Applications are invited from women candidates for admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing Course commencing from 16th July 2008. Prospectus & prescribed application forms for the session 2008-2009 can be obtained from College of Nursing, LHMC & associated Hospitals New Delhi by submitting attested copies of 12th Class Mark Sheet & 10th Class Certificate for age proof and on submission of Demand Draft/Banker's Cheque amounting to Rs.250/- (Rupees Two Hundred Fifty Only) Payable at new Delhi favouring "The Director, LHMC & Associated Hospitals New Delhi". Application forms can be obtained either in person or by post. (If requested by post, request for admission forms should reach before 29.05.2008. Enclosed self addressed and stamped envelop size 30x20cm.)

The Prospectus & Admission form for admission to B.Sc(Hons) Nsg. Course can also be downloaded from Ministry of health & Family Welfare Website - mohfw.nic.in and the same may be submitted alongwith the Demand draft/ Banker cheque as per details mentioned above.

A candidate seeking admission to College of Nursing, shall submit completed application on the
prescribed form Annexure I & II.

Admission Requirements:
Age: Minimum Age requirement is 17 years by 1st October, 2008.
Senior School Certificate Examination or Indian School Certificate Examination (12 Year Course) or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto with 50% or more marks (45% or more marks for SC/ST/OBC) in the aggregate of four subjects including English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology provided the student has passed in each subjects separately.

The reservation for S/C, S/T & OBC candidates will be as per Government Rules out of the Total No. of seats made available for admission.

Dates for sale of Admission forms: 20th May 2008 to 31st May, 2008 between 10.00 AM To 12.00 NOON on all working days.

Date for receipt of completed application forms till 04the June, 2008 till 4.00 PM.

Admission will be made on the basis of merit based on written selection test to be held on 28th June, 2008 (Saturday) 2.00 PM 4.00 PM at venue mentioned in the admission ticket.

NOTE: Incomplete applications will not be entertained and no further correspondence will be made in this regard. No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the test. It is in the interest of the candidates to send their application through Registered/Speed Post to avoid any delay.

The college of Nursing Lady Hardinge Medical College and Associated Hospitals, New Delhi is pioneer institute for nursing education in India. It was started as a school of nursing in 1916 and was upgraded to college of nursing in Sep 2007 with the initiative and financial support of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The College of Nursing is academically affiliated to University of Delhi and is recognized by Indian Nursing Council.

The primary objective of the college is to improve the quality of nursing education keeping in mind the growing need for quality nursing care.

The prestigious medical college has two Associate Hospitals, Smt Sucheta Kriplani Hospital (formerly Lady Hardinge Hospital) and Kalawati Saran Children Hospital from where the students gain excellent practical experience.

Course of studies
The College of Nursing offers B.Sc.(Hons.) Nursing Course of 4 years duration.

Admission:
Regular admissions are made in the month of July each year. The number of admissions shall be according to the number of seats available. At present 50 seats are available. There will be reservation of seats for S/C, S/T & OBC candidates as per Government policies (In event of non-availability of eligible candidates, the seats thus remaining vacant will be open to eligible General candidates).

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION.
1. Minimum Qualification
a) Candidate seeking admission to First Year B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing course must have passed the Examination as listed below: Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination/Indian School Certificate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent from recognized Board with a minimum of 50% in aggregate or more marks in the aggregate of four subjects including English Core Elective, Physics, Chemistry and Biology provided the student has passed in each subject separately.
b) Minimum age requirement is 17 year as on 1st October, 2008. The Vice-Chancellor may, however, on the basis of individual merit relax the age up to a maximum period of one year.
c) Only women candidates are eligible for the course.
d) Working knowledge of Hindi is necessary.

