ADMISSION NOTICE (PGDC CET 2008)

13TH Batch Post Graduate Diploma in Thermal Power Plant Engineering (2008-09)

Recognised by “All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)” & covers mandatory requirements under Indian Electricity (Amendment) Rules,1981.

WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN? The main aim of the course is to develop a pool of technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the Indian Power Sector. Besides, the course shall enhance the knowledge and skills of the engineers sponsored by the State Electricity Boards, Power Utilities etc.

ABOUT THE COURSE: This is a modular type course of one year duration. Formal coaching is held at Regional Institutes of NPTI located at Badarpur (New Delhi), Nagpur, Durgapur and Neyveli. On job training is conducted at the nearby Thermal Power Stations and the training on state of the art simulator, at NPTI, Faridabad/Badarpur/Nagpur. The course profile covers the mandatory requirements under Indian Electricity Amendment Rules, 1981, which stipulates “No person shall be authorised to operate or undertake maintenance of any part or whole of generating station of capacity 100 MW and above together with the associated sub-station unless he is adequately qualified and has undergone the specified training at a recognised Institute”.

ELIGIBILITY: B.E. or equivalent in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Power/ Control & Instrumentation Engineering. Those appearing in their final year examination can also apply. They must submit their result at the time of counseling.

SELECTION CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION: Merit based on a Common Entrance Test (CET) followed by counselling. CET will be held on 15.06.2008 at Delhi, Nagpur, Durgapur, Banglore and Neyveli.

AGE LIMIT : For non-sponsored candidates the age limit as on 31.8.2008 is 30 years. No age limit for the sponsored candidate.

TOTAL SEATS: 200 (Fifty seats at each Regional Institute). Reservation for SC/ST/Physically challenged as per Govt. of India Norms. 25% seats are reserved for candidates sponsored from Power utilities having more than one year experience and more than 65% marks in Engineering Degree.

PLACEMENT: To provide career opportunities in the Indian Power Sector, NPTI shall maintain close linkages with Power Utilities and reputed companies for employment of these trained engineers. Most of the students of previous batches were placed decently in reputed Power sector companies.

HOW TO APPLY: Application on plain paper along with the Demand Draft of Rs. 700/- in favour of NPTI payable at New Delhi should reach the Principal Director, National Power Training Institute (NR), Badarpur, New Delhi-110044 with three passport size photographs (with name written on backside) latest by 05.05.2008 in the following format, 1. Name (in capital letters), 2. Father’s Name, 3. Date of birth & age as on 31.08.2008, 4. Sex, 5. Marital status, 6. Nationality, 7. Whether SC/ST/PH, 8. Postal Address(in capital letters) , 9. Contact telephone No., 10. Email Id, 11. Educational Qualifications starting from 12TH standard stating subjects, college/Institution, % of marks, year of passing, 12. Sponsored/Non-sponsored (if sponsored, attach certificate from employer), 13. Choice of centre for CET, 14. Choice of Institute for formal coaching in order of preference 15. Signature. Attach attested copies of proof of item 3, 7, 11 & 12.

COURSE FEE: For non-sponsored candidates: Rs. 1,00,000/- (in three installments). For candidates sponsored from SEBs/ PSUs/ Private Utilities Rs. 1,40,000/- lump-sum at the time of admission. There is no fee concession for any category of candidates.

COURSE FEE FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS:
SAARC Countries: US$ 7,000/-
Other Countries: US$ 8,000/-

The cost of Transportation to industries/power stations is to be borne by the participants.

LODGING/ BOARDING: Hostel Facilities is provided on first come first served basis, subject to availability on nominal charges. Separate hostel for girl candidates
