About College: The School of Planning and Architecture had a modest beginning in 1941 as a Department of Architecture of Delhi Polytechnic. It was later affiliated to the University of Delhi and integrated with the School of Town and Country Planning which was established in 1955 by the Government of India to provide facilities for rural, urban and regional planning. On integration, the School was renamed as School of Planning and Architecture in 1959.

Course Description: Master of Architecture (MArch) (Architectural Conservation)

Eligibility: Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture/Planning from a recognized university or equivalent.



Marks: Candidates with at least 55 percent marks in aggregate at the qualifying examination, 50% aggregate marks in respect of SC/ST candidates.



Note: A.I.I.A. (by examination) has been treated as equivalent to B. Arch.

Course Name: Doctorate of Philosophy PhD
Course Description: Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) (Fields of : Architecture, Planning, Urban Design, Industrial Design, Architectural Conservation, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Environmental Planning, Housing, Transport Planning, and Building Engineering & Management.) [Full-Time]

Eligibility: The applicants for admission to the full time Ph.D. Programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

(a) Master’s Degree in any of the courses conducted by the School or its equivalent conducted by any other recognized University/Institution with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

OR

Master’s Degree in allied disciplines from any recognized University/Institution with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks and ten years experience in teaching/research / professional practice in the area of proposed research.

(b) Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture/Planning of the School or its equivalent conducted by any other recognized University/Institution with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks and five years experience in teaching/research/professional practice.

OR

Bachelor’s Degree in allied disciplines from any recognized University/Institution with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks and ten years experience in teaching/research / Professional practice.



Selection Procedure: Selection of the candidate shall be made by the respective Departmental Research Committee (DRC) after giving due consideration to the qualifications and on interviewing the candidate. All the selections shall be collectively ratified in the Joint Committee of Departmental Research Committee (JCDRC). The Coordinator of Ph.D. Programme (CPP) shall finalist the list of candidates for admission to the Ph.D. Programmes.

Fellowship: All Scholars with a Master's Degree in the respective disciplines are eligible for fellowship of Rs.14, 000/- per month. Scholars with Bachelor's Degree in Architecture/ Planning of the School or its equivalent are eligible for the fellowship of Rs.12, 000/- per month as per Govt. of India (MHRD) rules. Part-time & in service candidates are not eligible for fellowship.

Intake: 3 (Three) seats each in all the departments.

FN/NRI/PIO (Foreign National (FN)-10%, (Non Resident Indian (NRI)-3% and Person of Indian Origin (PIO)-2%) may apply directly along with documents and registration fee of US dollar 300 (non-refundable). The candidates who have qualified from the foreign boards/universities and recognized as equivalent by the AIU shall be considered. In case of NRIs, who has studied abroad for five years in the last eight years of the stay and has passed the required qualifying examination from that country. Foreign nationals who are awarded Govt. of India scholarship under various schemes shall be given preference. Detailed guidelines may be obtained from the School.

RESERVATION OF SEATS: Reservations for all the courses will be applicable as per rules of the Government of India.
