IIST Admission 2009 - 2010

IIST Announces admission for the following 4-year Bachelor Degree Programmes:



B.Tech. (Avionics)
B.Tech. (Aerospace)
B.Tech. (Physical Sciences)



Eligibility & Admission Process: Candidates placed in the Regular and Extended Merit List of IIT-JEE 2009 are eligible to register their names online during the period 4th June to 26th June 2009.
Based on the online registration and in the order of merit, a combined list of students from the Regular Merit List and Extended List will be generated. Those who have opted for any programme in any of the IITs or the affiliated instistutions like IT BHU Varanasi, ISMU Dhanbad, etc will not be included in the IIST Merit List. Extant Reservation Policy of the Govt. as applicable to Instistutions of Higher Learning will be followed.
Allocation of seats will be based on Personal Counselling to be held on 20th & 21st July 2009 at Thiruvananthapuram.
How to Apply : Interested candidates have to do online registration. The link for online registration will appear in the IIST website.

Important Dates:


4th - 26th June 2009 Online Registration of students placed in the IIT-JEE 2009 Merit List.
29th June 2009 Publication of Merit List for Counselling in IIST Website.
20th & 21st July 2009 Counselling at Thiruvananthapuram and issue of Admit card.
24th & 25th August 2009 Admission formalities at Thiruvananthapuram.
26th August 2009 First Semester Classes begin.

The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), which is declared as Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, was set up under Department of Space, Goverment of India, and offers undergraduates B Tech programme in Avionics, Aerospace Engineering and five year integrated masters in Applied Sciences. IIST also offers post graduate and doctoral programmes to meet the requirements of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). In addition to the regular curriculum, the courses will have special modules tailored to space technology and space science. IIST focuses on high-end research activities with the country's space programmes and related innovative ventures. The Institute provides a full fledged infrastructure of International standards to develop an excellent academic and research atmosphere. The academic programme for the year 2007-2008 started in a full fledged alternate campus adjacent to the world renowned Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre at Thiruvananthapuram. Development of permanent campus near Thiruvananthapuram, has been initiated and is expected to be realized in the next one year.
