ICMR in collaboration with PGIMER, Chandigarh will hold a National level examination for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF), for Indian national candidates at Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkatta Mumbai and Hyderabad on Sunday, July 13th, 2008.
A total of 150 Fellowships would be awarded; 120 fellowships awarded in Life Sciences stream (like microbiology, physiology, molecular biology, genetics, human biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biophysics, immunology, zoology, environmental sciences, botany, veterinary sciences etc), and thirty (30) fellowships in social sciences stream (like Psychology, Sociology, Home Science, Statistics, Anthropology and Social work).
Application form duly completed must reach the Registrar; Academic Section PGIMER, Chandigarh- 160012 by registered/Speed post on or before 25.4.2008. Candidate from remote areas /regions may submit their application forms duly completed latest by 2.5.2008.

Eligibility:
Educational: M.Sc/M.A or equivalent degree with minimum 55% marks for General/OBC Candidates and 50% for the SC/ST & physically handicapped (PH) candidates in the subjects mentioned above.
Candidates appearing in the final year examination (2007-2008) can also apply.

Age Limit: The upper age limit for admission to the eligibility test is 28 years as on 30-09-2008 (relaxable up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH/ female candidates and 3 years in the case of OBC.
Information bulletin containing the application form and other details will be available at PGIMER Website pgimer.nic.inand ICMR New Delhi website : www.icmr.nic.in . The candidates may apply in the downloaded form together with requisite fee by demand draft in the name of Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh. The prescribed application from along with Information brochure will also be available on cash payment (Not by Cheque or money order) from the office of Registrar, Academic Section,PGIMER,Chandigarh-160012 at the counter & ICMR, New Delhi from 24.03.2008 on payment of Rs. 500/- for General & OBC and Rs. 300/- for SC/ST/PH from 10.30AM to 12.30PM and from 2.30PM to 3.30 PM on all working days except Saturdays (On Saturday forms will be available at PGIMER, Chandigarh only from 10.30 AM to 12.30 PM) or by post for which request (inscribed on the envelope “Application form ICMR-JRF Exam -2008 must be accompanied with a Self addressed thick envelope of size 8” x10” bearing Postage stamp of Rs. 30/- and requisite Bank draft. The Bank draft should be preferably from any SBI Branch payable at SBI Medical Institute Branch (Code No. 1524), Chandigarh (for General & OBC Rs. 500/- and Rs. 300/- for SC/ST/PH) drawn in favour of “Director, PGI, Chandigarh”)
Candidates are advised to preserve photocopy of the Bank draft for further reference. SC/ST/OBC/PH candidates should submit a copy of the certificate from the competent authority in English or Hindi along with bank draft. All disputes relating to the conduct of the examination or any matter connected with this advertisement shall be dealt in the jurisdiction of Delhi Court.

NOTE: No request for supply of form by post will be entertained after 20.4.2008

II) ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS:
1. For MD / MS / M.Ch (6 years) / MDS Courses:
i) MBBS / BDS degree of a University recognised by the MCI / DCI.
ii) 55% aggregate marks in all MBBS / BDS professional examinations (50% in the case of candidates belonging to SCs / STs).
iii) Must have completed the required period of pre-registration internship for 12 months in a recognized hospital on or before 30th July, 2008 .
Candidates who have already done / are pursuing MD / MS / MDS in any subject at the time of counseling are not eligible for MD / MS /MDS courses.

2. (A) For DM / M.Ch. Courses : Must posses a degree of (a) M.D. in Medicine for D.M. in Cardiology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Neurology (b) M.D. in Pathology for D.M. in Haematpathology (c) M.D. in Medicine/Paediatrics for D.M. in Medical Oncology (d) M.D. in Radio-diagnosis for D.M. in Neuro-Radiology (e) M.D. in Anaesthesioogy for D.M. in Cardiac - Anaesthesiiology and Neuro-Anaesthesiology (f) M.D. in Paediatrics for D.M. in Neonatology and D.M. in Paediatric Neurology, (g) M.D. in Pharmacology/Medicine for DM. Clinical Pharmacology and (h) M.S. in General Surgery for M.Ch. courses of this Institute or any other University recognised by the MCI for this purpose.

Upper Age Limit : For DM / M.Ch. Courses : 35 years as on 1st July, 2008 relaxable in case of SC/ST candidates by a maximum of 5 yrs. (There is no upper age limit for sponsored candidates).

3. For Master in Hospital Administration (M.H.A.): Eligibility : For medical graduates : MBBS or an equivalent degree with not less than 55% aggregate marks with 3 years experience in a recognised hospital or 5 years experience in general practice. For non-medical graduates (eligible for sponsored seat only) : (a) Bachelor’s degree of a recognised University in Arts of Science or Nursing or Business Administration or Commerce or Engineering or any technical subject with at least 60% marks (b) 7 years experience in a responsible administrative position.

4. For Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.): A degree of M.Sc. or Master's degree in any subject allied to Medical Sciences or Master's degree in Nursing with at least 60% marks or MD / MS or an equivalent degree in any subject allied to Medical Sciences or Diploma of the National Board of Examinations or MBBS degree with not less than 55 % marks.

III) DATES FOR ENTRANCE EXAMINATION: (i) MD / MS / M.Ch (6 years) / MDS – 11th May, 2008 (ii) DM / M.Ch. / M.H.A. – 18th – 26th May, 2008; (iii) Ph.D. – 29th June to 5th July, 2008. Please note that the examinations for all the above courses/programmes will be conducted in Delhi only.

IV) PROSPECTUS-CUM-APPICATION FORMS (common for all the above mentioned courses) costing Rs. 500/- (Rs. 400/- for SC / ST category) can be obtained against CASH PAYMENT from any of the following branches of S.B.I. as per schedule indicated below :

The Bank Draft should be payable at New Delhi and should be valid upto Sept. 2008. Indian Postal Orders, money orders, cheques or cash will NOT be accepted for postal sale. The request should reach the Assistant Controller of Examinations, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi - 110029 on or before 18th March, 2008. The address at which Application Form is required should be written clearly in CAPITAL LETTERS and with PIN code. The following words should be written on top of the envelop: "Request for Application Form for AIIMS-PG/Post Doctoral Courses, July 2008 Session". AIIMS will not be responsible for delay in / non-receipt of Application Form caused by illegible or incomplete address.

Note: 1. Central / State sponsored / foreign national candidates are also required to fill in the prescribed application form. 2. A candidate can submit only one application form for DM / M.Ch & Ph. D courses

IMPORTANT : 1. Candidates must obtain application forms ONLY from an authorised branch of S.B.I. or by post from Examination Section of AIIMS. Forms obtained from an unauthorized source will be rejected. 2. Candidates are advised to procure blank application forms as early as possible instead of waiting for the last date. If Application Forms are sold out before the last date of sale and the same are not available, AIIMS/ SBI or its specified branches will not be responsible for nay consequences that may arise due to non-availability of forms. If a candidate does not get the form through Post Office in time, AIIMS will not be responsible for such lapses.
