IBAB, Bangalore, is a Public-Private initiative of Department of IT & BT and S&T Government of Karnataka and ICICI Bank. The institute announces admissions for the Post Graduate Diploma courses in
(i) Bioinformatics (18 months),
(ii) Cheminformatics (18 months),
(iii) Biotechniques (8 or 14 months) and
(iv) Advanced Diploma in Organic Synthesis (9 months)

Eligibility For
(i) Graduates / Post Graduates form Life /sciences, Engineering, Computer Sciences, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Medicine, Agriculture, and Veterinary. For
(ii) M.Sc. in any branch of Chemistry, Bachelors/ Masters in Pharmacy, BE/ B.Tech. Biotech and MBBS. For
(iii) M.Sc. in Life Science, B.Tech. Biotech and MBBS. For
(iv) M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry only

Education, Research and Entrepreneurship in Bioinformatics and Biotechnology
The Department of IT & BT, Government of Karnataka, in association with ICICI, established the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology. With the involvement of leading academic institutes and industry, IBAB aims to attain high standards in bioinformatics and biotechnology education, research and entrepreneurship. The institute continues to be supported by the Government of Karnataka. It is supported under DST's FIST programme and is a NEN Wadhwani Centre of Excellence in Entrepreneurship Education. It has received research funding from the Ministry of IT and Dept. of Biotechnology, both of the Government of India. It has received faculty chairs from Biocon, from AstraZeneca Research Foundation and from Merck & Co (MSD Pharmaceuticals Pty Ltd. India), and scholarship support from several sources.

01 Bioinformatics
Eligibility:
Bachelors/Masters in Engineering, IT, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Medicine, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Veterinary, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Life Science
Application processing fee (in Rs): Regular: Rs.800/- NRI: Rs.1500/-

02 Biotechniques
Eligibility:
Masters in Life Science, BTech/BE in Biotechnology, BSc Biotechnology, MBBS may be considered
Application processing fee (in Rs): Regular: Rs.800/- NRI: Rs.1500/-

03 Cheminformatics
Eligibility:
Masters in any branch of Chemistry, Bachelors/Masters in Pharmacy, BE/BTech in Chemical Engineering
Application processing fee (in Rs): Regular: Rs.800/- NRI: Rs.1500/-

NOTE:
Fill in only one application form.
Same application form is valid for all the courses
Application processing fee is to be paid separately for each course
(Eg.: Application processing fee = 2 X Rs.800 = Rs. 1600/- if you apply for two courses,say, Bioinformatics and Cheminformatics or Bioinformatics and Biotechniques
The application form fee is non-refundable.
Incomplete forms will be rejected.
IBAB reserves the right of rejecting an application if the candidate does not meet the required criteria.

.Application fee is to be paid through Demand Draft in favour of “Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology” payable at Bangalore.
.Date of posting:
Last date for submission of filled-in application form: 30 August 2008.
Post your application form before 24 August 2008 to avoid any delay.
Application form received after the last date will be rejected.

.Non-receipt/loss of hall ticket:
Duplicate hall ticket will be issued at examination center on producing a valid photo ID such as Passport, Driving License, Voters Card, Bank Passbook etc.,

.Important Dates
Receipt of filled in application form at IBAB: 30 August 2008.
All India Entrance Test : 14 September 2008
Course commencement: 15 November 2008

.Checklist before sending the form:
Make sure the application form is filled in completely and accurately
Send one additional passport size photograph besides the one pasted
Make sure to attach supporting documents, wherever applicable
Attach DD for the appropriate amount (in case you have downloaded the application form)

. by NRI candidates:
Proof of NRI status
. by NET/GATE/BINC/ICAR NET candidates:
Photo copy of valid NET/BINC/ICAR NET certificate
Valid GATE scorecard (only those with a minimum score of 800 out of 1000 will be exempted from writing entrance examination)
. by Sponsored candidate:
Letter of sponsorship signed by the authorized signatory on the company letter head.
