IIST Post Doctoral Fellowship - July 2011

Applications have been invited by Indian Institute of Space Science, Trivandrum from highly motivated candidates for admission to the Post Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) Programme starting in July 2011 in the areas of Avionics, Physics, Chemistry and Earth & Space Sciences.

Eligibility: Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D in the relevant area and first class or equivalent in the Master’s Degree. Candidates who were awarded Ph.D before 01.07.2006 are not eligible to apply.
Age Limit: 32 years as on 30th June 2011. Age relaxation applicable as per Govt. of India Rules.
Nationality: Applicant should be an Indian citizen.

Research Fellowship:
1. IIST-PDF Fellowship will be Rs. 40,000/- pm (all inclusive).
2. PDF Scholars will be required to assist the department in research and laboratory related activity.
3. The Fellows are encourages to publish their research findings in reputed journals jointly with collaborating faculty, following established practices of paper authorship and publications. At the end of the tenure the fellow will make a comprehensive monograph of the total research activity undertaken under the PDF programme.
4. During the tenure at IIST, the Post Doctoral Fellow will be governed by the leave and other administrative norms applicable to full time research scholars of IIST.

Kendriya Sainik Board, under the Ministry of Defence, has invited applications for selection of students for the seats in Medical/Dental Colleges as Government of India Nominee under Ministry of Defence Quota.

There are approximately 25 to 29 seats in Medical Colleges and 1 seat in Dental College (subject to allotment of seats by Ministry of Health) for sons/ daughters/ widows of Armed Forces personnel of the following categories of Defence Personnel as per the Priority shown against each.

(a) Killed in action: Priority-I

(b) Disabled in action and Boarded out from service with disability attributable to Military Service: Priority-II

(c) Died while in service and death attributable to Military service: Priority-III

B.A.(H.) Journalism Entrance Test 2011



University of Delhi, New Delhi

The B.A. (Hons.) Journalism course was started in the University of Delhi in the year 1989. Delhi College of Arts and Commerce was the first to start this prestigious course and today five colleges of the University of Delhi are proud to offer the same which include Delhi College of Arts and Commerce, Kamala Nehru College, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Kalindi College and Maharaja Agrasen College.

During its short but brilliant history, the course has carved a niche for itself and continues to be one of the most sought after courses of the University of Delhi. The overall goal is to realise not only the professional but the intellectual and creative growth of students and develop a vibrant chord with the media industry.

Eligibility :
The candidate should have either passed or appeared in the Senior Secondary School Examination of CBSE or any other examination considered equivalent by the University of Delhi. The candidate should secure an aggregate of at least 70% marks in his/her class XII examination (65% for SC, ST, CW and PWD categories) in best of four papers including English and three other academic subjects as specified by the University of Delhi*. The candidate should also have secured at least 60% marks in English.

The candidate should have obtained pass mark in each of the four papers considered for computing the aggregate in the above mentioned subjects.

The candidate must produce the confirmed result and mark sheet of the qualifying examination on the day of the Personal Interview to be eligible for the process of admission to the Journalism course. Candidates who do not have the confirmed mark sheet will not be entertained under any circumstances.

The reserved category certificates of OBC (of Central List & non creamy layer), SC, ST, PWD, and CW, as applicable, in the name of the candidate, must be produced on the day of the interview. Compartment cases of current year will not be considered for admission.

Candidates who have appeared in the class XII examination in 2011 and who repeat a paper for improvement to gain eligibility shall not be considered for admission in the current year.

Foreign nationals seeking admission to B. A. (Hons.) Journalism against the prescribed quota of seats earmarked for them, shall have to apply through the Foreign Students Advisor, C/o Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, Delhi – 110 007 and are exempted from the written examination and Interview.

Those foreign students who have acquired their minimum qualification for admission from any Indian Board, in India have to apply directly as General category candidate. They have to appear for the entrance test like general category candidates and follow the same selection process as applicable to general category and in addition fill up the foreign student application form of FSR office (downloadable from: http://www.du.ac.in/forms/foreignstudents1.pdf). All admission of foreign students are channeled through the Foreign Students Registry (FSR) office of University of Delhi.

Post Doctoral Research Fellowship Programme 2011



Mote Marine Laboratory, USA

Mote Marine Laboratory (Mote), an independent not-for-profit institution established in 1955, has recently adopted a new 2020 Vision & Strategic Plan that includes as one of Mote’s four core priorities, “Ensure the long-term prosperity of the research enterprise through focused staff recruitment and nurturing programs.” In order to address this specific priority, a new Mote Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program is being established with an initial goal of recruiting two such positions in late 2011.

New Postdoctoral Fellows are expected to begin between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31, 2011. Each full-time position includes:
