ADMISSION CATEGORIES
The applicant for admission to the Ph.D. programme shall be classified under any one of the following categories which will be decided and recommended by DRC/CRC.

(I) Full-time Research student/Candidate
a) Research student/Candidate getting Institute MHRD assistantship.
b) Research student/Candidate including foreign nationals getting financial support from Govt. / Semi Govt. agencies (QIP, CSIR, UGC, DAE, DST, DBT,
NBHM, JEST, ICCR, NDF, etc.)
c) Research student/Candidate including foreign nationals supported by a sponsoring organization, the applicant (Sponsored Research Student/ Candidate)
having TWO years experience out of which at least ONE year experience with the sponsoring agency.
d) Self Financed Research student/Candidate
—Indian: This category refers to persons with experience and with good track record to join the doctoral programme. They will be admitted along with the
regular research students through the usual admission procedure.
—Foreign: Admission of Foreign nationals to Ph.D. programme will be made as per policy and direction of the Govt. of India from time to time
—Study Leave: This category refers to persons who are released from governmental or educational institutions on study leave for a period of not less than three
years for pursuing Ph.D. programme. They will be admitted along with the regular research students through the usual admission procedure.
*e) Research student / Candidate regularly working full time in an R & D project at IITR. His Ph.D. topic is in confirmation to the project as certified by the SRC.

II) Part-time Research Student/ Candidate:
a) Research student/Candidate working as a regular employee in the Institute
*b) Research student / Candidate working regularly full-time in an R&D project in the institute. The project must have tenure of at least next 2 years.
c) Research student / Candidate working in other organizations / institutes, approved by IIT Roorkee as Research Centre or having MoU for research
purposes.
* The research student / candidate working in a project will be given full time status, provided his research for Ph.D. is related to the project as certified by the
SRC. However, part time research student/candidate may be given full time status when the project tenure is completed.

ADMISSION ELIGIBILITY
1. An applicant belonging to the above admission categories should possess the following qualifications in appropriate areas to be eligible to apply for admission for the Ph.D. programme of the Institute.
a) Masters degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Urban & Rural Planning / Pharmacy / Computer Applications of 3 years duration after graduation in respective discipline or equivalent with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.00 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institute wherever letter grades are awarded; or 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) where marks are awarded.
OR
b) Masters degree in Sciences/Humanities & Social Sciences/ Management in respective discipline or equivalent with a valid NET or valid GATE or valid GPAT score and minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.00 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institute where letter grades are awarded; or 60% marks where marks are awarded.
OR
c) B.Tech. / B.Arch. degree or equivalent in respective discipline with excellent academic record (with a minimum CGPA of 7.0 on a 10 point scale or equivalent or 70% marks) and in possession of a valid GATE score.

2. The admission eligibility requirements may be relaxed to 5.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent, or to 55% marks to the following categories:
a. SC/ST candidates with Master’s degree.
b. Any category of PD (Persons with disabilities) Candidate holding B.Tech. degree or equivalent degree.
c. Academic staff of the Institute who has an experience of more than 5 years.

3. Eligibility for Part-time Ph.D.
a) The applicant possesses the minimum entry qualifications for the degree as given in admission eligibility point 1;
b) The applicant proves that his official duties permit him to devote sufficient time to research;
c) He / She will be required to reside at the Institute for a period of not less than 6 months during his/her registration for the degree. (This condition of minimum
residence period will be automatically waived for candidates who are working in Roorkee or in Organizations / institutions located within a distance of 100 km
from the Institute).
d) The facility of part time registration will also be available to all employees of the IIT Roorkee or candidates working in organizations having MoU with IITR
or organizations approved by IIT Roorkee as Research Centres. Such applicants are exempted from the requirement of having valid GATE/NET/GPAT.
e) The applicants must have been in continuous service with the sponsoring organization for at least two years at the time of submitting the application form
for admission.
f) The candidates working in Institute/University awarding Ph.D. degree itself are not eligible for admission as part-time candidate.
4. Employee seeking admission to the Ph.D. programme with minimum of two years service in an organization or confirmed regular employee may obtain and
submit ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the employer to the effect that the duties allotted by the employer will allow the required time for this pursuit.

HOW TO APPLY
• The candidate is required to download Bank Challan Proforma alongwith aplication form from www.iitr.ernet.in/admissions and then deposit the requisite fee of Rs. 200/- in any branch of Punjab National Bank throughout the country. The Bank Challan will be printed in triplicate. It is only available on Institute website and pay the fees through it. Bank will retain a copy and will return two copies to you. In those two copies, retain the Candidate’s copy with you and attach the IITR’s copy with the application form. OR
In case Punjab National Bank Branch is not available at his/her place or nearby place, then send the demand draft of Rs.200/- in favour of Chairman PG admission, IIT Roorkee payable at Roorkee. The completed application form should be sent to Chairman, PG Admission, IIT Roorkee.

The Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISER), Mohali has invited application for admission to the PhD Course in the areas of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Earth & Environment Science for the Session beginning in January 2012.

