About SHIATS
SHIATS is a Christian university which has 12,000 students, nine distinct faculties with close to 400 professors, a host of international links and cooperative programmes, and full accreditation by the NAAC (an autonomous body of the University Grants Commission). SHIATS is located on the banks of the Yamuna River. It is known particularly for its expertise and research in the fields of agriculture and technology. The university is the first institution in Asia and the fourth in the world to offer an Agriculture Engineering programme. Its contributions to the green revolution taking place in India are noteworthy.
This university is dedicated to the vision and mission of its founder Dr. Sam Higginbottom: Feed the Hungry, Serve the Land: Gospel and Plough. Yeshu Darbar (A Royal Court of Jesus) is held every day and is a great blessing for thousands of people who gather to hear the Word of God and ask for Christ’s blessing.
The university has expanded over the last twenty years and presently has a wide variety of disciplines in Science, Humanities, Media, Health, Veterinary Science, Education, Business Engineering and Theology. It's Gospel & Plough School of Theology has been preparing church leaders for the last decade. On December 21, 2005 (vide communication bearing reference D.O. No. F.20-71/2005-U-3) the Ministry of Human Resource Development of India has clarified that in terms of the provision under article no (I) of the Constitution of India, the University being a minority institution, may conduct its courses in theology in whatever mode it wants to, as it has the right to do so.
The Faculty of Theology library is well equipped with select recently-published acquisition. It also subscribes to EBSCO’s Online Theology Database-ATLA.