Procedure for forwarding an application:
A candidate seeking admission in B.Sc.(Hons.) course shall submit an application on the prescribed form ( Annexture 1 of prospectus) obtainable from the office of the “College of Nursing” Smt. Sucheta Kriplani Hospital, New Delhi on payment of Rs.250.00 by Demand Draft/Bankers’ Cheques favouring “The Director, Lady Hardinge Medical College & Associated Hospitals, New Delhi.”
The application should be accompanied by:
(a) 12th (10+2) Class pass Certificate - Attested copy
(b) Proof of Age (10th Clas Certificate - Attested copy
(c) Mark Sheet of 10th & 12th Class - Attested copy
(d) Conduct certificate from the Principal of the last School attended.
(e) Letter of authority from parent (From Guardian if parents are not alive) expressing their willingness to join the course.
(f) Letter of authority from parent stating the name of local guardian with address and telephone Number (LL/MOB.)
(g) Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/OBC Certificate from a Divisional Magistrate If applicable.
(h) Self Addressed envelope with Rs. 18/- stamp affixed.
(i) Acknowledgement card with address of candidate and Rs.3/- stamp affixed.
(j) Legal document in case of widow/Divorcee. (Attested copy).
(k) Admission ticket with candidate’s Name and Father’s Name filled by candidate and with candidate’s signature are to be sent in duplicate with 2 passport size unattested photographs affixed (same copies as on the Form).
(l) Passport size photograph affixed on Form duly signed by the candidate and attested by the Principal of the School last attended or a Gazetted Officer. Attestation signature and seal should be half on the photograph and half on the form.

NOTE: Any ambiguity erases/unattested copies/ false information/ concealment of information detected in the requisite certificates will result in the, cancellation of the candidature of the candidate at any stage of selection and/or during the course of study.

2. Method of Selection
All candidates will be required to appear for written selection test, (The test will consist of objective type questions in English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Knowledge).

Admission ticket of eligible candidates will be dispatched by 21st June, 2008. No admission ticket will be issued to ineligible candidates or if application is incomplete. (If the candidate does not receive the admission ticket by 25th June, 2008 she may contact the College Office personally on 26th June, 2008 between 10.00 AM to 04.00 PM. for clarification).

The test will be held on Saturday the 28th June, 2008 at 02.00 PM in New Delhi as per the venue indicated in the Admission ticket. The written selection test will be of two hours duration and will be based on Senior Secondary School Certificate (10+2) Curriculum of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and shall also include, some items on English Comprehension and general knowledge in health.

The result of written selection test will be displayed on the College on the Main Gate of College of Nursing on 04.07.2008 at 04.00 PM. Each candidate is responsible to see the selection test result personally. (No official correspondence or telephone information will be given in this regard).

The list of selected candidates will be displayed separately in order of merit equal to the number of seats available for admission on 04.07.2008 at 04.00 PM. The candidate should deposit their fee and claim their seat through admission till 09.07.2008 by 04.00 PM.

The 1st waiting list will be displayed on 10.07.2008 at 10.00 AM comprising the number of seats vacant. (To be filled by 14.07.2008 by 04.00 PM. The 2nd waiting list will be displayed on 15.07.2008 at 10.00 AM comprising double the number of vacant seats.

In case of candidates securing marks equal in written test the merit will be decided on the basis of higher marks obtained in 12th Board Examination firstly and secondly age of the candidates.

The candidates will be required to bring original certificates on admission and deposit in College of Nursing (till training is completed) failing which the candidature will be cancelled.

Date of commencement of Academic Session: 16.07.2008.

Date of closure of all admissions:
Admission will be provisional till the candidate is declared medically fit by the board of medical examination constituted by College Authorities. It candidate is found medically unfit, her admission shall stand cancelled with immediate effect. Candidate should not have any functional disability, pregnancy, any communicable disease, Heart disease, Epilepsy or any other major medical problem.

Hostel accommodation will be provided from the day the academic session commences.
The following items are to be brought at the time of admission:
1. Personal clothing and toilet requisitions.
2. Bedding (Pillows, sheets, blankets/quilt mattress),
3. A reliable wrist watch with seconds hand,
4. A plastic or canvas laundry bag,
5. Bulb/tube light & Lock.

Hostel/Mess
Residing in the Hostel is compulsory. Hostel accommodation will be provided from the day the academic session starts. Free furnished double seated accommodation is provided. Membership in the mess is compulsory. Mess charges (Rs.800/- p.m. subject to amendment) are to be paid in advance on the first day of every month and at the time of admission. Students have to abide by the hostel rules.

Stipend:
During fourth year (internship year) B.Sc.(Hons.) Nursing students receive an amount of Rs. 500/- per month as internship allowance from the Government.
