Integrated Ph.D. Programme in Materials Science 2009-10
Applications for admission to the integrated Ph.D programme in Materials science of the Jawaharlal Nehru centre for Advanced scientific Research are invited. Candidates will be selected through a written entrance test in the areas of Chemistry, physics, and Mathematics followed by an oral examination, for those who are short listed. Students with Bachelor’s degree in any branch of science are eligible to apply. Those with Bachelors degree in Engineering with an aptitude towards scientific research will also be considered. A minimum of 55% marks is one of the requirements. Candidates who are appearing for the final examination this year can also apply. Selected students will receive a fellowship of Rs.8000 per month initially and Rs.12000 per month as they continue for Ph.D at the centre.

Admission to PROJECT ORIENTED CHEMICAL EDUCATION (POCE) from JAWAHARLAL NEHRU CENTRE FOR ADVANCED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
JAWAHARLAL NEHRU CENTRE FOR ADVANCED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH has invited apllication for Admission to PROJECT ORIENTED CHEMICAL EDUCATION (POCE)
ELIGIBILITY :
Science : Students presently studying in 1st year B.Sc (Preferably with PCM). As part of its Science Outreach Programme, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research has initiated a new programme, Project Oriented Chemical Education (POCE) , for students studying in B. Sc first year (PCM) to explore their potentials, to stimulate genuine interest in science and infuse creativity and scientific temper amongst undergraduate students. Selected students will be given an opportunity to involve in programmes such as lectures, laboratory projects and research. The programme will be conducted during summer vacation for a period of 6 to 8 weeks. Students selected are expected to work at the Centre for three such periods and successful candidates will receive certificates from the Centre. Where possible, students will be allowed to work in the Centre during mid-semester vacations as well. Specialization in advanced materials will be possible during the last year.
The total number of Fellowships offered will be upto 10. After the successful completion of the programme at the end of 3 years, the students will a receive a certificate from the centre. Only selected candidates will be intimated by last week of March – 2008 and also list will be available in the web site. Further enquiries or correspondence will be not be entertained. The announcement will appear in the media and on our website around January each year. The total number of Fellowships offered will be upto 10. A scholarship of Rs. 5000/- per month will be provided.