Admission to the doctoral program is open for candidates with a Master's degree in science. Besides the students of the Integrated Master's program, Postgraduate students with a Master's degree in science from other Universities/Institutes will also be admitted to the doctoral program. Under special circumstances, exceptional candidates with B.Tech/B.E. degree will also be considered for admission. Applicants to the PhD program are required to have at least a high second class in MSc and should have qualified a national level test such as GATE / NET / JEST / ICMR / DBT(and any other national level examination that the IISER Senate decides to recognize from time to time) or should have completed MTech through GATE, and will be selected through an interview process.

a) A certificate in original from the Principal of their Institute stating they will have appeared for examination in all subjects required for obtaining their qualifying degree.

b) A certificate in original from the Principal certifying that they have obtained requisite marks based on latest available grades / marks. Marks to be calculated as per item (1) above.

Their admission will be confirmed only when they submit the mark sheet and a certificate of having passed the qualifying examination with requisite marks. They must submit proof of passing their final examinations with requisite marks. Non-fulfillment of this condition will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.

3. Candidates with qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance-learning programmes are eligible only if (a) they acquired such qualifications as working professionals / while in employment, (b) the programmes are recognized by the DEC- IGNOU for M.A./M.Sc. and DEC-UGC-AICTE or MHRD for others, (c) they have passed the qualifying examination at the time of applying, with minimum requisite marks, calculated as per item (1) above. They must enclose photocopies of (i) work experience certificate (ii) pass certificate and mark sheets of qualifying examination with their application.

2. For M.S. and PG Diploma programmes: Candidates must hold a B. Pharm degree from a PCI and AICTE approved Institute / MBBS / BVSc / BDS / BAMS / M.Sc. Life Sciences degree from a recognized University. Candidates must have a first class or minimum 60% marks in average (45% for SC/ST) in graduation / postgraduation (QE). In case the examining Board does not award a class, the percentage marks in graduation / postgraduation will be computed as average of marks obtained in all subjects in which candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects).

3. Candidates must be GPAT qualified for the M. Pharm programme in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognosy and Pharmacology. Non-GPAT candidates may also apply for the M. Pharm programme in Clinical Research, and Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs, M.S. Clinical Research & Pharmacovigilance, Postgraduate Diploma in Bioanalytical Techniques, Pharmacovigilance. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification of any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislatures in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India/AIU. This degree must entail a minimum of three years of education (10+2+3 system) after completing higher secondary schooling (Class 12 or equivalent).

2. Candidates of B.Sc. / B.A. Honours must have minimum 55% marks in average (45% for SC/ST) in their Honours subject. Candidates of other graduate courses must have minimum 55% marks in average (45% for SC/ST) in graduation, marks to be computed as average of marks obtained in ALL subjects in which candidate has appeared (excluding optional subjects).

3. Candidates appearing for final examinations of their Bachelor’s programme in 2011 can also apply, provided they have obtained 55 % marks or equivalent (45% marks in case of SC/ST candidates) based on latest available grades / marks at the time of applying, and if selected can join the programme provisionally. At the time of the counselling they must bring the following:

a. A certificate in original from the Principal of their Institute stating that by 30 June 2010, they will have appeared for examination in all subjects required for obtaining their Bachelor’s degree.

b. A certificate in original from the Principal certifying that they have obtained 55% marks or equivalent (45% marks in case of SC/ST candidates) based on latest available grades / marks. Marks to be calculated as per item (2) above. Their admission will be confirmed only when they submit the mark sheet and a certificate of having passed the Bachelor's degree / equivalent qualification with at least 55% marks (45% in case of SC/ ST). They must submit proof of passing their final examinations with requisite marks. Non-fulfillment of this condition will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.

4. Candidates with qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance-learning programmes are eligible only if (a) they acquired such qualifications as working professionals / while in employment, (b) the programmes are recognized by the DEC-IGNOU, (c) they have passed the qualifying examination at the time of applying, with minimum 55% marks in average (45% for SC/ST) calculated as per item (2) above. They must enclose photocopies of

(i) work experience certificate

(ii) pass certificate and mark sheets of qualifying examination with their application.

PROGRAMME
The IIFM stands in a position to meet the requirements of the changing scenario in the forestry, environment, development, and allied sectors. It is constantly striving to update itself and accordingly respond to the needs of all concerned stakeholders. Given the emerging, and much-needed, emphasis on environmental sustainability, climate change, carbon trading, green finance, corporate social environmental responsibility, biodiversity conservation and natural resource management, IIFM suitably modifies its focus, activity frame and course structure to successfully meet these needs. All these activities not only require man power, possessing a desired blend of skills pertaining to forestry, environment & development with management science but also need the professional assistance and guidance for capacity building, project implementation and monitoring. Therefore, IIFM through its educational, training, research and consultancy activities has planned to endeavor to meet this emerging need.

