Christian Medical College, Vellore, India invites applications for the following programmes commencing in May/August 2010.
I. M Sc Degree in Nursing
II. B Sc Nursing for Trained Nurses
III. Fellowship in Nursing
IV. Post Basic Diploma Programmes in Nursing
Eligibility for Admission
I. M Sc DEGREE IN NURSING (2 YEARS)
Eligible for this programme is a candidate who
1. has completed BSc(N)/BSc Hons./Post Basic BSc Nursing with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.
2. has undergone a full time (regular stream not distance mode) programme in BSc (N)/ BSc Hons / Post Basic BSc(N) in an institution recognized by Indian Nursing
Council.
3. has minimum one year of work experience from the date of registration as Nurse and
Midwife after BSc Nursing (OR) after or prior to BSc Nursing for Trained Nurses
programme as on 30th April 2010 in any institution/hospital or as a full time Public Health Nurse.
4. has registered with the State Nursing Council for Nursing and Midwifery / alternate course (applicable for male candidates). These male candidates will not be able to apply for admission to MSc (N) - Obstetrics and Gynaecological / Community Health Nursing irrespective of their experience in the area.
5. is medically fit.
6. obtains the eligibility Certificate from the Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai at the time of registration.
II. B Sc NURSING FOR TRAINED NURSES (2 YEARS)
Eligible for this programme is a candidate who
1. is a Diplomate in Nursing after 12 years of schooling.
2. possess permanent registration certificates from the State Nursing Council for Nursing and Midwifery / alternate course (applicable to male candidates).
3. is medically fit.
4. obtains the Eligibility certificate from the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai at the time of registration.
SELECTION PROCESS
I. MSc NURSING, BSc NURSING FOR TRAINED NURSES, FELLOWSHIP IN NURSING AND POSE BASIC DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES IN NURSING
Candidates who have applied for MSc Nursing, BSc (N) for Trained Nurses, Fellowship in Nursing and Post Basic Diploma programmes in Nursing will appear for a written examination in the centre mentioned in the hall ticket. The short listed candidates called for the medical checkup and interview after the preliminary selection will be published in the website and intimated individually by post before the 2nd week of December 2009.
ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
All eligible candidates are required to undertake a written examination (multiple choice questions) on 28 November 2009. The examination will be conducted in the following cities - Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Trivandrum and Vellore. The candidates are expected to report 1/2 an hour before the examination at the centre with the hall ticket. The medium of the examination will be English.
APPLICATION FEE
I. M Sc Degree in Nursing = Rs.500/-
II. B Sc Nursing for Trained Nurses = Rs.450/-
III. Fellowship in Nursing = Rs.400/-
IV. Post Basic Diploma Programmes in Nursing = Rs.300/-
Application forms for the programmes can be obtained on request to: The Registrar, College of Nursing, Christian Medical College, Vellore-632 004, Taniilnadu, India either by hand or by sending the prescribed fee (as mentioned in the table above) as crossed denand draft drawn in favour of CMC Vellore Association payable at State Bank of India, Vellore Town Branch code 1618. (No other mode of payment will be accepted). APPLICATION form for which the programme desired must be specified.
