengal.

How to Apply
The Application Kit (i.e., prescribed printed application form along with Information Brochure and a printed window envelope) will be available from different Branches of United Bank of India (as specified below) on payment of Rs.500/- (for E / M type Form) and Rs.600/- for C type Form in cash .

The Application Kit may also be obtained by Post from the Board's Office on application with an additional fee of Rs.100/- (Rupees one hundred) only. The total amount (i.e., cost of application form plus Rs.100/-) has to be paid by Demand Draft drawn in favour of "WEST BENGAL JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS BOARD" payable at Howrah/Kolkata.

The last date for request for application-kit by post is 08.12.2009 and
the last date for receipt of completed application form by Speed Post only is 12.01.2010.

Request for application form received beyond the stipulated date as mentioned above will not be entertained and the Board shall not be held responsible in any manner whatsoever for such non-receipt arising out of postal delay. The Application Kit may also be obtained from the Board's Office only with payment of actual cost of the form plus late fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred) only. The whole amount is to be paid through a Bank Draft to be drawn in favour of "West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board" payable at Kolkata / Howrah from 01.01.2010 to 07.01.2010. The application form once purchased cannot be returned or replaced.

The duly filled in application form must be sent in the printed window envelope received by the candidate within the Application Kit by SPEED POST only so as to reach the office of the Board by 12.01.2010. Submission of Application Form by hand or courier service will not be accepted.

Fully residential two year Post Graduate Diploma in Forest Management (PGDFM)

Eligibility
Applicants should have (a) at least a three-years bachelor s degree in any discipline obtained through the 10+2+3 system or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST/PD) or equivalent CGPA.

Candidates appearing for the final year graduation examination are also eligible to apply provided they complete it before June 30, 2010 and fulfill the eligibility criteria as set by IIFM.

Admission Procedure

STEP-1: Common Admission Test (CAT)
All applicants desirous of seeking admission in PGDFM at IIFM, Bhopal have to appear for Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) between 28th November to 07th December 2009 by responding to their notification published in leading national dailies dated 30th August 2009. The CAT bulletin can be obtained from selected branches of Axis Bank on payment before 1st October 2009. IIFM will use the CAT score only for short-listing the candidates for two year full time post graduate programme. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.

STEP-2: IIFM Application Form :
In addition to CAT, the candidates should fill up a separate application form for admission to PGDFM. This form can be obtained either personally or by post by sending a Demand Draft of Rs 900/- (Rs 450/- for SC / ST) drawn in favour of "Director, Indian Institute of Forest Management" payable at Bhopal. Alternatively, the form can be downloaded from the website and the filled in hardcopy of the form along with the Draft for the specified amount should be sent to IIFM. Alternatively the information bulletin and the application form can be purchased by paying cash at the various centres of the following coaching institutes (Photocopy of the cash receipt issued by the coaching institute should be attached) :

Filled in application form, complete in all respect including the CAT registration number (which will be available on CAT admit card, issued by IIM) should reach IIFM Bhopal on or before 10th December 2009. Applicant should attach the photocopy of CAT admit card along with IIFM application form.

STEP-3: Group Discussion/Interview:
Candidates shortlisted on the basis of CAT score, will be called for Group Discussion and Interview at IIFM, Bhopal during February/March 2010.

Providing inaccurate or incomplete information or malpractice of any kind or canvassing will result in disqualification of the candidate.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ADMISSION UNDER ANY CATEGORY IS SUBJECT TO MEETING THE SELECTION CRITERIA AS SPECIFIED BY IIFM. IN CASE OF ANY DISPUTE, THE JURISDICTION WILL BE THE COMPETENT COURT OF BHOPAL ONLY.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, has invited applications for admission to Summer Research Fellowships-2010. Admission 2010

CDS invites applications for admission to its full - time residential program, leading to PhD in Economics of the Jawaharlal Nehru University or the University of Kerala.

The Program has a strong orientation towards Development Studies with a core economics component and encourages cross - disciplinary inputs. Core areas of research at CDS and the current themes of PhD studies are listed elsewhere.



Master's with ≥ 55% marks and MPhil with FGPA of at least 6.0 (high second class) in Economics or related disciplines in Development Studies.

Those awaiting award of the MPhil Degree can also apply.
SC, ST & PH candidates eligible irrespective of percentage of marks.
Those who do not have an MPhil may be considered in exceptional cases of merit, if having at least two years research experience in a University / Research Institution and research publications in refereed academic journals.
Foreign nationals and those who have undergone the qualifying Programs abroad will be eligible subject to clarification on equivalence of their Degrees by the University.
Financial Assistance:

All the selected candidates will be offered Fellowships, available under various schemes.

ICSSR Institutional Doctoral Fellowships Six:

Presently @ Rs. 6,000 per month for those who have cleared NET for lectureship and @ Rs. 5,000 for those who have not cleared the NET. The Fellowships carry an annual contingency Grant of Rs. 12,000 and have a tenure 3 Years.

ICSSR is considering revision of the tenure and emoluments; pending such revision, CDS has augmented this scheme to provide stipend @ Rs. 6,000 for all and an additional fourth year.

Further, ICSSR has earmarked one fellowship for University / College Teachers which will have a tenure of two years and with salary protection.

CDS Endowment Fellowships:

Two fellowships under the National Research Program on Plantation Development, funded by the Government of India Ministry of Commerce, are available to selected scholars who plan to work on aspects of Plantation Development.

These Fellowships have a maximum tenure of four years; emoluments are presently at ICSSR rates, but are likely to be revised.

Selected scholars can avail of the UGC's JRF and the RGNF for SC / ST candidates, if awarded such fellowships by the UGC. The schemes provide fellowship @ Rs. 12,000 for the first two years and @ Rs. 14,000 for the final three years.

Selected scholars from SC / ST communities of Kerala can seek assistance under the Government of Kerala Fellowship Scheme which is of UGC Fellowship tenure and 75% of UGC rates.

Selection Process:

The selection process has two phases:

First, candidates will be short - listed for Interview on the basis of their scores for Academic Record and Study Proposal.

1. Evaluation of the Research Proposal by a faculty panel.

2. Score for the Academic Record on a weighted scheme:

(2 x % of marks for the +2 course) + (3 x % marks for Bachelor's) + (5 x % of Marks for Master's) + (5 x % of marks for MPhil). Coursework grades will be reckoned for those awaiting award of MPhil Degree.

Final selection will be based on a personal Interview by the Admission Committee, comprising of CDS faculty as well as an ICSSR nominee.

The Committee shall base its recommendations on an assessment of the viability of the proposed study, whether it can be undertaken at CDS and the candidate's aptitude and capability to undertake the study.

Applicants are encouraged to take note of the current areas of research and research interests of the faculty at CDS.

The Personal Interviews are scheduled at CDS on 07 January 2010.
Selected candidates shall join the Program on or before February 01, 2010.