Accordingly, a Doctoral level Programme titled the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) for people who need specialized knowledge, skills, and attitudes for positions requiring conceptual and visioning skills. The Fellow Programme is an important step in that direction. The FPM is approved by AICTE.


The FPM is a doctoral program designed to develop and equip students for career opportunity in management education and research in the following faculty areas of specialization:
· Communication and Extension Management
· Ecosystem and Environment Management
· Environment and Developmental Economics
· Financial Management
· Human Resource Management
· Information Technology and Quantitative Techniques
· Marketing Management
· Sociology and Community Development
· Technical Forestry

Objectives
The main objectives of the FPM are:

(i) To develop researchers and scholars in the field of management;
(ii) To create a body of knowledge; and
(iii) To stimulate research / action research work in Natural Resource Management.

FPM Eligibility and Admission Procedure:
Eligibility
Candidates must not be more than 45 year as on 1st July 2012 and must qualify the following eligibility tracks :

1. A Bachelors Degree with atleast 50 percent marks, and

2. Masters degree (minimum two years prescribed duration after 10+2+3 years of formal education) in relevant discipline (relevancy has to be decided by the IIFM) with at least 55% marks including Five year/Four year Integrated masters Degree programme and with good academic records.

4 year/8 Semester B.Tech/B.E with60% Marks or Equivalent OGPA.

Professional qualification like CA, ICWA, CS with atleast 55% marks.

For IIFM Graduates, who have done PGDFM and IIM graduates who have done PGDM, the minimum OGPA of 3.00 in 4.33 maximum scale, is required.

For MRM Post graduates from IIFM, with 3.00 CGPA.

Note: For those qualifications where the above 4.33 scale is not available, the eligibility will be decided by the Equivalence Committee constituted by the Director, IIFM and its decision will be final.


Admission Procedure
Selection of candidates is through a two-stage process.

A. Screening test
Eligible candidates with any one of the following score will be called directly for Group Discussion and Personal Interview :-

i) IIM CAT/GMAT(scores of two years old with required cut off) as decided by the IIFM
ii) UGC-CSIR-JRF/NET (scores not older than five years) in relevant area of specialisation.
iii) GATE (scores not older than five years)
iv) ICAR NET (scores not older than 5 years)
v) FRI entrance test for PhD (two years old)
vi) Candidates who have already obtained a PGDFM/PGDM from IIFM/IIM with a minimum of OGPA of 3.00
vii) Candidates who have obtained MRM from IIFM with 3.00 CGPA.
viii) All India and allied services officers, officers in scale II of Nationalized Bank, officers of equivalent rank of PSU

Candidates who fulfil the required eligibility given above and do not have any of the above qualifying tests, but have five years experience post their respective eligible degree will have to qualify the internal test designed by IIFM for the GD and PI.


B. Interview and Personal Discussion
A. Candidate will be called to Bhopal for interview and personal discussion, as per the screening criteria decided by the IIFM.
B. Final selection will be based on criteria as decided from time to time by the Institute.
C. The students will be admitted in a specific area of specialization related to the existing faculty areas of the Institute.
D. At present maximum eight students can be admitted each year.

Financial Assistance

A) Monthly Fellowship
Each student would be given a monthly fellowship of Rs. 12,000/- in first and second year , Rs. 14,000/- in third and fourth year and for extended one year (if applicable) during the program.

This assistance is not available to the sponsored candidates. In case of candidates who will be getting salary from sponsorer, if the salary is less than the prescribed monthly fellowship, then the difference can be made good from fellowship provisions.

B) Contingency Grant
The students would also be provided (on reimbursable basis) with a contingency grant up to Rs. 20,000/- per year for all the four years (three years for IIFM graduates) for purchasing relevant books, journals, stationery, computer accessories, academic tour and travels, photocopying expenses etc.

The unspent amount of the contingency grant in any year may be carried forward till the end of the fourth year.

C) General
The students cannot take any other financial benefits from IIFM, like research projects or centers of the IIFM or from outside.

The student is required to sign a bond with the IIFM that if he/she discontinues the Fellow programme for any reason, then the entire amount of fellowship and contingency amount received shall be refunded by them.

Hostel and Alumni Membership Fees
The students have to pay hostel rent (if hostel facility is provided), mess charges and alumni membership as decided by the IIFM from time to time. The mess charges will be on actual basis. Presently, the mess is run by the students themselves.

Eligibility for Admission:

Criteria for Selection
Admission into all MPhil courses shall be done through an entrance test followed by an interview. The Test shall comprise of one paper of 100 marks (50 marks Objective Type Questions and 50 marks for short-answer type questions) of two hour duration. The Question Paper shall cover all the papers taught at the Post-Graduate level of the concerned subject of Berhampur University. However, for admission into MPhil Course for Women’s Studies the course will cover broad areas relating to Women’s Studies. The candidates should secure minimum 50% of marks in the entrance test (40% of marks for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) in order to be eligible to appear at the interview. The selection for admission into MPhil Courses shall be made on the basis of the career marks and the marks secured in the interview.
