Cardiovascular & Neurosurgical Anaesthesiology, Neuro & Vascular Radiology, Vascular Surgery
3. Ph.D: in Biochemistry, Biomaterials, Biomedical Engineering / Instrumentation, Cellular & Molecular Cardiology, Epidemiology, Health Economics, Health Policy, Gender Issues in Health, Implant Biology, Health System, Neurobiology, Neurology, Pathology, Polymer Sciences, Radiology, Toxicology and Thrombosis Research.

In the departments of Cardiology, Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Neurology.
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION FOR ENTRY:
DM Cardiology & Neurology: MD in General Medicine or Paediatrics or equivalent qualification. Candidates with MD in Psychiatry with a minimum of six months residency posting in General Medicine and Neurology during the said course can also apply for DM Neurology. One seat in DM Cardiology is reserved for candidates with MD Paediatrics or equivalent qualification.
DM Neuroradiology : MD or equivalent qualification in Radiology/ Radiodiagnosis.
DM Anaesthesia : MD or equivalent qualification in Anaesthesia
M.Ch. Courses: MS in General Surgery or equivalent qualification for 3-year courses and MBBS with one year Post-registration Senior Residency/ Senior House Surgeoncy in General Surgery from a University/PG institute/Teaching Hospital recognized by the MCI/DNB for General Surgery Post Doctoral Training, for 5 year course in Neurosurgery.
Post-doctoral Certificate Courses: MD in Anaesthesiology / Diagnostic Radiology, M S i n General Surgery or equivalent qualification.
PhD: Candidates with Post graduate degree in Physics / Chemistry / Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Physiology / Zoology or any other branch of life sciences (excluding plant sciences), M.Tech in Polymer Technology / Material Science / Biomedical Engineering /Instrumentation or Post graduate degree in Public Health, Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Veterinary Sciences and Social Sciences at least 60% marks can pply. Selection will be on the basis of performance in a Written test / Interview. Those who hold UGC - CSIR/ ICMR fellowship can directly appear for the interview
Master of Public Health: Medical graduates (after MBBS), Dental graduates, graduates in Veterinary sciences, Nursing sciences or students with a postgraduate degree in Social sciences, Nutrition or allied specialties will be considered for selection. Prospective candidates will be evaluated on the basis of educational qualifications, professional experience relevant to the field of health, a brief write-up to be submitted by them and interview.
Post-DM / MCh Fellowship: DM / MCh (3 year) or equivalent qualification. (Those who will qualify by 31st December 2009 may also apply)

(i) Diploma in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Nursing
(ii) Diploma in Neuro Nursing
7. Diploma Courses (Two years)
(i) Cardiac Laboratory Technology (ii) Operation Theatre Technology
(iii) Neuro Technology (iv) Advanced Medical Imaging Technology
(v) Medical Records Science (vi) Clinical Perfusion
(vii) Blood Banking Technology
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION FOR ENTRY:
Nursing Course:
(a) G.N.M. or B.Sc. Degree in Nursing
(b) For G.N.M. candidates, one year experience as a bed-side nurse after passing the course as on 1st of January 2010.
(c) Professionally registered as a nurse by any recognized State Nursing Council in India or by Nursing Boards approved by the Indian Nursing Council.
Diploma in Blood Banking Technology
B.Sc degree with Zoology or Physiology as major or ancillary subject and having an aggregate of at least 60% marks in these subjects.
Diploma in Cardiac Laboratory Technology
B.Sc. Degree with Physics as major or ancillary subject with an aggregate of at least 60% marks.
Diploma in Neuro Technology
B.Sc. Degree with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Bio-technology, Computer Science with 60 % marks.
Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology
A Diploma in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering or Instrumentation
Diploma in Advanced Medical Imaging Technology
Certificate in Radiographic Assistance (CRA) or equivalent qualification.
Diploma in Medical Records Science
B.Sc. Degree with Botany/Zoology/Statistics as major subject with an aggregate of at least 60 % marks.
Diploma in Clinical Perfusion.
B.Sc Degree with Zoology as major or ancillary subject with an aggregate of at least 60% marks
Note: Reservation of seats for SC/ST/OBC is as per Government of India norms. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and are applying for Diploma courses are required to secure only 50% in the qualifying examinations.
General Information
Upper age limit as on 1st January 2010 is 35 years for DM/M.Ch, PDCC Courses, Ph.D and Nursing Courses and 25 years for Diploma courses, relaxable by 5 years for ex-service personnel with a service of not less than 5 years, SC/ST and sponsored candidates. Two candidates can be admitted as SPONSORED, in addition to the usual number of seats, for each course, if sponsored by Government / Governmental agencies or Universities.
Candidates with more than two failures in the University or equivalent examinations are not eligible for admission. Admission will be based on the previous academic record of the candidates and their performance in the selection tests to be held in the Institute during November 2009.
All scholars will be provided with accommodation subject to availability of rooms in the hostel.
Prescribed forms for Application and Prospectus can be obtained by a written request accompanied by a Bank Draft for Rs.600/- drawn in favour of SCTIMST, Trivandrum, in case of Doctoral, M.P.H and Ph.D Programmes and a bank draft for Rs.250/ for other programmes. The request should contain the name and address of the candidate, course to which admission is sought and details of the Demand Draft. Application forms are NON - TRANSFERABLE. Applications will be accepted only with demand drafts for the respective amounts.
Requests and applications with incomplete information and those received after the last date are liable to be rejected. Further details can be had from the Prospectus.
